Hey folks,I'm a Knightfall player but switched decks recently and i've Top8ed my first tournament (30 players, 5 Rounds +Top8) with this deck.

I used Ballestin93's 5-0 list as a template and swapped some cards. I tried the Bant version previously but it felt clunky and when I saw this list, I thought I'd give another try.

    1. Round vs Jeskai Control (2-0)
I won G1 value town-ing my opponent and didn't show the combo. I comboed G2 when he tapped out for Geist of Saint Traft.
+ Archangel Avacyn; Shalai, Voice of Plenty; Eidolon of Rhetoric - Birds of Paradise; Vizier of Remedies; Qasali Pridemage

    2. Round vs Mono-Black Devotion (2-1)
I comboed in G1 and G3, Opponent did win G2 with 3 Phyrexian Obliterator and me having combo without drawing any Finisher.
+ 2 Worship; 3 Path to Exile - Devoted Druid; 2 Vizier of Remedies; Qasali Pridemage; Rhonas the Indomitable

    3. Round vs Jeskai Control (0-2)
A friend of mine, was a real beating. He basically had all the answers.

    4. Round vs Mardu Pyromancer (2-0)
Also a friend, I killed him G1 with 3 Knights, had the combo in G2
+ 2 Worship; 3 Path to Exile; - Vizier of Remedies; 2 Devoted Druid; Rhonas the Indomitable; Qasali Pridemage

Drew Round 5 to secure Top8

    Top8 vs Mardu Pyromancer (1) (1-2)
I was 8th and had to play against the nr.1 seed, he won all his matches and only lost 1 game. G1 was really close, had the luck to have Rhonas and Knights. G2 & G3 was not even close. I kept solid 7 and 6, and he drew all the discardspells.

The Deck feels really great. Is there any tech against Jeskai Control or Mardu Pyromancer? Those matchups feel really bad in my opinion.

Hey guys, I'm currently testing and tweaking the modern-decks I play in preparation for GP Barcelona at the end of June. I started playing this Deck when the Knightfall-Combo came out ever since and currently, I'm feeling very frustrated when I play this deck. I'm not really sure what's wrong with it but since the unbannings, the deck feels kinda clunky (or maybe it's me not seeing enough lines of plays). Don't get me wrong, the flexibility of this deck is great, but BBE and Blood Moons are heavily played cards I think we're losing against (or just me).

After playing Counters Company a bit, I'm back at playing GW Valuetown. The Deck feels great and you can outgrind so many Decks, but it's my true love Knightfall I'd go with in Barcelona.

Here are some lists w/ some notes to the lists:

These were my 75 before I abandoned Knightfall. I slammed 2 JTMS for 1x Lotus Cobra & 1x Hierarch, because I prefered playing 7 instead of 8 dorks with 10 Fetchlands and although Lotus Cobra can be insane, i think it's a bad creature when you can't play it before T4 or T3. I also kicked 2x Nissa, Steward of Elements out of the Sideboard, because of the unbannings of JTMS. I also opted playing a second Breeding Pool instead of a Botanical Sanctum, mainly because of getting JTMS consitently on T3 or T4 and for an another saccable Land for KotR.

So after I played a MKM Trial at my LGS with Valuetown, I started to look back at Knightfall and try to fit the Combo in either a dedicated Combo or Control-Shell with no Companies or in a Value-Shell, so i started brewing a Control-Shell.
My first step for the non-Company Version was to see if there are any good payoff cards for having lots of mana except killing the Opponent on the Spot. I always tried to kill them when the Combo was online, but playing 10 Fetchland and 4/5 different Shocklands also means that the Lifetotals aren't high enough to kill them in the same turn and I always wanted to be sure that there's nothing in my way. I also looked at the Bant Control list form Guillaume Matignon to compare what we could add and Emrakul, the Promised End seems a really spicy one. I think Remand and Nissa, Steward of Elements are safe cards in the deck, since they can protect the Knight or even finish the Opponent. Further looking and with the addition of Dominaria I also added Teferi, Hero of Dominariainto the Shortlist of good Cards. Teferi really made some impressive showings beeing in the UW and Jeskai Control decks, even kicking out JTMS off their lists. So here is a very-very-very early Version of the Deck (I won't add a Sideboard in this Version, I definetly post a list with Sideboard when I figured the Deck out):

The Manabase could maybe differ from the normal Coco-List, with maybe an additional Field of Ruin/Ghost Quarter/Sejiri Steppe or even an additional Basic and also cut a Path or a JTMS for another Creature like Cobra or a second Clique.

