To be fair, the fact that muslims could be offended and react violently is not the sole reason. Another is that the manifestation will attract extreme rightist sympathizers, including neo-nazi's, xenophobians and other extremists. Those could on their own start some riots and fights, but when combined with violent muslims, of which there are several in Brussels, the situation could get pretty intense.

And this is what I don't really get. Why should an extreme rightist demonstrate against islamisation?
The NPD (germany's extreme rightist party) said that they sympathize with radical muslims and that they aren't their enemys. That may be rather suprising at first, but when you look deeper, you get the connection:
both -radical muslims and extreme rightists- hate jews/israel, hate america and hate democracy.
So I don't see why one should fear that the demonstration could attract extreme rightists, because this demonstration is clearly against antisemitism and against (islamo-)fascism.

BTW: I'm not a rightist, nor a leftist. I'm a liberal and I hate every kind of anti-free speech laws.

I didn't see this topic discussed somewhere here, so:

A group of about 20.000 people where planning to demonstrate on 9/11 against the islamisation of europe. It was supposed to be a peaceful non-violent demonstration. They also planned a silent minute for the victims of 9/11 and they already talked with the police in brussel and they said it was okay (they even told them that their banners were legal). It all was absolutely 100 % legal, maybe even more than other demonstrations in brussel (there are about 500 per year).

But then brussel's mayor Freddy Thielemann prohibited the demonstration. The reason: muslims could be offended and react violently.

My question: isn't this already showing what influence islam has in europe when people who want to demonstrate for free speech aren't allowed to do so, simply because some people could be offended?
Also note that on the same day another demonstration that also might offend a lot of people takes place. It's a demonstration of people who blame the american government and israel for the 9/11 attacks. And said demonstration is allowed, regardless of having offending characteristics.

(for more information on the 9/11 demonstration, see: http://sioe.wordpress.com/brussels-demo-2007/ )

So what are your oppinions on this?

Also... any word on what I have to do to join? =)

    Keep posting. Smile
Svoghtir decides who becomes a member, so we'll have to wait what he has to say about that.
But I think you would be a perfect member in our clan. You have the mono black spirit. Grin

Also no one has mentioned this yet but the rummor mill spoiled that boggarts are goblins. Any one wanna guess what the odds are that they will make good black goblins besides uncle fester?

I saw something in the rumor mill that looks like a black legendary goblin (the dude with the frog on his head). Maybe it will be strong?
Also, is there any confirmation about goblins being black/red rather than just mono black? (that would be cool)

I think it is more about pushing certain colors (mostly white).
Wizards sees that white isn't played as much as they would like it to be and then they simply decide to make some good white cards and suddenly the color sees more play. They don't even seem to be bothered by white off-color abilities. Mad

If you didn't want to spend money? Go with the old standby: Pestilence. It's pretty powerful, and built beautifully for multiplayer.
Otherwise, a really cheap way to abuse people not having a SB in multiplayer is a nasty control Reanimator. With Dark Rituals (and all that other powerful crap), you can fill your graveyard with the nastiest baddies you can think of turn 1, you'd be packing plenty of mass removal, and a version I had sported the ever annoying Contamination (to abuse with Nether Traitors and Shadows). Then, whoever wasn't hurt as much by the Contamination died to the Avatars, Akromas, and Visaras first.

    Sounds nice! Grin
I think I'll try something like that. I also realized that Stuffy Doll (god, just love that card) gets kinda nasty with Pestilence, because there always is a creature on the board and the chosen player looses double the life.
Uh-oh, here comes a deck idea. Cool
I just have to build the deck now! I'll post the deck list later.

Here it is (this is what I was able to build without buying cards):

The deck has 66 cards, but since it is casual, it doesn't matter to me.

    Strategy:
As you can say after reading the deck's name, this deck is all about synergy (well, kinda). Early, you slow your opponents down by playing Hissing Miasma, Demon's Horn or Damnation. On turn 5 you usually can play Stuffy Doll targeting a random opponent. And this is where it gets funny. Ever tried Stuffy Doll with Vampiric Link? Or aiming Tendrils of Corruption at it? Life gain and direct damage. Grin
But the real madness starts with Pestilence. You can control the board with it, because your Stuffy Doll never dies to it. And that's not all: the chosen opponent looses twice as much life than every other player does.
You may be wondering why Mephidross Vampire is in the deck. Well, Stuffy Doll may not be able to deal damage to creatures, but the Wumpus can. It can get very ugly for your opponents when they don't block it, because you can pump it up into the sky (one +1/+1 counter for each point of damage dealt). The Wumpus is also great with Vampiric Link. Today I won a game with this combination because I had 160 (!) life points and 2 Hissing Miasma.

Cards I may want to add:
    Circle of Affliction
If I choose black, I can simply pay an additional mana per activation of Pestilence to let and opponent loose that life point and leaving me unharmed.

