I really want to buy into this deck, its somewhat inexpensive and a lot of fun. My local meta is Jund and infect with some burn and a lot of brews, does anyone have a list that would maybe play well vs these 2-3 decks?
My meta is Infect, Jund, and Burn, with a bunch of brews on top of that. My question is, in your experiences what deck would have a match advantage vs infect and jund at the same time? If its not bad vs burn thats just a bonus.
I dont quite understand what you were trying to explain with unlife labman and thoughtseize but I like the idea behind pact and grace. The mirror just seems like a race and labman is a turn slower under ultimate conditions.
If I were you ide cut a Temple of Enlightenment instead of Seachrome Coast, your adding yet another tap land which will reduce your chances of landing a t4 combo. Also if your expecting a lot of infect maybe take 1 unlife out of the mainboard. Your putting the thoughtseizes into your sideboard plan like 70% of the time so you could replace a mainboard unlife with a mainboard thoughtseize. Never a bad thing to see in an opening hand on game 1. Another option, since you are worried about control(i assume since you want to mainboard boseiju) is to add in a tolaria west as land 21. It will find pacts or the boseiju for you. Another note looking at your sideboard plan, why are you keeping boseiju in at all times? If your not expecting counters and are even taking pacts out, you should be taking the boseiju out as well.(I dont think ide run boseiju mainboard without a land in sb) You probably want to keep lab man in vs jund, if ad nauseam picks up any more steam they will start playing slaughter games in which case your only win con will be labman and spoils which is extremely hard anyway. You didnt specify which scapeshift your planning vs but vs RUG which i think is the most common your going to want your pact of negation. Vs the mirror ide rather keep my lotus blooms and ship out some pacts or the labman and a pact. Ide also consider tossing in a spellskite vs the mirror, as well as a slaughter pact vs the mirror because I know I would sideboard in a skite vs the mirror, haha. Those are just a few random thoughts looking over your sideboard plan. Working on mine as well and I dont have it in front of me.
I just bought into this deck. Waiting for the cards to get here. Trying to learn a good sideboard plan. My meta is mostly jund infect and burn. Any suggestions?
Main deck will most likely be Sam Blacks GP List. Plan on testing out Lynx and Kird Ape in that slot. I like Kird Ape for pyroclasm. Will also be replacing arid mesa and 2 verdant catacombs with 3 wooded foothills until i can get some extra cardboard funding.
Thanks for the quick response! I never even realized there is a possibility of Ad Nauseam being effected by bans. I mean after all, back in August of 2011 Wizards said this: "We used two criteria to guide us in choosing what cards to ban. First, we have a rule of thumb about Legacy that we don't like consistent turn-two combination decks, but that turn-three combination decks are okay. We modified that rule for Modern by adding a turn to each side: we are going to allow turn-four combination decks, but not decks that consistently win the game on turn three." But I guess that doesnt mean we cant be inadvertently targeted lol.
Hey guys, I just signed up for MTGSalvation but I have been following this thread for a while now. Ive recently given up on Standard and Begun my MTG Modern Career with none other than Ad Nauseam. Here is my current deck list:
4x darkslick shores
4x gemstone mine
1x hallowed fountain
1x island
1x plains
4x seachrome coast
4x temple of deceit
1x temple of enlightenment
1x boseiju
3x darkness
2x duress
1x silence
1x echoing
2x favor of the mighty
4x leyline
1x scorn
Now I know most of you on here will tell me to run the spoils version, and about half the time I do, I just drop the peers and the teachings for 3 spoils and labman for a second t storm. Im still testing as I have only been playing a couple months. While learning, I like not punting away 2 spirit guides, to many lands, or both win cons with a spoils. It really is just one less thing to think about while learning how to optimally pilot the deck. TBH there is no real reason I changed the land base other than this is just what feels right to me, ive never had a problem with colors, or getting lands. Lastly, my sideboard is pretty local meta specific. The favors and the duress' are there for the eldrazi ramp and the infect decks that show up every week. There are 2 of each at my store. Lastly, maindeck labman is because i play against a soul sisters and 1 other lifegain deck weekly and by turn 4 they have 35+ life.
I do have a few questions for you guys, specifically togores, because ive watched your videos and have seen your shiny deck and am quite the fan.
1)What do we side out vs an infect deck which runs sb counters?
2) With a local meta of a couple eldrazi ramp of which 1 has blue, a couple splinter twin, a couple infect, bw tokens, a couple jund, a few esper/grixis control, a few slow lifegain decks, and a handful of burn decks would you guys have any suggestions for my sideboard?
3) I have been waiting for someone to better explain when to keep and when to mulligan vs a blind opponent game 1 and I just saw togores post something that struck me as genius. What do I need to hit to win t4, if I need to draw 3 cards then I need to Mul. Any elaboration on this?
4) Ive decided im going to foil this deck out slowly. Like i said I am new to modern, how often do decks in the top 2 tiers completely fall out of favor? Aka is the investment going to last me for the foreseeable future?
As a final note, I cant wait till you start streaming togores, let me know your times when its up!
