Was using sultai and went 4-2 in today's pptq. Met 5 grixis energy, 1 mardu. Won 4 grixis.
I think hostage taker still got a place. Dun quite fancy jadelight ranger but not much alternatives.
Who needs scarab god when we have Journey to Eternity?
Because I'd rather play your creatures against you when you try to raise them from the dead.
After some serious testing last night, I legitimately believe Sultai is still good. I just don't have many blue spells I really want in the main deck other than Scarab God. I've kept a fairly similar sideboard. Maybe I should keep Hostage Taker?
The only downside to sultai is the mana fixing. Splashing blue is still viable w servants but in a strictly bg shell, journey does a fine job.
Sooo.. i've been in 3 top8 pptqs this season, 1 of them i was in the finals. Loving yhe deck but it just seems to be missing out on somethinh.
I'm thinking of putting in 2x viziers mb. What do u guys think? Copy a scarab god or glorybringer. For 4 mana, it's really versatile in this creature heavy meta. Even copies a taker otb n steal something else. Will take out 1 hydra n sacrab from my mb n try it out.
Of cos no one is right or wrong. Is RR a flexi slot? Not too sure. If we wanted to go aggro, Rampager is something we should really look at but Sultai is currently a midrange deck and RR helps in that sense.
Maybe the new set will bring something better? I personally think that we can play with the numbers of RR, WB and HT in the list. For example, i play 2x HT and 1x BH. Seeing Seth playing with 3 WB, i'm quite interested to add in a 2nd Hydra.
I think RR is a filler for now. It's not as bad as most people think.
Pros:
Evades a non-revolted Fatal Push.
Draws a card & gets 2 energy.
Chump blocker.
Cons:
Dies to all red removal spells
Weak body
Possible replacements:
Greenbelt Rampager
Deathgourge Scavenger
Shielded Aether Thief
Champion of Wits
Or even Bristling Hydra
To anyone that plays the Sultai list, do you feel ok with only 4 removal spells? It feels extremely bad for me. Been brewing with JUND splashing blue for scarab god.
I think if ur in Jund, u definitely need Lightning Strike and drop Blossoming Defense.
There was 1 ramunap, 1 br aggro, 2 ub control, 1 temur and 3 sultai in my top8. I met a temur in rd5 and hostage taker on glorybringer w a defense up, was a huge tempo swing.
I think 2 takers mb should be the way to go imo. Cos players are now trying to play around taker and sometimes are prepared for it
Dammmm. I've been playing it wrong all these yrs. Lol
Removing Image seems like a bad idea though. Live the dream, when u coco into capt n image..
Cut some SS n MW for 4 Phantoms?

Anyone interested to join a fb grp solely for hate bears?
