There’s already so much money to be made selling MTG product that it seems silly to jeopardize that with shady practices. To lose your cash cow by trying to milk a few extra bucks, how inane.

Does WOTC completely pull their product when stores get caught doing this? I would hope so. I wonder if they could get sued for defrauding costumers...

I would imagine it'd be difficult to "pull product" considering how many distributors there are out there. However, I imagine losing your WPN status definitely makes it hard to get the good/current goodies and access to the matchmaking software that enticed players into the store in the first place.

It's not impossible. I understand that Rudy from Alpha Investments is NOT a WPN member and he still manages to make a ****-ton of money from box sales.

As for defrauding customers, can WOTC even get involved in that way? What about those $1 re-packs that appear at Dollar Tree. No one in their right mind can pretend you'll get anything more than a 20 cent jank bulk uncommon out of them. Or those silly "bundle" boxes at Wal-Mart. Both of these operate on the premise the consumer "might" get something decent at odds astronomically worse than Wizards own products.

Well, for starters, its one thing to admit that it's a repack, another to treat it as a completely sealed product. (And for what its worth, one of those bundle boxes I got at Target had a full Teferi commander deck).

This just seems like stupid greed in the highest. How much effort do you have to go through to open packs, pull out cards, and then reseal them well enough to where its atleast passable to the untrained eye? Core 19 has no cards above $20, and only 4 above $10. So all that work (not to mention the risk of losing a lot more if you're caught) on the offhand chance you might get to cheat a Vivien out?

    Doesn't seem worth it.

Theres plenty of characters in Magics history who became famous through flavor text

Ramos, Dragon Engine, to an extent.

That guy became famous in our playgroup because of all his cards Heart of Ramos, Eye of Ramos, Skull of Ramos.... for many years, we thought he was dismembered from crashing. Only found out he was whole after asking at the lore section of the forum. XD

    https://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/magic-fundamentals/magic-storyline/807816-ramos-dragon-engine-question

Yeah, his reconstruction/resurrection was one of the big plot points of the Mercadian Masques novel. That said, he was never really a character in the novel, per se. More like a living (so to speak) plot device. That's why I included him, since the flavor text fleshed (so to speak) him out a bit, and now he's got his own card.

But... Who wants to cast it for 8 mana?

8 mana for THIRTEEN POWER on the board off the first swing?

This is the kind of finisher Depala EDH decks have been waiting for.

So I guess this goes arbitrarily large with Karn's Temporal Sundering although I'm not sure that matters. lol

Would this work? Does it only matter if the card gets exiled, or does Feather's effect have to be the one doing the exiling?

I'm not 100%. I know there is some weird rule regarding it not mattering what source put a card in exile as long as it still ends up there, but I'm not sure if that is applicable in this case.

It doesn't work. Karn's Temporal Sundering exiles itself prior to resolution. Feather the redeemed has the stipulation that it must be exiled to its replacment ability in order for it to work.

I kinda figured, but its good for confirmation. Thanks.

this a good aura, it could possibly see play in EDH as well, making things 1/1 frogs is good.

My Animar playing gut dropped a bit. Already have to deal with too many damned Song of the Dryad and Imprisoned in the Moon

Just to make sure I'm right on the rules here- this trigger happens on cast, right? I get that if it gets countered, it goes to the graveyard, because it never resolved. But once that cast trigger goes on the stack, as long as the spell resolves, you're getting it back, no matter what happens to Feather, right?

That is how the trigger reads to me.
That's not how it works. If the spell never resolves, you never exile it. Since the "return to hand" bit has "if you do" at the beginning, you can't return it to your hand if you don't exile it to her ability.

That... wasn't the question I was asking at all.

We already know the spell won't exile if it doesn't resolve. What we're wondering is if there's any point it can be stopped after the cast by simply killing Feather

I can't wait to Aurelia's Fury every turn.

    It's the little things

Feather: (as she hands you your spell back for the eighth time) This is getting old, you know.

You: Oh, suck it up, buttercup. You have 4 toughness.

Feather: THAT DOESNT STOP IT FROM HURTING.

What I love is that Feather is immune to Solar Blaze.
Unless you did the 9-1 Fight with Fire trick first :p

    That's... that's really good.

Also, it just has to target one creature of yours. So conceivably, kick Fight with Fire, target them (or their stuff) for 9, target Feather for 1, and then pop it back into hand.

Since its the creatures doing damage, you can stand to gain a bit if you have a bunch of lifelinkers on the field.
