I just finished the story and wow, it was great! My favorite part is when it goes all '2001: A Space Odessy' with Tazri experiencing infinity. And that the other legendary characters got some screen time is great too.
The angel subplot def gave Tazri the room to grow and lead. And Tazri's interactions with Drana were were good, especially when both are sizing each other up and Tazri's subconscious is telling her "so what if the vampire is thousands of years old, you survived Infinity!"

For those that adopted Ruin in Their Wake, how consistently have you met the Wastes requirement and put the searched up land onto the battlefield?

Thanks for posting this! I had trouble wrapping my mind around how Emrakul's abilities worked given the change to 'only affecting living things,' when I thought Em warped time, gravity, and reality. This def has me interested in how Em's powers are presented when Em shows up next.

Maybe it's how you stated on the 'Time=Evolution,' where Em speeds up the biological clock of organics to varying levels to induce mutation. And I can also see how Em's Wastes are dust because Em rapidly accelerates the organics' time and they age to dust in an instant (think Last Crusade ;)).

    Conclusion
This is getting long so I'll wrap it up. MaRo isn't totally off base with black - he's 95% there. But the small tweaks above wouldn't affect how any cards are made, but would improve the flavor by allowing black to have heroes. That there is no black hero in the Oath of the Gatewatch story is a very telling clue that the creative team at WotC has contented themselves with making sure black is always a villain.

The BFZ story line did have a black hero in Drana, who's short story was one of the best of the story line's entries. Whether or not she shows up in an Oath entry is to be seen, but her portrayal thus far shows not all black heroes can be done decently.

After thinking on Ruin in Their Wake, I do like the sequence of T2 Ruin, T3 Explosive Vegetation, T4 Dragonlord Atarka/7 drop. Would it have killed Wizards though to just have "You may that card onto the battlefield tapped if you paid colorless mana for this spell."?

What do we think of Ruin in Their Wake? It's a two drop ramp spell G/r can use, but the mana would need reworking.

EDIT: After thinking about it, the thought of Ruin on T2, Explosive Vegetation on T3, followed up by 7 drop/Atarka on T4 would be nice.

So we did get the two mana ramp spell, Ruin in Their Wake, but the requirement of Wastes kinda hurts. G/r Eldrazi will def need to rework the mana base.

Wait a minute... Isnt this the second version of the phyrexian mana counter that was banned because every deck started playing it??

Why wouldnt u play this? Hits loads of critters in modern and even legacy.

    Stoneforge
    Delver
    Bob
    Bop
    Hierarch
    Elfs
    Goblins

And countering sorceries? Combo decks take a huge hit. Even if not facing blue they have to be careful.

    Third ability? Just gravy!

Mental Mistep this is not. But it does do a lot of great things!

So the Art of Zendikar book says that 'Jace goes to Innistrad to look for Sorin, Nahiri, and Emrakul.' This is a summary of a summary, but goes a long way to show that we'll see Emrakul at some point in our new visit to Innistrad.

I understand that BW is the most talked about version of the deck, but is anyone working on updates to the BR and Mono B versions? I have most everything to build either of the three versions, especially once I pick up at least one more Eye, but would like to try the BR and Mono B ones first.

For BR, are we looking to be aggressive, especially once Reality Smasher comes out? Or do we stay midrange?

For Mono B, I do like the mana base, but are Maps needed as a 4 of? And has anyone tried Devour Flesh as a cheap and instant edict?

I know some of these questions are a bit scattered, but it seems like these two fell out of the discussion many pages ago. Thanks for any help!

This UR started ok and then stuck the landing. I was pleasantly surprised when the narrative switched from Nissa to Ob. I felt like I was skimming hers, but really got into Ob's section. Ob is soooo fun!

    EDIT:
    Also, my favorite Ob quote:
"He interrupted me with a slash from his metal...quadruple...whip thing. Was he actually wielding a sural?"

I really enjoy the piece showing Kozilek and Ulamog. I like the trails of waste following them and the destruction they are presumably dishing out.
The art is dark and the only real light source highlights the waste, which to me, gives the sense of hopelessness.
Cannot wait to see what cards gets this one.
I like it too. But I doubt it is going to be in a card. Its more of a uncharted realms picture

I'm just saying, the last time I thought this was for the art for Kozilek's Return, which was in the UR before the Christmas break. Another member said the same thing at the time, and then the card was spoiled on here. So you never know Wink

I do wish Emrakul was in that piece too; would love to have a playmat with all three like that.

And how many people have said there's no confusion between generic mana cost and colorless mana generation? :p

I've been watching the posts on the Facebook feed and this couldn't be more true haha

The Facebook post from WoTC does say that the colorless symbol will be used in Magic going forward, not just Oath.