Why is it so hard for us to fight against our selves? Well rain of tears is what every one else will sudgest, I however will sudgest befowl, one mor mana to kill a critter, or land. And ofcourse colorless things like ghost quarter, platnum angel, and voidstone gargoyle. Cranial would work to and extirpate does wonders after a couple rounds of discard.

What I would sudgest if you want to splash: blood moon, magus of the moon, destructive flow, sowing salt, COP: black.

Ofcourse the easyest way is convince another player that they need to counter it for you or they die next turn. We're black mages, twisting others to our will is what we do.

Also how the hell does he survive a deathcloud for 40? That's life loss and he loses all hit stuff as well, I'm assumeing he is running more than just consume spirit to try something like that.

The deck also runs Tendrils of Corruption.
He gets that much life because nobody (except me, off course) seems to see him as a threat. So it's up to me to get the job done. And hey, guess who takes the first Consume Spirit: the white mage with CoP:Black, the blue player with counter back up, the red player, who redirects the spell back into his face or the black player, who is already attacking him anyway (even if I didn't it would hit me)? So the first one hits me, and still, nobody seems to be threatend by that. I can't say how many games went this way...
The deck isn't very popular in our playgroup, but stilll nobody wants to take it down (well, except me).
Hey, I just had a great idea:
Since I'm a badass and all, what would a nice, nearly-unstoppable multiplayer mono black control deck look like (since this is casual, formats don't matter)?

Disrupt his mana and hand... However, those aren't really good options in multiplayer...

Yeah, unfortunately I can't scan his hand for Consume Spirit every turn.
But I could use Cranial Extraction! :D:D:D
And I just noticed that I can also use a potent all-time favorite of mine:
    Stuffy Doll + Pariah's Shield

Guys, in my play group there is this really annoying Consume Spirit/Cabal Coffers deck and I was wondering what I, as a mono B player can do against it, without building the same deck (which I could, but I don't want to, because: winning to X-spells in multi player is like taking away candy from a 3-year old with broken legs)

So are there any ways I can protect myself from gettin' hit by a Consume Spirit or Death Cloud for 40? (stay mono black please)

    My opinion:

B: planeswalker hate and maybe some tribal destruction cards (perhaps black could finally destroy enchantments, if they have the tribal type?)

W: will be able to do anything with planeswalkers or tribal cards. wizards only has to give it a nice, wrath-of-god-like name to justify off-color abilities, just like they keep doing it over and over again.
I wonder if this will be quoted Grin
but no, really I think white will support tribal and planeswalker, but it won't be able to specifically destroy those types.

G: can't destroy planeswalkers, nor does it hose them in any way, but it will have the strongest tribal theme.

R: this is a tuff one. probably good at tribal stuff, since red has goblins (as you already stated). Though I'm not sure if red will be able to deal with planeswalkers.

U: probably no good tribal support due to creature lack in blue (but then again, tribal could get ugly with merfolk around in Lorwyn). Maybe blue will get some planeswalker stealing cards or counterspells against planeswalkers?

As already said, this is just my personal opinion. Wink

    EDIT:

Almost forgot: I don't think wizards is making a 6th color in the near future (or even in 5 years from now). It would simply destroy the game as we know it. They could have added a new color 10 years back, but now, it is too late (fortunately).

To be honest, I'm not really exited about our planeswalker. It's kinda boring and not really that good.
In the best case scenario, you play her at turn five. Because she would've been really good if you could use her abilities more then once a turn, she isn't that usable (unless you want to use it as a reusable tutor) until turn 9. By that, all the RDW, MGA and other aggro decks already killed it or killed you, control decks have such a good board position that it doesn't matter if you gain a few creatures or just bounce it and the remaining combo decks already gone of by then.
Don't get me wrong: I like the idea, but it probably ends up that 2 or three are really good and the others just plain suck (one of which is of course the one we want to use).

I also believe that the black planeswalker is going to suck compared with the others. I think the white one will get some overpowered effects (as usual, maybe a wrath effect? that would be veeery creative, wouldn't it?). And the best ones will be the red and the blue one, probably.

Witness Liliana in all her planeswalking awsomeness:

I guess it is a bit too early to say if this is good or if it sucks. But I am quite sure that no other planeswalker will have '-8' as cost for its best ability.

Oh, almost forgot. Some information about how planeswalkers work:

Creatures can attack a planeswalker, and creatures attacking your planeswalker can be blocked by your creatures.
For each point of combat damage dealt to one, it loses one loyalty.

I got this all from the rumor thread. Grin

I was thinking about this whole tribal stuff, when suddenly I had an idea:
what if black were able to destroy tribal cards?
That would allow us to destroy tribal enchantments!
    Like: "destroy target cleric permanent"
    wouldn't that be great? Grin