It's a first-timer for me, I'm not really a brewer of decks, but if you have suggestions for this Deck, go ahead! I'm propably going to play this deck in my LGS's Modern Weekly. So excpect a report on thursday from me, cheers!

Edit: Earlier-Me is so dumb, he forgot to add Shalai into the 75. I'd definetly cut the Clique for her.

I'm currently switching decks too and to be honest, i'm far more impressed with Value Town than Retreat. When I play GW on MTGO i'm able to wreck Affinity and all these Hollow One decks. Of course those two decks attack the opponent on a different axis, while you have a better Aggro Matchup and can attack you'r Opponents recources with GW, you have additional powerful Cardchoices with JTMS, Spell Queller, Reflector Mage and Unified Will in Bant and you get a certain flexibility that Value Town has not.

I'm going to test Bant Vizier Company too, I guess the Format currently is so diverse and so awesome, i can't decide what to play. For me personally, it depends on if i see a lot of Blood Moons or not. If I see Moons, I go with Valuetown simply because I can't get punished hard when I play the greedy 3.5 color Manabase.

Have you guys got good Results with Bant Company without Retreat? I see more lists without it, I played blue mostly for JTMS, Baby Jace (which is performing amazingly), Queller and Retreat but it seems that People are getting away from the Combo and instead filling the slots with more Value.

Hey guys, i have some questions regarding creatures and Sideboard-tech:

    1. Is Kira, Great Glass-Spinner worth trying? I was looking for options, because i'm struggling in a Jund/Control-heavy Meta in my LGS and this card is doing it's job in Merfolk
    2. I tested against some other Decks prior to a Team Event (similar to the SCG Team Events, where three Formats are played) and struggled against Bushwhacker-Zoo and Grixis Delver. Do you know how to beat these decks? I think we're too slow against Bushwhacker-Zoo, In the sideboarded games, i always kept hands with 2+ dorks and three lands, mostly to block early attacks. Against Delver: I'd say it's a close one (?) but i think Delver has the better cards against us.

Here's my List i'm currently running; Since we don't have Affinity or Tron in our LGS, i don't play any Stony Silence, but i'd replace Aven Mindcensor and either Eldritch Evolution or Worship for two copies.

I piloted the deck at yesterdays FNM for the first time since the new bannings. Went 2-2; I won the first round 2-1 in a Knightfall Mirror, which was a very grindy, intensive game. At the end, Worship won me the game. In the second round, i lost to GW-Hatebears in the last extra turn 1-2, which I could've/should've turn it into a draw but made some mistakes during the final turns. Round 3, i won against Tron 2-0 by simply attacking him constantly, he never drew an Oblivion stone or All is dust. The last round, i lost against Goblins 0-2 with two very strong t4's with two bushwacker and i only drew lands.

I felt very confortable with the deck in general. I tried out the new Tamiyo instead of a third Retreat in the maindeck. I can't say anything since i never drew the card (maybe it's a mistake and i should've played 2x Tamiyo's and 1x Retreat) but my MVP was definetly Tireless Tracker. One i'm not sure at is the sideboard. I tried eldritch evolution in the sideboard and with it, more creatures in the sideboard than usual. I can post the list later, our LGS is doing a special Modern-Weekend, hope i can playtest and update the list during the weekend alongside the stream.

Good luck to you all playing this weekend at the GP's!

Speaking of Aether Revolt, today they spoiled this one: "Heroic Intervention"; 1G; Instant; Permanents you control gain Hexproof and Indestructible until end of turn.
What do you guys think about it? This is possibly the best protection spell for a CoCo deck right?

Is there anything other than Gaddock Teeg against Ad Nauseam or do we have to be simply faster than Ad Nauseam?

I'd like to add 2x Tamiyo into my deck, but since my version is playing 1x chord, 4x coco, 4x paths, 3x retreat for the non-creature spell slots, i don't know what to remove from the deck. I first thought about removing 1x path + 1x chord, 1x retreat + 1x path or 2x paths, but i'm not confortable with it, since path is our only removalspell and either removing a toolbox card or a combo piece. I like the hatebears idea, lowering the creature-count, possibly removing the coco's and instead playing full playsets of chords and aether vials (adding the blue-splash for tamiyo and retreat?). I don't know what tamiyo is going to replace, but i'm sure someone is going to crack that puzzle.

