came here for the one mana exile wurmcoil/ulamog. defo preordering some copies. starting to sell out of paper 'cause i dont get to play often enough anymore but i'll 100% be keeping my tezz deck. hope to see a new playable version in core 2019 too! though AoB with alt. artwork would be awesome too!

hey guys. so i've had a quick glance over the posts from the last couple weeks but can someone summarise what the big changes/notions have been? to me it looks like we're switching more to a velocity/blue-based deck with even less black spells than before. seen the lists running white but thats never gonna happen for me because i just dont like playing white :p

also get the impression infinite combo is back in fashion again? anything else?

hey guys, just stopping in while i have some time, RE dropping tezz, fatal push is still a thing, im seeing quite a few lists not playing much removal. my advice to deal with aggro is more removal, or more bridge and brutality. or both. but dropping tezz i still think is a mistake, i wouldn't go below 3. but ive not been paying as much attention recently so maybe im wrong.

RE damping sphere, i like the 1 main 2 SB split, as for board the weatherlight, do you guys think its worth dropping decay for it?

honestly dont think dominaria has been that great for us, but how much longer can it be before we get another artifact themed block? surely we'll be going back to phyrexia soon?! :p

p.s. i doubt anyone really cares but i won my comp a couple weeks back, not relevant to the discussion but i was ill and had 7 fights with the flu so i think that at least grants me bragging rights Grin

2 tezz decks day 2'd GP kyoto so thats cool. i've not had a chance to play for a while now and i've been busy with work and training, i've got a comp lined up for a couple weeks so magic is taking a back seat to fighting right now and for the foreseeable future as im planning on competing a few times in the next few months. i'll try and keep up to date with the deck when i can but i won't be contributing since i probably won't be of much help. hope every one is having a blast with the deck though and i'll be back eventually Smile

Do you see 2 spots in the board? Short of storm making a bunch of goblins bridge isnt great in either of those matchups so it seems like an easy 2 in 2 out swap?

I like the idea of having a one-of main just for tha ability to try and steal some g1's vs storm and tron, especially since i think those matchups get a bit easier for us postboard. However bridge + orb + jar is enough of a lock against anything that isnt tron, lantern, and mill that it may be correct to just play it in the board.

might be something to talk about next month when it becomes relevant but don't see any harm in at least mentioning it right now... in my very brief testing with 1 main deck damping sphere, i don't think 21 lands + visions is enough once sphere is in play, it becomes important to have open mana to cast numerous spells per turn in order to get under bridge, play combo pieces etc. i've dropped prism for land #23, big tezz, witchbane orb main and damping sphere.

i've also made room for the 3rd bridge. having bridge in hand and being able to save whir for lock/combo pieces is a great feeling and keeps our lines of play open instead of just leaving us in top deck situations.

also hearing about zak's luck with 2 tron matchups makes me kinda sad but also stoked we're getting a 2 mana hoser that's a perfect fit for our deck. damping sphere and dominaria cannot come quick enough! :p

travis went to 9-2. +1'd tezz and didn't get a chance to untap with it. jund went down to 6 with bob, can't help thinking it might have been different if tezz made a 5/5 instead.

i think the play was going to be plus into an artifact (with spellbomb, opal, prism on board) and get a quick ult a turn or two after.
still cool to see someone doing pretty well with the deck!!

with all the recent success others have been having i think it might be time to dust off our chalices and put them in the main in favour of our 1 CMC slot. between chalice, bridge, orb, crucible, and now sphere it would be super hard for anyone to try and not be locked out against us, especially if we have a welding jar as backup. thoptersword could just be a late game thing against non stony decks and otherwise i think there are now enough artifacts with no activated ability that we can just win with tezz ult.

i've noticed as well we're the only whir deck playing non-opal ramp (i.e. prism, talismans). are we over exaggerating their use? sure they allow super broken whirs but they're bad top decks and end up being sacced to a foundry in my experience to try and stay alive. i'd much rather have the 3rd bridge and some more lock pieces/better artifacts. after all any artifact we play will tap for at least 1 mana but things like sphere and chalice also help slow our opponents down to a much more manageable pace. lantern is a deck that plays less lands than us but still rocks the full playset of whir, if they can manage is i dont see why we can't also.

So obviously damping sphere is great for us, i also want to talk about mox amber.

Just read the actual translation of the card and its a lot less impressive than the dodgy one i read
