the list you are thinking of running looks good but vey clunky or over costed. it simply isnt as fast as it should be.and there isnt enough creatures in the list. the deck realy needs mystic enforcer as a finisher as your list hasnt realy got one.

i realy think u guys are over reacting to the power of the goyf'. there are plenty of card that are going to beat u unless u answer them. deal with it and move on. u obv play control and i cant tell u im not a big fan of control (to many draws) and some of the cards in but i dont complain. serious i consider tefirie far nor powerful and broken. it seems whenever aggro gets an awsome beatstick some control players tell us its to good. im sick of it

Please make an effort to use something resembling proper spelling and grammar; at the very least, type the two extra keystrokes required for "you" instead of "u."--Binary

im taking G/W/r goyf or the U/G shifter. probibly the goyf though cos id rather not play a control deck when im not used to it, plus goyf can get some degenerate draws (9/9 turn 3 anyone?)

ooooooooooooooooooooook then. i think someones been beaten by a goyf 10 2 many times cos hes a bad player (im looking at you surging chaos). tarmogoyf is a freakin awsome card. so is teferie (which is a heck of alot more powerfull) and dragonstorm and mystical teaching, specteral force and hell y not while we are banning all these good card y not ban damnation as well? we all know killing EVERY creature is broken so we better ban that to.

my point is they print good cards. tarmogoyf isnt broken. its just good. it doesnt create a degenerate combo like dragonstorm. in fact i think drangonstorm is far more broken than this card. i dont know about you but i dont like dieing on turn 1.

i have a goyf' deck and i se kavu pretator in it. this can give me a 9/9 trampler on turn 3. should that be banned?

i think there are some decent arguements that say goyf should be banned but those same aurguement apply to alot more cards than tarmogloyf (tefirie/mystical teachings anyone?)

If there's one thing that is typically known, Smallpox in an aggro deck looking to win with several creatures is a bad idea. I understand its tremendous synergy with Tarmogoyf, and it's certainly great with it, but you need to cast pox, then play the goyf, then attack. On top of that, pox costs double black, and without an urborg in play, that really seems hard to do since you can't search black sources with flagstones.

i agree with you. maybe it would be better to take white out?

    imagine this:
t1: play terromorfic expanse or swamp or urborg
t2: swamp or urborg. play small pox
t3: forest. play a rather large tarmogoyf

maybe the deck just doesnt need white

My biggest concern right now is the correct configuration of the sideboard, basically the choices are of the following in my opinion :-

    Whirling Dervish
    Riftsweeper
    Disenchant
    Thrill of the Hunt
    Extirpate
    Stonecloaker
    Sunlance

The meta in my area has 4 decks which probably make up 90% of the meta. They are :-
    Mono Red Aggro
    Wafo-Tapa Slivers (basically identical builds)
U/B Control (Korlash version, Tendrils etc.)
    G/W or G/W/r Goyf.

What would be the best sideboard for such a metagame?

4 sunlance (a must have due to fourtune thief)
4 riftsweeper (awsome against RDW and good against teachings)
4 dormant sliver/thrill (depending on how many sliver decks there are)
2/3 stoncloaker (awsome mirror or even RDW/teachings to black a removel spell)
1 island (if u run the dormant)

if u run the dormants use a full set of expanses

I've been having very consisent results. Most of my losses are due not to this decks lack of ability, but my own play mistakes... (it happens to us all Cool ) However, Im starting to learn to correct it a bit with this deck and am loving the card interactions. The synergy in this deck is basically unmatched in Block right now.

However, heading into PTQs I am a bit worried about the hate that may be prevelant. The mirror doesnt really frighten me, I just dont feel like dealing with a meta full of SBs packed full of 'Goyf Hate.

EDIT: Do most people here prefer the red mana splash or are most sticking to solid :symgw:? I dont think the splash is worth it for Kavu Predator and Fiery Justice. Both are good cards but I dont think they are so good they are worth screwing with the mana base. Maybe Im missing something...
DOUBLE EDIT: I forgot about Dead//Gone, but again my point remains the same. I feel the cnsistency of the W/G mana build has such high consistency I dont know if I even wanna mess with it.

i looooooove the red splash. it gives you the chance to put a 9/9 (2 r/g FS lands or a lwanowar reborn. play turn 2 kavu then turn 3 fiery justice) in the red zone on turn 3. and it gives you dead//gone wich is an awsome card. also you can run gargodon in the SB for the teachings decks. also the "normal" g/w decks dont have a MD answer to foutune thief

nice article. its nice to see a good primer like this for regionals. i think you covered most of the important decks, but i would have liked to see more distiction between decks (eg the green based aggro decks) and more example decklists. good job.

Could you justify the cards a little more? the SB looks confusing

I would add a pulmonic sliver or two against ***. Looks pretty solid though. I might make it :p

    ok card justifactions:

    The power pump:
    Sinew Sliver
    Sedge Sliver
    Bonesplitter Sliver

    evasion:
    Two-Headed Sliver
    Sidewinder Sliver

    The burn:
    Lightning Helix
    Rift Bolt
    Volcanic Hammer
    Browbeat
    Cautery Sliver

    The SB:
Rain of Gore: a very under rated card. hurts all decks with lifegain.
Leyline of the Void: the graveyard hate. there are some stupid combo decks out there and this is the weapon against them
Disenchant: anti-artifact/enchantment. i dont actuely like having it there. maybe shadow of doubt instead?
Greater Gargadon: tech from the last couple of grand prixs. exellent against tendrals of corruption
Ghostflame Sliver: tech against pro sliver stuff
Swamp: extra swamp for the black SB cards

as for the pulmonic sliver; its too slow and doesnt help me. after a wrath (which will happen before the pulmonic hits) my opponent should be in burn range.

a nice deck exept i dont think you need 5 swamps when the deck has only 1 true black card and the sledge slivers. your running terromorphic expanse so you only need 1 or 2 if you cut the mindlash slivers. maybe for more burn? i also dont think you need the temperal isolations. they arnt burn lol and its an aggro deck just needs to do the 20 points needed.

sadly i did not like this article. mainly because wat you said was already said some where else or was incorect. if you are going to do a set review explain how the card will change the metagame and the top tier decks instead of just mentioning them.
