    Hi guys,

After some thinking, I won't go with an eldrazi token route (as mentioned in my previous post) for the moment. Unless someone has tried this with some success (if so, please share your decklist)?

Here is the current decklist I am working with, strongly inspired by Prid3's deck. I think this version can hold its own, but does it seem strong enough for a multiplayer game (casual but still good players)? My main hesitation is with Kalastria Healer as there are not that many allies in the deck. However I see him appearing in several decks out there which revolve around Zulaport Cutthroat. Am I missing something here?

I want to avoid expensive cards if possible. Thanks for your input!

So, in other words, a Golgari build that is essentially "Zulaport Cutthroat vs. Awakening Zone / From Beyond", without the need to even cast a fatty. Yeah, I think I could get behind trying a variant of that build out... Smile

I am aiming to build such a deck for multiplayer games (king variant where I always have 4 opponents), based on sacking the eldrazi tokens for some good damage.... I will work on a shell which includes the above cards as well as Dark Prophecy and advise later, but in the meantime, does anyone have such a deck already built? Looking for ideas/suggestions.

    Thanks!

Other players will come up with it and you'll start a new thread to gripe about why they even bothered building this 'narrow, impossible' deck around this 'narrow, impossible' card R&D came up with. Or you'll just lose to it and gripe about how 'cheap' it was.

LMAO this is not my style... I just like to discuss, that's all.. Smile

LOL I just noticed that WOTC published an article about the card.

Comments so far have indicated many possibilities to achieve the combo. However, how do you think that a deck built around Hedron Alignment will be able to hold its ground against aggressive builds? Or in a multiplayer game (forget EDH)?

The easiest most obvious answer is it wouldn't. If your goal is to build a deck for this to be its centerpiece, it will fail 9 times out of 10. Like my above post suggested, this is more of an "accidental win" than anything. It's ability isn't completely useless, so you can justify running a singleton, maybe a pair on some competetive builds, but if you are trying to fill space in a deck that this is already in, it really makes you question if there are other options that are better than a card that can win you game. Think of it like the legend rule. Everybody would pack 4 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben if it wasn't for the fact that it can be a dead card a lot of times. This circumvents that by allowing this to be used as "gas" for other strategies. Again, this isn't some game breaking, tournament winning card, but it definetly makes you think long and hard about card choices in the deck that this also resides in, and makes for some interesting lines of play.

I wonder what reasoning WOTC had when they created this card.... why make such a card at all if only a minority of players will actually try using a deck with 4 copies (and even less players achieving its ultimate goal)?

On another point, let's say you manage to make a deck that actually wins more or less consistently Hedron Alignment. I don't see the fun in playing it over and over again. In addition, your playgroup will probably not want to play against it after awhile... that's my feeling for the moment.

For you. Others will find it exciting. You're not the center of the universe. Just because YOU find a card boring, doesn't mean everyone does/it's a bad card.

I agree and I'm not trying to imply that my view is the only one that applies. You don't have to lecture me on this point, how did I give you the impression that I was the center of the universe?

Because some people enjoy this type of cards. That's literally the answer.

Of course, but the card doesn't do much and the extra copies will clog up your hand until you manage to exile / discard and draw the fourth copy for the win. As such, I think building a deck geared towards breaking Hedron Alignment sounds rather dull and unexciting.

    Hedron Alignment

I wonder why they created such a narrow card with a nearly impossible win condition. As a rare to boot! I like the originality behind it but there are way too many loops to jump through before you can manage to have all cards in the necessary places.

How does this work, if I tap Fallowsage via Witches' Eye, do I draw then scry, or can I scry first then draw?

    Thanks

I played the deck twice last night and it delivered big time. The 1st game (5 players), I got hosed for a while by an early combo consisting of Bringer of the Red Dawn + sac outlet, which more or less got me stuck not doing much. I managed to come back and win the game in a convincing manner.

The 2nd game (4 players) was faster and way more brutal.... I came in strong and furious, ending with a master of waves which I copied twice via Cackling Counterpart for a massive wave (no pun intended!) of elementals boosted +3/+3.... Smile

I have to admit, even if the deck may not be foolproof, it is a great pleasure to play. Thanks again Prid3 for your helpful ideas!

I like the Kiras a lot. Solid addition. Cutting the CC and Aetherize for the Bidents seems solid too.

I was reading old MTG articles and came upon a decklist which included Kira. I think it could do wonders, especially with Teferi already in play to protect my creatures from a nasty spell.

I believe I now have a valid deck. Time will tell how good it really is, but I have a great feeling so far. I might eventually swap the Wasps for Nightveil Specter if needed. For the moment, I prefer not using him because in my playgroup, this sort of card attracts attention and removal, which I try to avoid if possible.
