I'm surprised more Golgari counter decks don't run Maga as a finisher.
Lastly, Eternal Dominion, especially Forked or Twincasted on the original casting means multiple Epic triggers. -

Oct 31, 2017Boyachi posted a message on The 13 Scariest Pieces of Magic ArtI agree with your selections. Living Wall is has not been trumped in...whatever creepiness it is doing. The Fallen is up there with the old-school scariness, but I have a special place for Chains of Mephistopheles, what with the third horn and the sinister eyes that seem to be looking directly at you.Posted in: Articles
There has only been one card that jump-scared me when I opened a pack of cards: Rotting Fensnake. I made it my laptop background for class so if I jump straight to the desktop I can hear the reactions of the people that were looking at my screen. -
Aug 15, 2017Boyachi posted a message on Commander 2017 DigestMairsil, the Pretender doesn't need to worry about using the abilities only once with proper setup. First off you already mentioned Aetherling (or better yet Deadeye Navigator) which can reset Mairsil for non-tap abilities. After that you need something as simple as Crimson Mage to grant haste to reuse those tap abilities. Finish it off with a Gilded Lotus and you have infinite Mairsil abilities each turn (and mana, but I mean, nothing new with Gilded Lotus) .Posted in: Articles
Also Shifty Doppelganger is actually looking like it could be star (support) material! Maybe!
I'm glad to see a shout-out going to Bounty Hunter and the Myojins! You did your research and it shows! -

I am LAUGHING MY *** OFF over them having to change this name though.
If this creature is banding than the banded group is unblockable.
OR
If you make instrumental noises while declaring this creature as an attacker, it is unblockable.
Can we talk about the fact that you can Murder or Go For the Throat on a Wall of Stone? Weird.
I would have said 0/1 plant tokens, but those can attack so they would be disposed of far too easily.
I briefly considered small indestructible creatures for the doughnut, but even Wily Bandar is considered a nuisance in my powered horde as it either uses up an important blocker or sneaks in a damage.
On the flip side, finding artifacts with fair global effects to make the doughnut is also hard, but you could try Thran Weaponry, Abandoned Sarcophagus, Catalyst Stone, and maybe Cumber Stone, to name a few possibilities.
I started with using what tokens I had and went from there in as far as colors.
There are a lot of good tokens, from 1/1 snakes with deathtouch, elementals with P/T equal to the number of creatures you (the horde) controls, and the newest token from Theros: Beyond Death - Nightmare with 2/3 P/T and "Whenever this creature attacks or blocks, each opponent exiles the top two cards of their library.
I run a 5 color Marit Lage Horde (obviously runs the 20/20 flying indestructible token). This allows me to address most game state locking issues. Dollar-bin Rares and chaff are super powerful in Horde decks. Here is a sample of my top shakers:
I also recommend the "all creatures in the horde have haste" rule. This allows your horde to be higher powered and still give players a chance to go respond as well as use their slower but higher power decks.
Now, if you want to make a Nicol Bolas Horde, I would start by auto including Nicol Bolas and Kederekt Leviathan. Then tie yourself to only Grixis colors/ tokens. There are of course 2/2 Zombies (think Amonkhet) and the Zombie army tokens from War of the Spark for which you can set a particular value (I do total cards in hand for */* Zombie/Horror tokens). 2/2 Flying drakes, because those are lesser dragons and Nicol Bolas loves dominating over "lesser beings" though don't run too many fliers...I found that out the hard way. 2/2 blue illusions since Nicol Bolas is deceitful. There is the black 2/2 zombie knight with menace from Dominaria, of which Bolas was very much pulling strings there with Josue Vess and Belzenlok. That 2/3 nightmare blue/black token from Theros Beyond is technically from Aishok but on color and goes with the whole Bolas mind-games notion. Red 3/1 trample haste Spark Elemental tokens which die at the end of turn. Any of the embalm/eternalize tokens, even if off color are due to Nicol Bolas's time ruling Amonkhet. I love running the red 7/1 trample haste elementals since they are glass cannons. A blue sphinx token would be a reminder of Amonkhet. Red humans could be brainwashed by Bolas. Lastly red flying 4/4 and 5/5 dragons, since after all, Nicol Bolas is a dragon.
Hopefully this sparks your creativity.
I’d say it is the cycle for Cabal Coffers, but that is even older than Krosan Verge (which back from the days of Judgement while Coffers is from Odyssey) and they barely want to reprint Coffers from the looks of it seeing as it got Magus-ed and we got Cabal Stronghold.
Is that to say if a player has no homelands they are in a “safety bubble”?
Or is it that my lands have to connect to an opponent’s lands to interact with said opponent?
I know there is the possibility of it being due to translation, but figured it should be pointed out.
Also merge looks like inverse bestow.
Put an aura on the creature and the create dies, both go to the graveyard.
Equip a creature with equipment and the creature dies, the equipment falls on the battlefield.
Perhaps mutating a creature will stay with that creature even if it is bounced and recast; killed and reanimated? There have been a few legends with similar abilities, like that one zombie, the experience counter commanders, or Mairsil, the Pretender, but never multiple creatures doing such things marketed in the same deck.
I was thinking of bower passage and elfhame sanctuary...I’ll meet in the middle and say definitely not common or mythic.
It might even be far for just G instead of 1G.
It would most likely fall into an uncommon slot.
The reason I am considering it is because typically an unsummon is worse than a murder whe NBC the opponent targets our creature. This means them bouncing our creature lets us put it back in our graveyard.
Is it worth it or too slow?
There was an article a few years back about how they were going to treat certain creature types to certain rarities for each color. Angels were the big white rare; dragon for the red rare; Krakens/leviathans/octopi and such were blue rare; green or elemental or dinosaur or Whatever passes for a green rarest these days; and black was of course demons.
But What if they made an angel moth type Mothra kaiju creature? Man auto speech does not work when talking about this stuff.
Second, let us not forget Magic Origins and Theros Beyond Death were one shots that didn’t continue in their following set, thus making them one-shots. And so too Eldraine.
Third, latest Ravnica block had Feather, the new favorite ANGEL Boros commander and War of the Spark had at the very least Parhelion II.
There have been Angels printed in recent sets.
Yes, I get that people are afraid this will be a “Pokémon” set to see people with big creature love, but we all know the majority of it dies to Terror so who cares? It will be the instants and sorceries that make or break drafting this set and it’s impact on standard.
