[quote from="Convoy_Avenger »" url="http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/forum-games/forum-magic/770064-perfect-hand-magic-league-life-rule-submit-hands?comment=2"]I assume the objective is to still win, just no draws occur in this round? Highest health wins if it comes down to it?
its perfectly viable to draw out the game with the plan of having more life
Note, though, rule 7.5b: "A player must choose an opening hand that enables that player to win both games of a match against at least one legal hand, irrespective of rule 7.5a."
Regardless of how you intend to win in practice, the hand you submit must be capable of doing so without the benefit of the life rule.
About the Split Second thing, I have rules problems about priority:
You play Kamahl, Fist of Krosa, which I can't respond to. Then you decide to use its damage ability. Is there a window where I get priority and Lightning Bolt him?
The question may seem stupid, but after the Alliance of Arms affaire, I better ask!
I think you're asking about Kamahl, Pit Fighter. In any event, you can bolt after Kamahl's ability is activated.
Once the spell resolves, the active player has priority first. If for some reason Kamahl were cast on your turn, then you could bolt it before Kamahl's ability could be activated.
BronYAur's question needs answering.
Also, unless the hands to beat are something special, I think this format was more-or-less solved back in PHML 43.03.
I'm looking for recommendations on non-fiction non-strategy Magic books. Specifically, I like learning about the history of the game and prefer the longer format of a book or collection of articles than reading an article here and article there.
The books I've read so far include:
So Do You Wear a Cape? (Titus Chalk - a general history of the game with personal insights)
History of Vintage (Stephen Menendian - irregularly published chapters covering each year of vintage Magic up to 2004 last I checked)
Secret Force: Quest for the Pro Tour, Parts 1 and 2 (Jamie Wakefield - a collection of articles and tournaments reports from the 90's)
That's it. I've really struggled to find anything more, which is why I made this post. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks!
Due to Artscrafter's hand, I slightly regret not submitting Progitus instead of Army, which was the most obvious candidate for that slot - what a difference small changes can make!
I would also like to Propose a ban on Emrakul. It has become the go-to and often correct and oppressive win condition in many rounds (not just with Isle). I think that many of these formats would be more diverse if players had to at least settle for Kozilek in its place.
psyl4mne has pointed out that a rule clarification is necessary this round: all four cards submitted count as your "hand" for purposes of submission, notably disallowing you from submitting cards on the ban list by a literal reading of 3.3 :)
So, to be clear: cards on the PHM and Land Rule banned list can't be submitted this round as any of the four cards.
I just noticed that the "Additional Banned List" section says "None" - cards on the land rule banned list are always banned in land rule formats.
It would be really nice if the round deadline were posted in the thread.
I agree. I think the nominal time was Tuesday GMT +7 for a long time, though these results were posted a bit before then.
My Line:
Nevermore / Warden of the First Tree
X| 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
2| 6 X 6 6 6 6 6 | 36 | 600
Nothing complicated here.
EDIT: 2-6: 3->6: I totally forgot about SNP's point that I could keep Warden on 1 power to attack through Bridge.
Also, two hopefully helpful comments to the PHM moderator:
1) A new post when the hands have gone up would increase visibility; I didn't check this thread until I saw that there were new posts.
2) Tom's system of listing players alphabetically has been surprisingly helpful for compiling the final four-week scores for each PHML.

Black Lotus / Black Lotus / Chronatog / Nevermore
X| 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0
5| 6 6 6 3 X 6 3 4 3 6 | 40 | 467
I agree with all of my matches that have been posted so far.

Based on that, my results are as follows:
3| Mental Missrep / Shelldock Isle // Army of the Damned / Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
X| 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0
3| 0 6 X 6 6 3 6 6 6 3 | 40 | 444

It does. In my breakdown above, I cast Pardic Dragon three turns after I suspend it, due to your morph.
5) Catch // Release / Greater Gargadon / Pardic Dragon
X| 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 1 2
5| 6 6 6 6 X 6 6 6 3 6 6 6 | 62 | 564
Most matches are straightforward, so I won't go into detail from my phone.
One match is more complicated, 5-9:
S: 1 land
M: 1, suspend Gargadon
S: 2
M: 2, 9 time counters, suspend Dragon
S: 3, morph
M: 3, 7, 3, Catch and sacrifice a land
S: 3, attack
M: 18, 4, 6, 1
S: 4, attack
M: 16, 5, 5, 0, Dragon, pump four times, sacrifice five lands, Gargadon, attack
S: 3, 5, Shriekmaw (Dragon)
M: attack (Shriekmaw blocks)
S: 3, 6, Renaissance
M: attack, morph blocks
S: 3, 7, Shriekmaw, win
Playing first, though, my hand is fast enough.
Is Ley Line banned?
