They should create a Restricted List for Modern and add Eye of Ugin. It'll make the deck less consistent and slow things down without completely killing the deck. Plus, losing Eye completely hurts Tron.

The problem is a restricted list doesn't stop anything from being broken, it just makes it less likely to happen. They can still get the dream draws.

Hey if Griselshoal pulls a Faithless Looting, Grislebrand, and Goryo's Vengeance out of those 10-11 cards they draw in two turns and you don't have a disruption spell... I'm just saying a dream draw can happen with many decks, but how likely? 1 Eye of Ugin should keep the deck in check. I just don't want players afraid of their investments being banned. I have a friend who built Twin and two weeks later it was gone with Summer Bloom.

I am going to be blunt. If you are not a card shop you should have zero investment, in the money sense for magic the gathering.
I was using "investment" loosely as a figure of speech. The cool kid on the street wanting an eldrazi deck to break into competitive magic has to throw down nearly $200 dollars for a play set of Eye of Ugin's.

I really hope the land base is the filter lands, but the check lands are much more logical. They interact with Battle lands.

If they restrict Eye of Ugin, will that fix everything? Slows the deck down, makes it less consistent, possibly force some expedition maps. We don't have a Restricted list in Modern.

I hope Wizards doesn't print the check lands for this set. Filter lands need to come back and lower their insane price tag.

Sorry, I posted this in the wrong section earlier.

Hello, I've been playing infect for about a year and a half now. I've done UB, BG, and BUG. I have been ridiculed and raged at, passive aggressively shunned, and people regularly ask that infect be banned. One time we were bored and decided to try a tow-headed giant, and they refused to play if the infect counter wasn't set to 15 (can't imagine even getting ten counters would be easy being two opponents means double the board state and spells).

So I'll ask on the internet, does infect need a ban? Inkmoth, Might of old krosa, etc. Does the deck need something banned?

Is there no one in your area playing Jund?

Edit: regarding legacy, there is another very large difference between it and modern, namely that while modern is a mulligan based format, legacy is cantrip based. This makes for a HUGE difference in how well each format can self regulate.

No one plays Jund and only one person has Abzan. The meta that I can remember is a few burn decks, zoo, tron, grixis control, some storm, a few affinities, multiple amulets, lanturn control, mill, delver, bw tokens, couple elves, goblins, esper, eldrazi, merfolk, griselshoal. Those are just the ones I remember. I am the only person in my area who plays infect and it feels like I'm the only person who can't win without someone complaining or that it was unfair.
