I think the biggest problem with how this plane feels is the set doesn't focus mainly on an egyptian-like society, but on Bolas' sandbox with added egyptian flavor.
In that way it makes sense that we don't see any other cities or pharaos (how would Bolas allow for any other ruler than himself), but it feels a bit lacking in some aspects.
However, I wouldn't say this set is a complete flavor fail. I like the heavy emphasis on death and the afterlive. Also i.e. minotaurs might not be the most egyptian thing, but in this ram-people iteration, they don't feel out of place either.
And for all complaining about the gods feeling less impressive in comparison to the theros ones: The gods of Theros are very powerfull, actually godly beings that act to their own liking, while the Amonkhet ones are installed by Bolas to herd his people - makes sense for them to be less outstanding imo.
In case anyone wondered, flavor text translates to:
"The Hekma protects the city from sandstorms and monsters, but nothing can stop the searing heat of the suns"
Well, it could definitley turn out to be too slow and/or too easily disruptable. The potential payoff looks great though and cmc 3 is not that expensive, so might still be worth it.
Our hover-over links use the most recent version of the card that was added to the database. The only way to bypass that is to delete an older version and add it back to the database, which would erase all memory of that card for pricing and trading trends.
But why thinking about bypassing it instead of just updating the function? I'd imagine it to be a minor update to add some 'excludeFromTooltips' flag to the database and check for it in addition to creation date on fetching the card version to show.
Obviously I don't know your current implementation, so I might be missing potential problems here, just seems to be easily solvable.
ooh, nice - definitely an improvement over the original printing. I absolutely loathe future sight frames and though Rececca Guay did some amazing artworks, that derpbird isn't one of them imo.
I already was considering to replace it with the invocation in my Ephara deck, but wasn't thrilled by the thought to pay premium for another kinda awkwardly framed version... so I like this a lot
Embalm is an activated ability, but (at the time you activate it) one of a creature card in your graveyard, not of a creature you control, so Training Grounds' discount doesn't apply.
specifically stating the token is white is indeed neccessary, since the non-token version is white due to its mana cost, which the token lacks.
So could be an exclusively white mechanic, could come up in other colors where it creates zombies of the respective color (or still white tokens, who knows?)

Also we had an embalm token for aven initiate posted in the mothership thread (bottom of page 1), probably a blue card.
I'd say all-in effects like this are pretty red, so nothing to complain about color pie really.
Also, that's a mythic-feeling mythic, if I've ever seen one, like it a lot.
Maybe not quite combos, but at least strong synergies - just looking into standard, this goes nicely with collective defiance and/or cathartic reunion
"The Hekma protects the city from sandstorms and monsters, but nothing can stop the searing heat of the suns"
Meh, it's single-target, very slow and easy to answer... there is a lot more you can do with 7 mana in EDH.
It's a once-per-turn auto-edict, so not too bad of an effect, but seems far to expensive to be playable anywhere.
