I SAID I WANTED A LOW-COST GOD, NOT A LOCUST GOD! DAMN IT BOLAS, GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME!

It's been confirmed that this cycle of gods will cost 5-6 mana : /

Yea I was disappointed but I get their logic, they don't want "God" being mechanically tied to being undercosted and indestructible but requiring some kind of condition to function as a creature. For amonhket it serves to distinguish the original gods from Bolas' Gods (that's what I took from it, I'm not a story expert though).

The final one will be U/B won't it? It might have a better shot at cracking it's guild as 5-6 cost recursive beaters with instant speed mana sinks are more in that pairs wheelhouse.

It's is great in my experience, I really want some 4 mana 5/5 guys with some kind of ability. Dreadbridge Golliath was ok, but didn't hang about too long.

He is great at killing utility guys or keeps your opponent from playing them whilst beating face. Often he comes down turn 3, then turn 4 he kills a guy or two and beats for 7.

For my last meal I would go for a comically large pizza with all the meats and BBQ dip on the side for the crust. After that I'd be so full I would proabaly take the sweet release of death.

I think I would prefer Sphinx of Uthuun most of the time. It's 1 more expensive but it has the full FoF effect and a better body (both on offence and defence).

Sphinx tribal is amusing for commander but I don't think it's much more than trinket text for most cubes (although like all tribal there is the usual changeling upsides), I think I have 1-2 non changling sphinxes.

It is a bit of a "win more" effect, but it does seem very powerful. I'll have to check my Golgari section to see if I can sneak this in.

I wouldn't say it's "win more"; early on it generates some card advantage (or at least replaces itself whilst forcing through damage) and later on it helps break through on a stalled board whilst stripping their hand. Sure it will win games where you are ahead, but at parody or a board where you big guys are getting chumped it still does a lot of work.

Having it in the graveyard also puts pressure on the opponent because it messes with their combat math and pushes them to over commit to the board.

In my cube it's not unusual to have some spare bodies. Drawing off spare elves or your midrange beaters is great, even if it only draws 1-2 the granting trample rounds it out.

Menace is a pretty legit evasion as well, it is going to force some bad trades and since they can't chump the small bodies I think they are usually going to drop 2-3 cards.

Casting both halves on one turn seems back breaking and will probably do some amazing work if you have any kind of board.

I'll maybe have to fudge some numbers and see where I can slot it in.

Even outside of agro its not too bad; I would play this in midrange, tokens or anything with a lot of elves.

I would assume between both halves I'm getting a decent amount of card advantage, plus both halves give me some form of evasion. Cash it in early for a couple of cards then force through the last few points with menace.

I might give it a shot, seems promicing.

With haste maybe I would have been more interested, but as it is it seems a bit slow.

It always gets in to some degree, so that's neat, and you can cast two spells a turn, but I like all my current options better. Might consider if it tests well for others.

3 unblockable damage on my non-hasty 5 drop is a pretty low floor

Yeah it's definitely not great. 'neat' is not exactly a ringing endorsement lol

Fair enough, though you were missing just how low the floor was. Definitly a neat card, reminds me of Rakdos, Lord of Riots (who I cubed with once upon a time)

3 unblockable damage on my non-hasty 5 drop is a pretty low floor, the mana is dependant on him surviving combat (I assume he need to be about after combat for it to trigger).

Glad to hear it was a good inclusion. Unfortunately it was countered both times I tried to cast it in my last draft, but it theoretically had good targets both times. I have high hopes.

Good card is good, but I don't run it for power reasons.

    I have an alpha/beta Island, I think that's all.

I love Cogwork Librarian, it will likely NEVER make the main deck, but if you used him right the extra cards he netted you should always make it in. Trading a late pick in one pack for a double pick somewhere else is a great deal and avoids those "Sophie's Choice" moments where you open pack bursting with synergy. Pretty sure I have first picked him a number of times when my pack isn't pulling me in any direction in particular.

It's just a super fun and unique card that really only has a home in cube. Even if you don't enjoy the other conspiracy or draft matters cards I would probably recommend this above all the others.

It also makes for a little game of "Old Maid" where you are trying to avoid getting handed it last pick, It doesn't really effect you but we usually have a laugh about it but I have been considering making whoever has it at the end keep score. We also have a house rule where you can't ban him if we are doing "pick 1, ban 1" style drafting.

I have a few conspiracies and have enjoyed them a lot but a few of them are on the chopping block, the main offender is double stroke for power reasons as it has too many back-breaking targets (fiery confluence being a recent one, 12 to each opponent for 4)

So how is reveillark holding up? I picked on up and have slotted it in to see how it goes but I'm interested to know if some of the newer 5 drops edge it out.

i imagine the black one will be some sort of duress.
I'm having trouble with the red one tho. most likely a burn spell but how do you make sure it kills chandra? all this other get rid of the PW no matter their loyalty, the burn spell could be stopped by a high loyalty. the way around it is to make it deal a huge amount of damage but then you'd have to up the CMC and so fare they all seem to be 1/2

It could just be a searing spear that deals double (or triple) to Chandra Planeswalkers or copies itself if Chandra is a target, the copy version would mean that you can always kill a Chandra and have 3 damage to burn something else (just point them at Chandra till she is dead then fire the last copy elsewhere).

I just realised, this set lets magic players tap some booty. Wizards are basically printing money.
