Do you all think that since modern is getting faster and faster the deck needs to evolve a bit? Maybe it's time for Voice of Resurgence+Eldritch evolution shells?
Sorry, I meant turn 3. My bad. edited. Also you totally still can win turn 3 with this if you have a 2nd white source, my bad. Cant win on turn 3 w/ a t2 druid into t3 chord like you can with ballista though.
I think I will try replacing my second MB Ballista with Shalai.
The biggest downside I can see with the card is that it doesnt enable a turn 3 win like ballista(though it does result in a mostly unbeatable boardstate) so I think people will run it in addition to ballista if anything.
Is it me or is this card pretty damn good? Sigarda already sees some play in toolbox decks and this is 1 mana cheaper while also providing better hexproof and a mana sink/combo payoff. It's not instant like Ballista but it's a better card overall.
Do you all think Ravenous Chupacabra has any place in the deck or board anywhere? I'm happy to pay 1 more mana for a big game hunter that hits anything.
No way. Double black is too hard to get + 4 mana is not compatible with company.
This deck's played double black before both maindeck and in the board and it wasnt that long ago that the deck played Archangel of Thune. Not to mention linvala is a common enough sideboard card. Just cause a card cant be hit by company doesnt mean it's instantly disqualified.

Don’t get me wrong, tidehollow sculler is great, but why are people choosing this over kitesail Freebooter? The latter is less taxing on mana and has flying... this combined with gavony township can give a real boost if we can’t find our combo.
If I am missing something then I love to be enlightened
I mean it's a fair consideration. Flying is huge, and the easier mana cost is a bonus.
However we aren't restricted by tribe (like the humans deck) and sculler hits more than just instants and sorceress. It can take whatever you need in order to disrupt any opponent. It also works far better in concert with meddling mage (which was my suggestion immediately above that might merit a glance).
Being able to take a threat can be just as valuable as taking a removal spell. Freebooter can miss a lot.
Additionally Freebooter doesn't interact favorably with Viscera Seer like sculler does.
What are all your thoughts on Distended Mindbender? I've always had a soft spot for this card in the board but I rarely see it anymore. Are there any matchups it'd be good for other than obvious midrange stuff like jund?
Anyone else hate the 8rack matchup? Feels like it always comes down to a topdeck war where you either win because you attacked with a Vizier 8 times or you lose because you only drew lands or chords and they attacked with mutavault 8 times.
Side note, how would you all sideboard for this? There's a pretty frequent 8rack player at my lgs. I've been boarding out viziers, scooze, and 1-2 chords and bringing in value stuff like tracker, voice of resurgence, and sin collecter. what are you thoughts?
Watching the coco mirror between DeCandio and Dan Jessup. Craig Krempels pretty clearly has no idea how the deck works and thinks it's 100% a combo deck. He literally called the deck bad if you're not comboing lol. I wonder how long before people realize it's just a good midrange creature deck too.
Ultimately the deck is versatile enough to play through just about any hate. In addition, this deck was good before vizier-druid so even if they ban the combo we'll still be fine.

Aren't they bad vs anger/inferno titan?
