  • posted a message on Boomerang + Rest In Peace
Boomerang wil go to the graveyard. That is because the bounce of Rest in Peace happens during its resolution, so the enchantment is gone (and with it its replacement effect) by the time the instant finishes resolving, the last step of which is being put into the graveyard. So when that last step happens, nothing is there to try and replace that event.

Diabolic Servitude exile is a triggered ability, not a replacement effect. So the card goes to the graveyard, and that trigers the exile, which happens from the graveyard, when that trigger resolves. Since the card does go to the graveyard, any dies triggers can trigger of of it. And if the card leaves the graveyard before the exile trigger resolves, it is not exiled, because the object to exile doesn't exist anymore. If there was some replacement effect causing the exile instead, like a Samurai of the Pale Curtain on the field, then the creature would never go to the graveyard but go directly to exile.

    Edit:
You can determine an triggered abilty by the use of the words "when", "whenever" or "at. All triggered abilities use those, without exception.

You can determine a replacement effect by the use of the words/phrases "instead", "as [this] enters the battlefield", or "[this] enters the battlefield with".

  • posted a message on Mono-U aggro
    Hi all,

I was toying for some time now with the idea of building a monoblue pauper aggro deck. Though it doesn't have to stay monoblue, all the cards that I'm thinking about can be played in that color, so no reason so far to branch out. I have no finished deck list, just some card ideas, that I think would work good together. It's not meant for any serious play, just something to pull out of the bag should my friends want to go for some pauper games. Here's the unrefined list as of now:

Neither. "until end of turn" is the duration of the effect created by the resolving ability. When the duration expires, the effect ends, and you regain control of the creature. It is not linked to the artifact nor the creature. Note, that removing the artifact will allow your opponent to attack you with your creature, since that is a continuous effect of the artifact itself, and it's gone, but then it also loses haste, so he has to grant it that himself to attack.

    Quote from Ebonclaw »
Yeah, overgrowth is the only one that lets a land tap for 3 on its own. As someone who used to play Enchantress EDH, trust me, it's the only one.

Except that there are also Market Festival and Dawn's Reflection.

  • posted a message on cards that add mana
Having done a very broad gatherer search, I can say with very high certainty, that no such card exists. And seeing as Wizards has to try very hard to balance even cards that let all (your) lands produce twice as much mana as usual, as a permanent effect nonetheless, a card that triples the mana output of your lands would be broken and thus would not be printed. Chances are, you're remembering incorrectly, or more likely, the card you saw was incorrectly interpreted and wrongly played.

That's not to say, that the card you're thinking of does not exist, just that it doesn't do what you think. One more important detail for finding the card would be its age. Do you remember the set/block/product or time frame that is is from or wether it has the old card frame (pre 8th edition) or the modern one (8th edition and younger)?

"The next end step" is the very next end step to occur, which is in all likelyhood the current turn's end step (barring things like Time Stop). So the creature is only gone from the declare attacker step until the end step, pretty much only missing the remainder of the combat phase and the entire second main phase.

If you spent mana from the Cavern's last ability on your spell, the spell can't be countered, but it is still a legal target for a counterspell. Any additional effects that counterspell may have still occur (like letting its controller draw a card). If the effect is just countering the spell, then yes, they wasted the card.

Yes. Or one +1/+1 counter on each of two different creatures. When Thriving Grubs enters the battlefield, its trigger to give you energy counters goes off twice, due to Panharmonicon. When the first one resolves, you get a trigger from Fabrication Module, which goes on top of the second trigger from the Scubs and resolves before it. Later, that second Grubs trigger resolves, giving you more energy, which triggers the Module again.

  • posted a message on Copying Clones
In general, if you copy a permanent, that is itself a copy of something, the new copy will also be a copy of that something. But if the first copy effect had some addition and/or exception to it (like Sakashima the Impostor or Phyrexian Metamorph), since those are part of the copy effect, they, too, are copied by the new copy.

If the Clone didn't copy anything, and stayed on the battlefield due to increased toughness by some effect or counters, copies made of it will also be Clones, and each one gets to copy a creature when it's created.

  • posted a message on Cloud Key and Panharmonicon interaction
Cloud Key, like so many other things people try to abuse Panharmonicon with, does not have any triggered abilities. It has a static ability creating a replacement effect. A triggered ability always uses one of the words "when", "whenever", or "at". And only the first two can be used for ETB triggers. If these words aren't used, it's not a triggered ability. Panharmonicon does not interact with Cloud Key or any other cards that use a phrase like "As [this] enters the battlefield ...".

The TNN's reminder text already answers that question: "This creature can't be blocked, targeted, dealt damage, or enchanted by anything controlled by that player." A creature with infect deals its damage in the form of -1/-1 counters to other creatures, but it is still damage. So the TNN's protection will prevent the damage and it won't get any -1/-1 counters.

Your only choices are to turn all your other creatures into copies or none. No selective copying.

  • posted a message on Saskia Question
Then you have a Saskia for each opponent, each attacking a different opponent, if you attack with the original and have the equipment attached to her. Still no ETB triggered abiliies to go off twice with Panharmonicon. You get to choose a player for each token copy as it enters the battlefield, so if multiple of them (as well as other creatures) deal combat damage to players, you can potentially deal a large amount of additional damage to a player (if you choose the same player for multiple tokens) through Saskia's last ability. EDIT: Of course, each Saskia will trigger for all the others that deal combat damage to a player, so the Saskia's alone will pack quite a punch.

A repeated offense can also result in a harsher punishment, and can be proof of intent. But if you don't call the judge, how can a judge know that it is a repeated offense?
