I made some pine drawers to put my cards. I tried to find what is best to put over the wood to protect the cards but I can't find something. In my case humidity is not a problem as I live in Canada and the temperature is not moving more than 5 degree Celcius during the year inside the house .

Does somebody has a link or already make some comparison between things like varnishes, paint, gluying some papers, plastic , cardboard, microfiber(which one?) or other things?

Wood is generally not recommended. However the Magic community is pretty much split roughly between so-called investors and everyone else. It's why the words "acide-free" and "archival safe" usually isn't synonymous with Magic and storage. Anyways, here is some information to point you in some direction.

First and foremost is this article that summarizes most of it. The key takeaway is that wood outgasses acetic acid (and/or Formaldehyde for processed woods) which is damaging to Magic cards. It's a similar sort of thing that attacks cards when they're stored in those awful three ring binders.

There are a myriad of other resources but much of it is generalized to try and cover multiple things (books, pottery, etc). Some of them include Gaylord, PEL, SAA, National Archives and National Park Service (yes, really). Buried somewhere in those sites is an excellent resource dealing with storage made from wood. Unfortunately, I can't find it anymore.

In the end, seal the wood as recommended in the article then add some sort of neutral buffer, such as buffer paper (purchasable from Gaylord) to line the drawers. There is an aluminum(?) based product used as a liner but I don't have experience with it.

Personally, I use a metal cabinet (I purchased one from IKEA) and store all my cards in paper boxes. I wish I could buy the archival boxes but those are mad expensive.

    Yes.

As I understood it, English collector's boosters have one slot which can contain... 45 different cards.

    - 19 English Godzilla series non-foils, exclusive
    - 19 English Godzilla series foils
    - 3 Japanese-only Godzilla series non-foils, exclusive
    - 3 Japanese-only Godzilla series foils
    - The Buy-A-Box promo non-foil only and exclusively (this was the case also for ELD and THB)

The box toppers are, as far as I know, always foils.

The collector's boosters should come in English and Japanese only, I think. The Japanese ones will, of course, only have Japanese box toppers. The non-Japanese exclusive Godzilla series cards (the 19 mentioned above) can be gotten exclusively in the Japanese collector's bxes.

Finally, again, as I understand it, the 19 foil actual box toppers that you can get one in a draft booster box will always be in the box language, so buy a Russian box, get a single Russian box topper.

According to the announcement on 2020/04/02 there are only 15 of the English series, 3 Japanese-only cards plus the non-foil Buy-A-Box promo to make up one of the 37 you an find in the collector packs.

Well.... two of those "sets" are actually blocks and Ravnica is part of a block even though WotC refuses to admit as much. Then you forgot Throne of Eldraine and Theros Beyond Death.

Can't say that I care all that much about that. That [strike]is[/strike] was what the blocks were for, of which Amonkhet, Ixalan, and Ravnica all fulfill. I generally prefer standalone sets that don't give two fuzzes about the sets released around that time.

That's not to say I actually like Dominaria or Ikoria. or any of the others. Recent release sets have their own problems.

In any case, WotC has said they do try to make an effort to make sure that new sets don't create too much or too little synergy with previous sets. Unfortunately, that doesn't always hold true. Field of the Dead is a great example when they "forget" and a card runs away.

The problem of "always a foil" or "never a foil" is that WotC will (not may, it's will) fall into the Nexus of Fate trap again too easily. Ironically, this is the inverse of the OG RL cards problem bit that's a different topic altogether.

It would work for Boom // bust. It wouldn't be destroyed.

That was the intent? Sorry, I thought you wanted to control when it went to the graveyard in order to create your 2/2. I figured that's why you mentioned Crack the Earth, to give you some means of casting what might otherwise be a dead card.

I've always been kind of partial to Zuran Orb, Crucible of Worlds and Exploration type of land abuse myself. I mean, there's a reason why Fastbond is only legal in one format.

But I digress, Boom // Bust wouldn't work with your card as-is. It is indestructible after all. Wink

In addition, I don't recall any card that produces "generic" creature tokens so you need a creature type on there.

Wow, that trilobite is colorless, but it's neither an eldrazi nor an artifact! Is this a first?
    I quite like that design.

Unfortunatelly Ugin's Conjurant and Scion of Ugin did it first, but yay this is a very good card, same for the red one.

I wonder what compelled them to decide to make the trilobite colorless from a flavor standpoint

The badgersaur thingy is pretty decent, i want to try it out in a couple of edh builds

Probably because they're "ancient". Hung out for around 300 million years and died off 250ish million years ago. Earth plane if you must. Since the Eldrazi are also "ancient" beings according to the lore and they are colorless then I guess it stands to reason that a trilobite is also colorless as well. I don't really follow the Planeswalkers lore very much, only what I read in passing, I'm quite confident someone else will come along and correct me. Rolleyes

i dunno man, sure they're millions of earth years older than dinosaurs, but dinosaurs are still colored and they're ancient too on earth's timeline. we also have electryte in red already. most likely there is no flavor reason and they figured colorless so every edh can jam it

Sure Smileup I pretty much lost interest in the lore for awhile now so I'll just go with your answer.

There's also Dunes of the Dead unless you specifically wanted to create a 1/1?

Yours is a bit more interesting because it seems to work with cards like Ruin Ghost or Venser, the Sojourner to grant you a token every turn. A trick that doesn't work with the the similar lands mentioned

I don't think that's the correct wording for a card like that though. The term "play" usage in this context is basically obsolete. I think the more modern phrasing is:
"When ~ leaves the battlefield, create a 1/1 green Saproling creature token"

I hope he didn't abuse his word play so much that it's Companion....

What 2 letters to take out of this and add 1 to make it a former mechanic then?

Champion? Take out H and add O & N and you have Companion.

Yea but it’s static ability for all is what the hinted card does it can’t be companion because it’s legends exclusive and it’s for all creatures you control

It also can be interpreted that card itself isn't actually an existing keyworded ability. Just that it has the same name as such and such with letters blah blah.

Would it really be too strong if it said any target? In Standard at least, it wouldn't be too bad.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. But WotC probably didn't want to create a deck where one could draw 21+cards into their hand, cast this, then kill the opponent out of the blue.

Unless it's literally Companion, does it matter? Laugh

Think about what "counter" actually means and think about its past context in the game. There was a reason why designers stayed away from creating a flying "counter" until this set. Like I mentioned elsewhere, WotC should have called these non-stackable abilities anything but a counter.

  • posted a message on How will Companion be enforced?
It's a good question. Especially as the companion card gies into the sideboard to be able to use the companion portion. There isn't a good way to verify it meets the qualifications outside of what you describe. However, if I understand it right, the Companion must be declared and shown to your opponent before the game starts. This prevents the use of using more than one companion as a companion at the same time and allows you time to call a judge for a deck check I guess. edit: Rosy Dimplings articulated it better than I did.

In other formats, such as EDH, there is a social contract that keeps things uh... aligned.

To make it even more interesting, Companion is optional. So see I a distinct possibility that cheaters can flat out say they "forgot" that their companion isn't qualified for their deck. The way I'm reading the article, the Companion only checks whether your 60 is legal, not the sideboard. So you can have two companion in your sideboard and sudeboard your deck negating one and validating the other.
