I am planning on making a 3D version of Derevi, Empyrial Tactician, replacing the art of Derevi with the art from Zapdos of the first set in the Pokemon card game (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/81KbDi0SnSL._SL1500_.jpg). I love pokemon, and love derevi as a card, but really don't like his art. I was thinking I'd need 2 copies of Zapdos and one of Derevi. All I'm thinking I need to do is cut out the square where Derevi is and put it on top of a Zapdos. Both cards are exactly the same size so as long as I find a solid glue, it should be ok.
Does anyone know any good tips and tutorials for 3D altering magic cards? I imagine there will be trouble making sure the cards stick to each other but other than that it seems pretty straight forward.
For anyone with 3D alters, how do you sleeve these things?
With 12 gold lands it is a lot easier to cast enabler/draw spells.
Game 2-3 it also helps to cast answer to hate.
Why no dread returns maindeck or LEDs? Are you not aiming to combo out in game 1?
Just as a more general question, how come most dredge players are back on the LED train? Back when I was playing a lot more 5 years ago the concensus was that LED dredge was cool but all LED did was speed up a deck that was already quicker than most. When did people start playing LED again?
For example, in the Art of Dredge Fu article, the author says this:
Lion's Eye Diamond is worse. It speeds up a deck that hardly ever loses due to slowness and in return makes it more draw-dependent and vulnerable to basically every kind of disruption that is not Mental Misstep. Put another way it fixes what ain't broke and then introduces real problems.
This is the same thing that was generally agreed upon back when I was playing. When did people start coming back around to LED and what are the advantages?
LED dredge was a thing, but for some reason back then everyone decided it was suboptimal compared to Bloodghast/Ichorid dredge. Ideally I'd want to play LED dredge. I have valuble stuff I'd be willing to trade for LEDs but I have never ran in to anyone who has them or wants to trade the ones they have.
I'd buy in to them but hardly anyone plays legacy in my area and I don't travel for big tournaments so it would be $250 spent on cards that I rarely use.
Are there any recent articles I can read with newer dredge lists+strategy? I don't think I'll win this tourney but Legacy used to be my favorite format and I'd love to get back in to it.
I am one of those people who haven't built their deck correctly! I haven't played magic since Rise of Eldrazi, and only got back in to the game 2 months ago. I still have my old legacy dredge deck but I think it's pretty out of date and far from optimal dredge. At the time I was playing, it was the cool thing to run bloodghast instead of ichorid, the theory being it was more resilient or something, or it was easier to activate the landfall triggers to bring it back. I don't remember why.
Anyways, there's a big legacy tournament at the LGS this weekend where the top 10 all get a revised dual land of their choice (first place chooses first, then second, then third etc etc
Anyways, here's my deck. I don't really know the legacy meta right now. Any tips or advice on what to add or take out will help! I have an Iona and Ray of Revelation in my sideboard but that's it. I have no idea where the rest of my sideboard went I have 3 ichorids and can replace the bloodghasts with them if you think it will be better.
Is dredge dead? It seems impossible to go against Rest in Peace/Force Field backed up by counter support but maybe there are ways.
I played Abzan, Dark Jeskai and Mardu Allies. I went 2-1, beating Abzan and Allies 2-0. I lost 2-0 against Dark Jeskai but I feel like I have a decent matchup if I draw better. Game 1 I mulled to 5 due to no lands, Game 2 I had the board state under control for 4 turns in a row, but had now way to finish and could only ping away for 3 a turn with Knight of the White Orchid and a monk token.
Stupidly before the tournament tonight, I decided to take out my 4 Archangel of Tithes for 4 Defiant Strikes. I don't know what I was doing that made me think this was a good idea. All night long I was having trouble finding a finisher. Archangel would have been a perfect finisher. Defiant Strike was good for the cheap prowess triggers+cantrip, but I can't help but feel like it would have just been better to not have those prowess triggers, and a semi-fatty angel instead.
I will test more with archangel. Having both Dromoka's and Ojutai's Commands feels really good. Also I was right about the consistent mana being the deck's biggest strengths. I was never lost for mana in the games I played, admittedly only 6. Clash of Wills was really good for me out of the board, and I think it's just a really great card right now in general. No one sees it coming and I usually only have to cast it for 1 to get a counter of something big like Wingmate Roc or Siege Rhino or Ojutai's Command.
I might try to maindeck some.
I was an idiot for taking out archangel right before the tournament. Defiant Strike is fun, but I really would have liked the 3/5 flyer instead.
As it would add more free threats, and even though I only run 21 lands, I had a few games that went long where a 3/3 hexproof would have been really good.
Counterspells and Archangel of Tithes are pretty powerful right now,as is Knight of the White Orchid's land search ability.
I think the main advantage this deck has right now is that the mana is so consistent, and it plays two of the strongest commands, Ojutai's and Dromoka's.
Monastery Mentor usually eats instant removal, but when he lives he's pretty good, and if he dies instantly, it means less removal for Archangel.
Overcosted Elvish Visionary is all Messenger ever is for me.
I don't think you get how magic works. A creature that draws cards is really really good. The fact that Sylvan Messenger has potential to get you more than 1 card is what makes it so great. Sylvan Messenger is the only reason Elves are viable in standard. Run 3-4 maindeck or prepare to suck.

This guy seems like a big whiner. Why is he so salty and butthurt about a judge telling him to hurry up? Why does he take it so personally? Same dude was also whining last week about how mean it is when people say 'Good Game' to him after they beat him.
Having all five basic land types (in addition to that land's other types) has nothing to do with entering the battlefield tapped or not, or with the land's other abilities like its ETB trigger.
So, Prismatic Omen changes nothing whatsoever about Simic Growth Chamber's first two abilities. It will be a Land - Plains Island Swamp Mountain Forest that still enters the battlefield tapped, and still makes you return a land to your hand.
If there is only Prismatic Omen out and no blood moon, will Simic Growth Chamber still be able to tap for UG too?

Is non-LED dredge still putting up competitive results or has it gone the way of the dodo?

LOL Rhino isn't broken or close to degenerate. Were you playing magic when Bloodbraid Elf was in standard?
Why is that bad? Abzan and Jeskai are awesome.

Is there a way I can watch matches from the recent Legacy GP in Seattle? I want to see what the metagame is like now.
Is dredge dead or does it still have a place in the top tier of legacy?
