I have no experiences with MTGO, but does anyone else find it highly suspicious that there are 27 positive posts on just the last two pages in this thread from new users?

Are we really expected to believe:
-- an average of 5 people every month are CREATING an account on MTG Salvation, JUST to post a positive MTGO experience, often posting on the day of account creation,
-- and then NEVER posting again on MTG Salvation?

Nearly 30 times, in the last 5 months?

I looked at the last 2 pages of the Star City Games store thread, and there were ZERO new posters leaving a comment. On Troll and Toad's last two pages? ONE. But we're expected to believe MTGO has 27? Also, MTGO's last two pages of comments go back only as far as January of this year, meaning they're getting 5 or 6 comments per month, whereas Star City, Troll and Toad, Channel Fireball, CoolStuffInc and the like are getting less than one post per month? Star City's last two pages on MTG Salvation go back 29 months, but it takes less than 6 months for MTGO to get the same number of comments? All of this stinks like phony accounts intended to give a positive impression.

PS, I'm considering it 1 post when a single poster makes back-to-back or nearly back-to-back posts and have a total post count of 2.

Hey, good observation and I can see why it looks suspicious. When people sell their collections we have a list of some places they can leave feedback about their transaction and this is one of the places on the list. Nothing more than that and I hope what we are doing is not a problem. We did not intend for people to create a new account just to leave feedback but I guess that's not the worst thing that could happen from the site's perspective because hopefully some of them become active members. If you have any other questions feel free to ask away. No smoke and mirrors here. Smile

Chas Andres wrote a really good article on how to get started with MTGO here http://www.mtgotraders.com/mtgo-guide/
I would also checkout the videos we have on there by the professor. He is fun to watch and good at clearly explaining things.

So, I go to their website, order the cards, then open a trade with one of their bots to collect? Still a bit foggy on the whole process. Thanks for the reply though.
Either way works. You can just find the bot in Trade and just open a trade. Then, search their inventory to find what you want. When you have everything, click submit and the bot will automatically take enough TIX to cover it. If your total is not an even amount (say, 6.53 tix) they will take enough to cover it (7 tix in this case) and then leave you with a credit. Make sure you have enough Tix tradeable before starting the process or you will need to exit the bot, make your Tix tradeable, then start everything over again.

You can also go to a website and pay through Paypal or Tix. I almost exclusively use the two PanterCanes mentioned (Cardhoarder and MTGOTraders). Both offer an automated delivery and they will initialize it so you will see a trade request come in when your order is ready. It usually takes less than 20 minutes. Cardhoarder also allows for a "human" delivery so you will be working with an actual person to get your cards. In this case, I usually start a chat with them in MTGO to tell them the order and then they get back to me with a trade request when it is ready.

There are other bots that don't have a website to order from. They still leave you with a credit, but it is generally best to use the same 2 or 3 bots each time so you don't have .40 in credit at 10 different bots as that becomes a lot to keep track of. One I use for this is GoatBots. They do have a website where you can search through their bots to see which one has cards in stock, but you still need to go through MTGO to tarde with them.

We also have a human delivery option at checkout and if you are using paypal you can use code mtgsallypaypal for 8% off your order. Here is a short video walkthrough of how to pickup your cards from us using automated delivery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Hmi2BXoHCY Please let me know if you have any questions and welcome to MTGO!

Only select few stores have the capital to spend 200k or even 100k on a website,

Would be more like 300k + full time programmer to manage it to build a site that can do most of what crystalcommerce can do. Frown

So, I'm new to MTGO and I'd like to buy a deck from a webstore (MTGOTraders) and they have the option to make an automatic trade with the bot.

My question is: Is this safe? How does this work? I log in and I already have the cards on my account? I have to make a trade with the bot? How would that work if I already paid?

I'd appreciate understanding an patience, I don't quite understand much of MTGO.

    Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the very long delay. I do not check these forums as often since the switch to curse. With automated delivery we have deliverybots(we call them autobots) and their names are deliverybot(2-10). If you select automated delivery one of them will message you to deliver your order. Just check your chat settings to make sure you are not blocking chat as that is the most common issue. We are working on a way where they will be able to deliver orders during after hours and much faster. Currently the way it's setup is a human has to manually approve each order but that will be changing soon. We will still keep the same hours of live support though which is 6am-3am EST.

Not sure I buy that as a valid excuse. If you as a seller are going to list the same stock on multiple platforms with no integration with one another, you should be implementing a technology solution to ensure that those platforms stay in sync and that you're honestly representing to your customers the items you are advertising for sale. If you can't do that, and you still choose to offer up the same inventory for sale in multiple places for the sake of increased sales, you're choosing profit over customer service and honest dealings with your buyers just as surely as the guy who cancels orders simply because he can hold the card and resell it for 3x the price.

I politely disagree with your argument because there is a system in place to prevent oversells but it's not perfect and as the system is being overloaded with the amount of orders and the potential for issues goes up drastically. Crystalcommerce had a huge issue this banlist update which caused a ton of stores to oversell. I really wish we could afford a new custom site but to do a site with a back-end that is comparable to what we have now would easily cost over $200k and I just don't have that much money sitting aside to invest. Of course I hope that changes one day. We may just take all of our inventory down next time instead.

I did not see tcgplayer on list, but I thought ive heard they have done this before, anybody else heard anything like this? (First post)

TCGPlayer recently had a ton of oversells after the modern banlist. I know I personally had to cancel a few orders due to oversells because like a lot of stores our cards are listed on multiple venues(tcgplayer, amazon, ebay) so when multiple people buy from multiple places including my own site it can cause an oversell.

Definitely the risk associated with listing the same inventory in multiple places. Understandable though, just unfortunate when those runs on cards like that come, as it leaves some unhappy customers and can lead to some unfortunate negative PR online from said people who weren't able to get what they ordered. I am curious though, how quickly does the inventory normally update between the sites, and is it automatic or do you have to manually adjust it? I personally would be too worried at running into an issue of overselling to ever list the same inventory in multiple places, (why I always used to separate shop vs ebay inventory for example to avoid such issues.)

This is what every single large store does that uses crystalcommerce. If you want to be first in queue you can buy direct from the store instead of through amazon/tcgplayer/ebay because you're going directly through the site. A lot of stores also offer discounts for buying directly since we save on fees.

During unbannings/bannings this is the only time we really run into this issue and typically people are very understanding as the system gets really overloaded. Next time we may just take our inventory offline on all 3rd party sites for 30 minutes or something to try to combat this.

If you ever want to sell a TON of tickets we also offer wires with a flat wire fee. This only makes sense if the paypal fees are going to be over $40. We have some guys that sell 10,000 at a time and that works out well for them.

Yeah, I've argued this same point but they fall under the same category as antiques or anything else that is being resold. A shop that is not collecting taxes on singles is running a huge risk of some pretty major fines that could shut down most stores. I wish we didn't have to charge taxes. Make sure to use a coupon when you order from us as that will help a lot. mtgsally gives you 5% off.

If I were to sell some tickets to mtgotraders, how is it paid? Paypal gift? Paypal for goods? Do you pay any extra for 4-fig ticket sales?

We do regular PayPal but we can also do a wire or check. There are no fees for a check in the US. We always pay .95 no matter how many we are buying. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

We could do that but most people do not want to buy open packs due to the possibility that they have been mapped out. At our store locally we have a "booster grab bag" where the boosters are discounted and you reach in and grab a random booster. We have put some old valuable stuff in there as well to make it more fun.

I could probably build a custom item for you if you wanted to order that from us. We have open boxes in our store for our local customers so I do not see why I could not just grab the boosters from those and make a custom box. Let me know if that is something you want me to do. You can also e-mail me at info@capefeargames.com if that is easier.
