Yeah, the set hasn't even been released yet. Hence my inclusion of the phrase "after the initial burst of them hits the market". Anyone reading this subforum should recognize that prices for preorder and immediately following the prerelease are more or less irrelevant long term. Virtually every card in the set is going to fall over the next few weeks, inventions included. There are only a tiny handful on the market right now so they're at a premium. That's why the advice you get from people who have spent any amount of time looking at the MtG market is almost invariably not to preorder cards or buy immediately after the release, unless you need them for an event or are very confident your card evaluation skills are better than the internet hivemind.
Most of the inventions are going to be good long term holds. Most of them are going to fall from their current prices after the set drops. Those two statements aren't mutually exclusive.
I do understand supply and demand. Unfortunately I missed my window to sell it right after the prerelease. I'll plan on holding it long term now.
Actually I like all of the reprint masterpieces as long term holds.
I agree. WotC has already stated that they're not going to repeat masterpieces and there's going to be some persistent demand for these, particularly the ones that are playable in eternal/non-rotating formats. Something like Vial is a lot more likely to go up than down after the initial burst of them hits the market.
Maybe the new rare lands? First one has a UR feel, and last one BG.
Everything in Kaladesh has a UR feel.
The third one has too many prominent humans to be a land (I think).
It's unlikely these are basic lands, so I didn't upload them in the Basic Land thread.
Yep I have seen not one rare land art with any humans in it.
Cryptolith fragment is only interesting for me in limited and EDH. Limited is where it will probably shine most for me, since EDH has to see people lose 30 life each, so 60 life with 2 players, 90 with 3, 120 for 4. It's crazy!
I'm sad Gisela is so cute and yet so ugly. Poor Gisela
Why is it a bad choice? You are able to see any creature that's on the battlefield and that means the backs of DFC's as well. Otherwise it wouldn't be fair to not know what a creature could flip into.
Why not? It's fair to not know what a morphed/manifested card will flip into.
The only thing that'll ever bother me about the DFC design is that they blatantly show the P/T of the back face on the front face, that takes the surprise value for like 80%.
What surprise? Your opponent can just ask to see the backside when you play it anyways.
Which was also a bad choice. I mean, I get it, informed players are already going to know the ass just from the front but still...

My main complaint is that the new Ulrich was revealed on the same day as the new Emrakul. Why spoil two of the main cards of the set on the same day a week before actual spoilers begin? You would think Ulrich could have at least been revealed in a UR article or something else on the mothership.
Could just be a jerk and make combo oloro to auto win.
Or go sen triplets and go control PLUS stealing their cards
Or take black out and go grand arbiter.
Seriously I'm not understanding your group. Rafiq should careless about life or "board wipes". It's only gripe should be rafiq himself being targeted, which is a completely rational response.
Could just go colorless and build a turn 2-3 Kozelik deck. No control and no cares given.
Or prosh... Or hard goblin combo out.
I say build something that hits so hard they beg for oloro to come back and just sit on his stupid throne
I have an old Xenagos, God of Revels deck that I could make into a Ruric Thar, the Unbowed deck. Prosh would also be fun to just wreck face with. I'll let you guys know how it goes after we play again this week. I also just finished building a Gitrog deck, so I'll test that out as well. I really appreciate all of your suggestions.
If this new Zur player is actually doing that, especially after the constant Oloro hate... Logically what you ought to be doing is finding another playgroup temporarily, play with them and see if its better, while giving the other playgroup some time to sort out their competitive priorities. If they are seriously that opposed to Esper Goodstuff while playing commanders of a (pretty much) similar caliber while they have the potential (perhaps already reached!) to optimize, that's their problem, not yours.
But I would just say keep at Oloro. He's not all that bad, even if he does have a rep.

The solution should never be find another playgroup. Lots of people do not have that luxury and are forced to play with whomever.
Absolutely. They're the only group that I can play with. Unfortunately my old group split up after people moved away. They played on a much higher/unfair level with decks like Kaalia of the Vast and Narset, Enlightened Master. We were fairly even and could keep each other in check.
Was there a buyout on foil Toxic Deluges or something? I literally was just checking the price on them yesterday (one of the last 5 cards I need foil for my EDH deck, and the only card I need from EMA) and there were plenty enough on TCG Player, but I'm waiting on it dropping to about $30. Go to check today and there's none on there. WTF?
I just checked on ebay completed listings since I can see when the listings ended (typically if a buyout occurs, then you'll see a whole bunch of buy it nows bought up within a small period of time. In this case though, the ones on ebay were bought up over the course of about 36 hours at normal intervals. This doesn't suggest a buyout, but rather more like the price got cheap enough that people decided to go ahead and go in and grab them at the listed prices. Unfortunately when you have a card that is the first time in foil and its popular enough that people will want it, you are going to eventually have a large enough amount of people willing to pull the trigger on buying them now that we are 5 days after release that spikes on foils of a limited release set like this can do that. I do notice that there are several auctions up on ebay right now running, so you could always keep an eye on those ones, though $30 seems rather unlikely to happen at this point as it looks like $50+ seems to be the new range for the time being. Sorry that you missed out at a potentially lower price. Perhaps with some additional time the supply will slowly rise back up again and we'll see the price start to lower again, in the meantime though, looks like the range is going to be running higher for a bit.
So every major site is sold out of foil Toxic Deluge except for one at $150 on TCGPlayer. Ebay has a few auctions in progress that are around $50 right now however.
I don't get it either. The legend partners are boring compared to a creature with a really interesting effect like this.
Same here. Nothing has popped up yet for today. I just keep refreshing and nothing.
I do understand supply and demand. Unfortunately I missed my window to sell it right after the prerelease. I'll plan on holding it long term now.
Unfortunately it's already dropped by $30....
As already said above, Temple of Abandon and Temple of Enlightenment have humans on them
Where do you play that EDH is 30 life?
Clearly. But that is a whole separate issue.

There are only three meld cards. I highly doubt that the meld cards will be together in boosters.
