I like Overrun better than Garruk in this deck. Garruk's best and most common function in this deck is as a big finisher with his third ability (which you need to wait a turn to use, leaving him vulnerable to the blasted faeries, among many other threats). Overrun allows you to push through on that crutial 4th or 5th turn when you're right on the brink of killing you're opponent, or falling just short and allowing them to stabilize.
I know most people don't agree with the main deck pyroclasm/sulfurous blast, but my local metagame has been rampant with aggro since PC. I've been doing rather well in playtesting, though I'm usually quite low on life by the time I pull off a big bad Demonfire.
I've been considering switching Trisk for the obvious choice Bogardan Hellkite. Also, I LOVE getting a 9/9 Draining Whelk in response to their Akroma(11/11 for Dragonstorm:o), so don't even suggest I lose him (i consider him my 'tertiary win condition')
Yea, I was considering taking it down to 19 land, instead of skimping on the bird/llanowar accel. It's just a personal favorite tactic of mine b/c it allows for more consistent turn 3/4 wins.
Also, one of the problems i've come across with the deck, is card advantage. You burn through a lot of cards doing a double Might of Old Krosa and Fatal Frenzy on something. In earlier versions of the deck (pre-PC) i've run Browbeat with moderate success (even if I don't get the draws, 5 damage on turn 2 from a spell isn't bad). Now i'm thinking of Harmonize; however I've got a friend from FNM running Greater Good in a similar mono green deck. He gets 6-10 draws from his Groundbreakers, which usually just gets you another w/ more glorious pumps!
As far as creatures go, I'm thinking of losing the Kird Apes and bringing back the Silhanna Ledgewalker. I also agree that I need another Groundbreaker, and need to loose the volcanic hammers
The basic theme of this deck is simple - pump up a creature and smash your opponent's face. I took this deck to FNM last friday and lost literally EVERY SINGLE MATCH. I've been playing variations of this since TS came out, and I've been doing rather well. But, either the gods weren't with me last friday, or I screwed up my deck w/ PC cards. Anyway, just take a look at the decklist
