Counter target spell.
If it's a creature spell, target opponent gains 2 life. If it's a non creature spell, exile the top 3 cards of your library. You may pay 2 additional mana to negate this effect.
What is the general opinion on Nettle Sentinel? Is having slots dedicated for a one drop 2/2 with potential vigilance and a funny interaction with Heritage Druid worth it?? It's a bad draw if you're behind and doesn't benefit the entire team as much as a lord. It can be replaced with Boreal Drubehind.Elves of Deep Shadow for ramping because, let's be real, if an opponent slips or doesn't have an interaction turn 1 or 2, you ramp into a lord and they fall behind
I really expected Gideon to die. It was pretty clear Wizards intended us to believe so with Ajani joining the Gatewatch, Bontu showing Gideon his mortality, finding such strong faith in Oketra and losing her, and all his buddies porting away while he stayed. I figured it would be Gideon or Nissa as Gideon would be the first of the Gatewatch to give his life if needed to and Nissa has experienced a massive character growth.
Now that Liliana has bailed, maybe we can find ourselves a new Black member for the Gatewatch. Then maybe Garruk would consider joining them?
Played a Jeskai Control list in a 97 player PPTQ today.
7 Rounds with a cut to top 8.
Couldn't make the RPTQ so ended up splitting in the finals.
Only loss was to affinity r6.
Hey fellow Jeskai players, for those of you on the Queller Control version, I just featured Jeskai Queller in my most recent 5-match Modern Comp League series which you can find HERE.
SB could probably be refined and I also tested out a 1-of Nimble Obstructionist. Overall underwhelming, but it was only 5 matches so it's hard to tell. Other than that, the deck felt very smooth and beat out the two "scariest" decks in the format (Grixis DS and Eldrazi-Tron). Definitely would try it again in the future.
I don't know why you let a Blood Moon stick around when you had Celestial Purge and Spell Queller in hand and the opponent at 2 cards, then 1 after a Finks. If I had two nonbasics on the field and 80% of my land base is nonbasics, I would've slammed an answer.

Please let me introduce myself.
I played magic for years.
Unfortunately my friends decided to take a break with magic so i followed them. (Don't know why...maybe it was not that fun to move to tourneys alone)
However, we started to play again this time with Standard (First was Legacy) and i decided to play this deck. I mean, i played Dredge before if you know what i mean regarding my decktypes
I just read the comments and took a closer look at the lists and the results:
Why is nobody talking about the first place with Grixis Colossus in Roanoke at SCG Invitational?
Redirus91 already posted the article from DeBrannon and i think to go Grixis is a good way.
I playtested this version a lot and i have to say: My friends don't wanna play with me anymore. Its like i win 80% of games.
In my location I play against Temur Energy, U/R Control, Zombies etc..all the top decks.
Those specific cards are rather difficult to fully replace, but we do have some decent ones to work with.
- Swirling Suns for Kozilek's Return
- Possibly alter the formula to work with Panharmonicon, like with Servo Schematic and Maverick Thopterist. Prism and Puzzlebox already likes it.
- Scrap Trawler for Matter Reshaper
- One of the Tezzeret cards in place of On Nix
- Saheeli Rai is still a card despite losing her best friend
- More inventor's Fair for Sanctum
It ramps faster than any average deck, plays threats that are far more dangerous than any others at the normal turn ratio, a good portion have on cast triggers, and land hate is very specific with a small card pool and narrow design space.
Crop Rotation would be pretty relevant in the last couple desert sets.
And could let Ruin Ghost replace Mother of Runes in maverick.
I feel like Tron, Scapeshift, and the Eldrazi decks are already good enough without Crop Rotation lol. I would totally run four to put an Inkmonth Nexus into play.
Counterspell needs to be reprinted in Modern. By this point, in such a fast meta, it kills zero decks and helps blue. Being double blue is also a drawback. I've had so many games where Mana Leak quickly becomes irrelevant as time goes on or if an opponents threats can easily dodge under it. Seriously, there are threats that have to be answered left and right in the 1 and 2 mana zone. It will never be printed in Modern under the current rules of cards requiring a Standard set first, but it's fine to dream. It's on my list of unlikely dreams with Boondock Saints 3, Mario RPG 2, and the Shadows of the Empire movie.

Hey, it reached tier 1. It's back up there with Smash Brothers Meta Knight, the Big Mac, and the Halo 1 pistol again.

How was the blue bird compared to the more common Vendillion Clique? Was all the rounds against strong decks?
