I've played the list, it was not reasonable to use 24 lands in my small sample size playing the deck. Mulligans and missed land drop rate was too high. I thought Sylvaner advocate was very good though and I would like to replace soulfire and add three hissing quagmires, subtract two nomad outpost.

I would have to test the deck, but it certainly has a plan, especially the sarkhans and sorin in the board for other planeswalkers or Grundy matchups.

Again there is value to playing tec edge (and friends) but I feel like there are cards that better serve either our weak matchups or are more diverse.

Nota has said it very well in his above post and especially in the above quote

    Land Hate...

It seems that some the more competent merfolk pilots out there, John Taylor and hunter nance are running no land hate in the sideboard. I've begun to experiment with their lists as the results they've put up consistently over the past few months clearly illustrates they've figured something out. My initial feelings are the deck is great, unified will is great in the board against twin and any deck less aggressive than ours, spreading seas is still in the main for land hate, and the sideboard generally has all the specific answers you'd want such as relic, hurkylls recall, tidebinder, Dispel, negate, and spellskite. I also find their are games when I'm boarding in both skites and keeping both Kira's in, cutting master of waves and usually spreading seas or reejery, lowering the curve of the deck and giving it more resilience. I'd be interested if anyone else has been playing these lists and what their results have been, I'd also like to see nikachu try it. I feel like hunter and John have kind of nailed the answers we are usually looking for and the cards are always their to take out when we have answers we want to bring in

I note the meta you are playing in will dictate your sideboard and main deck, with that said My meta is the magic online league meta

I think you need to have proper perspective when looking at the results.
First of all, merfolk has game against all the decks that top 8'ed the event. In two games against affinity last night, I 2-0 both times. Hurkyll's recall is a nightmare for affinity, it essentially time walks them for two turns. Second, you need to keep in mind how many competent merfolk pilots were at an event in Pittsburgh. Third,
All the top pros chose to go with decks like bloom, twin, and affinity as they view those decks as sexy and powerful. I've been playing hunter Nances Greensboro list and it has been very impressive. Personally I feel merfolk is well positioned and very strong right now(Except against rending volley, lol). Don't worry about no merfolk in the top 32.

Hey all, chalice of the void seems excellent right now. So many decks are relying on serum visions,
Bolt, and thoughtseize/inquisition for efficient disruption. Not to mention the 1 mana counter spells in spell snare, dispel, and pierce. Have you seen this recent 1st place list, what are your thoughts? http://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-merfolk-22888#online.

Given three Chalice of the Void, I would prefer Dismember over Vapor Snag in the main just to exclude dead draws

I would prefer Dismember as well in that build and have a different sideboard. My main point is showcasing how effective chalice is in current meta.

Also I've cut 1 master of waves from my list that was running 4 and added a 4th metros reejery in its place.
Despite being a card you want to draw I was tired of getting stuck with multiples in my opening hand and in general, I wanted to lower the curve of the deck. Thoughts on the above considerations would be appreciated.

Can the more experienced players help me with explanations of when to sideboard out the following cards against certain types of decks, play/draw. It would be greatly appreciated.

    Aether vial,
cursecatcher, Merrow reejery, master of the waves, and wondering if anyone sides out any 2 drops against spell snare decks? Like master of the pearl trident.

Also, do you guys like unified will?

I'm running the latest hunter nance version from his Greensboro 1st place. with 3 reejerys and 2 Kira main, but don't have the 2 spellskites in the board, instead I'm running 2 chalice. Thanks so much community.

I've been reading this forum for a few months now and have finally decided to chime in as I have begun to play the deck more and really enjoy it.

    Some questions and considerations

    1. Is a singleton Vendillion Clique for 1BB too slow, or are you just looking at it as a nice compliment to thoughtseize? I do like the cantrip and body it could give you.

    2. Is it enough too just run one blood moon or if you are going to run them should you run 2?

    3. What about surgical extraction for combo decks like R/G Tron and Amulet

    4. Rise/Fall in my experience playing with it(which is limited) has been very good, if you are going for the hand disruption game against amulet?tron decks it feels like it could be more mana efficient and more of what you want then a vendilion clique... That said the cantrip and 3/1 flying body is sooo nice!

    5. It seems like the right amount of thoughtseize, rise/fall, vendilion clique, Surgical extraction effects coming out of the board is 4 or 5...