I started playing this deck when i saw the combo for the first time and then thanks to google i found the primer. I'd like to say you should maybe consider adding the matchups, but since the deck moved from combo into the collected plan and this deck is very "reactional" and kinda flexible, listing the possibilities for the sideboard and the role of said card is enough for me Wink keep up the good work!

btw: since those new cards are spoiled for eldritch moon, what you guys think of Eldritch Evolution, Emrakul's Evangel and Thalia, Heretic Cathar? I also really like to add the new Tamiyo to the list, but i'm not sure with her in this particular deck, same goes to eldritch evolution, i think tamiyo would be a great walker in a bant-midrange strategy and the other card is better in abzan company (my opinion).

I played it today in my LGS. Went 5-1 in the standard league beating ur control (2-0, same list of todd anderson with some changes in the board), 2x bw control (both 2-1, they were both long, grindy games), a GB-eldrazi midrange deck (2-1, interesting list, i couldn't draw any ramp spells and got beaten up by 3x 4/5 advocats in g2) and only beaten by Bant Company (went 6-0, 1st in the ranking after round 1 of 9). I really like the deck, the visionarys are insane.

Though control and midrange decks have many strong removals, it's a simpler matchup than aggro decks, which are too fast, even with 2 languish in sideboard. I will test it against against other decks soon, like rites and gb company, vampires and all those different human-decks. I also played a ramp mirror (my friend played a GR ramp list with chandra, ulvenwald hydra, world breaker, ulamog and chandra, flamecaller); i think the RG is better in these mirrors, with the possibility to shoot down stuff and things with atarka and chandra is very important for them.

Ulvenwald Hydra and World Breaker's abbility to block flying creatures is very powerful, the additional draws thanks to the visionarys and frogs and the raw power of ulamog is just... wow. I'm not fully convinced about the hedron archives, i always boarded them plus 2x nissa's pilgrimage out for 2x nissa, vastwood seer and 2x pulse of murasa.

I'd like to test more big creatures in the sideboard, like dragonlord silumgar, dragonlord atarka, void winnower and inverter of truth. I play one single inverter of truth in my gb midrange sideboard and it generated value, mostly mirrors or grindy games. Because of the dragonlords, i'd play 7x forest, 1x swamp, 1x mountain, 1x island instead of 9x forests and 1x swamp. And with the red basic, we could play kozilek's return. Kozilek himself did a great job too, get a full hand and discarding your nissa's pilgrimage to counter removal was a great feeling. I already mentioned 2x pulse of murasa and 2 languish and have got one another recursion card with seasons past and single removals like clip wings and ultimate price.

What about Alara? We don't know what's happening there since the whole time-travel thing during Tarkir and the plane is separated in five different shards, there's lots of mana ready to be devoured for momma Emrakul.

    Quote from Gazillah »
I really enjoy this deck at the moment, but I have been testing this deck out against the new Mono-black eldrazi deck. This deck gets smashed by that deck and I have real trouble against it. I've been trying to figure out some hate cards against that deck but I cannot think of any. The deck, I'm currently running is:

    Creatures:

    3 Birds of Paradise
    4 Noble H
    3 Lotus Cobra
    3 Gheist
    4 KoTR
    4 Voice of Resurgence

    Non-Creature Spells:

    4 Paths
    4 Remand
    4 Serum Visions
    2 Peek
    3 Retreat

Possible solutions would be adding more ghost quarters in the main board, but I would find this very difficult to fix up. I just feel the graveyard hate is really powerful against Knightfall. And their ramp is too real. Oblivion sower is just....

Remand is useless against eldrazi, therefore that would be replaced with sideboard cards.

Also Retreat would be taken out because graveyard hate is too strong in that deck.

    What are some possible solutions?

Had the same problems here, we played today. My friend tested BW Eldrazi with the new eldrazis from OGW and i tried some knightfall lists, i got crushed, i only slowed him down with Crumble to Dust, i think crumble to dust is too late at turn 3 when he can cast Oblivion Sower/Thought-Knot Seer/Reality Smasher. Then we tried out other sb obtions,Bonfire of the Damned, Banefire, Gaddock Teeg, the red spells haven't done anything, Gaddock Teeg can easily get killed with Wasteland Strangler or any black removals. I also tried Crucible of Worlds, but they'll propably exile your stuff before you can play them, Torpor Orb only stops Thought-Knot Seer. I haven't found out what the solution is against it, but we should prepare, this deck is on fire right now.
