But the prices are not being brought down to make them accessible. wizards is uping rarity on a limited product that will be sold above msrp at many of the hobby shops. which will only be bought by diehard fans like you by the box in the hopes of flipping the contents for a profit on the secondary market. thats were most of these chase rares/mythics will end up. Not in the hands of players trying to play the game. Yeah prices will dip (barely) a few months but then we are in the exact same boat. The amount that the prices drop wont create the draw that the eternal formats need to be sustainable

No one cares how much money youve dumped into this card game except wizards when you buy packs. Honestly they shouldnt care about the secondary market that applies to a vocal minority as high secondary market prices dont benefit magic the gathering as a game. The rarity upshift is just a cash grab by wizards to sell packs.

A business trying to sell its product? OH MY GOD--those monsters! You do realize that it actually costs Wizards money for them to keep producing and promoting this game, do you not? That they have to hire people do design and develop these sets? Pay artists? Print and package the cards? Ship them to distributors? Nah, you're right. How dare they try and make money!

As for that secondary market Wizards "shouldn't care about" (and it's not just a vocal minority, it's players like me that have been playing a long time and have invested a ton of time and money in this game), it's essentially what drives their primary market--i.e. selling packs of new product. They ABSOLUTELY should care about it.

The sarcasim and salt is real. I do realize that they need to make money mr condescending intellectual. I never said they shouldnt. I just said it was a blatent cash grab to boost sales. Do you remember what mythic rares were originally created for. It was to apply to "epic" level spells such as planewalkers and lore based legendarys/items not deck staples.

You are automatically biased against reprints because you have either spent the money on high secondary market prices or bought low and are looking to sell high, perhaps both. But take a step back from your throne of cardboard and look at what this looks like to someone whos just starting magic. Its crazy to even think about breaking into legacy/vintage with the prices the way they are now and whats going to happen to your collection if the format dies?

Also the whole msrp and estimated value argument you keep trying to relate to is stupid. Heres the thing its cardboard with ink on it, it serves no function except to play a game. theres no investment made since youre blindly buying packs unless you skip right to the secondary market where wizards doesnt see that money sans the original pack sale the card came from.

Moneys value is set by the government and is a liquid asset, mtg cards are not dont pull that dumb "Ill trade my 20 for your 100" bullcrap
