I just like the colours of Smokebraider for some reason . . . nod to Petals of Insight because for some reason I'd never seen the card before Modern Masters, and I've been playing since the first visit to Mirrodin O.o

Switcheroo is the most adorable blue card I've seen in a while . . . . nods to Kraken Hatchling and Void Stalker.

I believe it's being worked on, but will be a while in coming.
There's a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff that needs to happen first, and making sure it meshes well with the current system.

"Chic chic!" Torchic cried out and waddled after Nicolette hurriedly.

Nicolette heard a scrabbling sound, like small claws on the stone. Looking behind her, she saw a little Torchic running with purpose. Pausing to allow the little one time to catch up, she crouched and looked at it. "Okay, but you listen to what I tell you, alright?"

The group continued on their chosen path.

Up at the entrance of the Pyramid, while the storm is still raging through the open doorway, Geoff sends his Torchic down stairs after the rest of the group.

Meanwhile, one level down, the group is faced with a conundrum. With the surrounding area lit up by your pokemon you can see the your tracking pokemon may have found a scent. However, there is a problem.
The Rogue Jenny's trail seems to going in two directions. She and her Arcanine must have split up trying to elude you. They must be intending to meet up again later, deeper in the pyramid. The scent trails head in opposite directions one to the left and one to the right.

While, the group decides what to do, Beryl contacts Marilyn and Prof. Haman to make sure they (and their students) were okay and to ask about the Professor's shards. The Professor tells her that they're fine but that the Rockets confiscated the shards and that they think Jenny might have them.

Derick, fiddling with his PokeTool, finds that it indicates that there is a strong signature deep within the pyramid but what it is exactly it can't identify exactly.

Finally, Nicolette just shakes her head at the group while she and Emberlace head down the path straight ahead, Emberlace's flames lighting the way. A little ways down she and the Ponyta, find a chamber, littered with pottery and other archeological discoveries.

Unconcerned with the pottery this time, Nicolette and Emberlace pause to get their bearings. After a moment, she looks at her Ponyta. Emberlace's head twitches toward the right, as she restlessly scratched at the ground. "Okay, let's go."

Nicolette and Emberlace head down the RIGHT pathway.

Geoff volunteers to stay up top while the rest of you head down into the temple. The bottom of the stairs of the second level of the temple is littered with broken bits of pottery and statues. It's also very dark and you guys can barely see anything at all, including the trail of the Rogue Jenny.

    What do you do next?

Nicolette just shakes her head as she and Emberlace just start walking down the path straight ahead. Emberlace's flames were proving to be helpful as they provided more light to the area.

OOC: Also, it appears my trainer card was not updated from a while ago. It still shows Feebas in my team, when I remember swapping it for Gyarados before the mountain temple incident. My team roster was changed, but my card never was.

Hard decision, but I think I have to go with Serra Avenger, only because I don't think the promotional Serra Avatar counts.

Katamyri for sure. One of my most beloved Myr cards ever printed, and a complete blast when it smoked people in Standard.

Between your six Pokémon, you make short work of the sandy barrier. Within you find an Egyptian style temple much like was found earlier on Route 12. Like that temple, this one is covered in ancient hieroglyphics and the same recurring Ouroboros motif with the three serpents (one Red, one Blue, and one Green each eating the tail of the next <:symr:<:symu:<:symg:.)

There are dust footprints going down stairs at the back wall...

    What do you do?

Nicolette, Emberlace and Roselia burst through the collapsing sand barrier. Remarkably not covered in grit, the trainer dismounts and brushes off her shoulders. Returning Roselia to its pokeball, she took a look around. Oh you have got to be kidding, she thought to herself as she recognized the "deputies" to were trying to ransack the last ruins they were all in.

As everyone was rushing around to pursue Jenny, Nicolette drifted behind the group as they proceeded down the corridor. She wasn't quite sure whether to stay behind and protect the entrance, or follow the group to make sure nothing bad happened.

Unlike the others, you don't head down into the tunnel with the rest of students, teachers and trainers. Instead, you climb to the top of the sand tomb and release your mighty Onix. You have it send a massive wall of sand to entomb Jenny. Unfortunately, it took your command a little differently then you intended. He sealed her inside the Temple...

    What do you do?

Nicolette grumbled what sounded like a string of not-very-nice words (but was just gibberish, she's a lady after all), and recalled Onix back into its pokeball. "Alright, let's try this," she said, releasing Roselia and Emberlace. "Roselia, get up on my back. We're going for a ride." Nicolette climbed aboard Emberlace, and the team charged the entrance of the temple. Noticing some other trainers around the entrance, she shouted "Get out of the way!! Roselia, clear a path into the temple with your magical leaf!"
Glowing leaves and petals sprang forth from Roselia and sliced their way to the pile of sand left by Onix. Nicolette hoped this worked, or she might not be able to save her friends from the Rockets.

Executive Jenny releases her massive Arcanine, ready to take on Josh's team confident that her Grunts could handle the assault of the other three trainers.

Meanwhile, Beryl, Nicolette, Geoff, and the remain students and professors are being held by the Rocket Grunts.

Suddenly, walls of sand rose up around the students, the captured trainers and Executive Jenny (and her Arcanine.)

The Grunts, flanked by tombs of sand on either side of them, are sent into confusion, partly because of the unexpected turn of events and partly because of psychic assault of Derick's Noctowl. Despite their confusion however, several of the Grunts have enough of their wits about them to release their pokemon, having them take a defensive stance between the Grunts and the trainer's attacking pokemon...

Jenny, seeing herself cut off from the support of her Grunts, has her Arcanine Take Down the back wall of the Sand Tomb surrounding her. She sees the predicament her Grunts are in, surrounded by their enemies and takes the opportunity to try complete her mission. She jumps on the back of her Arcanine and in a burst of extreme speed they rush towards the pyramid temple at the center of the city.

Through all of this, the Sandstorm has been building and now it has arrived full force. visibility has dropped to next to nothing.

OOC: Sandstorm is in effect for the foreseeable future should you guys choose to fight the Rocket Grunts.

Nicolette struggled against her captor . . .
    [dice]20[/dice]

And broke free of the hands holding her down!

Nicolette knew she only had one shot at this, and only one Pokemon that could stand up to the withering sandstorm around them. Once again recalling Emberlace to save the Ponyta from excessive damage, the young trainer released Onix. "Onix, go! Use your rock tomb and block Jenny from entering the temple!! We can't let her inside!" With a mighty bellow, Onix directed its attack toward Jenny and the entrance of the temple.

OOC: Going to do this in a very suspensful way. . . . responses without editing the post after the die roll!

    [dice]20[/dice]

Nicolette was so entranced by the aura of the temple and scattered pottery pieces that she doesn't even hear the Rockets sneak up behind her. Taken hostage along with Emberlace, the two are forcibly moved to the rest of the group. Glaring at the Rockets restraining her, Nicolette spares a moment to give Beryl and Judy an I told you sotype of glance. She had said from the start that Jenny seemed off, and now it was too late.

(OOC: What would the DC be to, say . . . attempt to struggle and break free of the Rockets restraining her?)

There was a shuffle of sand behind her, sloshing against some nearby shards and rocks. Nicolette didn't come over with any Rockets, and her friends were back at the camp. Instinctively, she rolled away from where she was collecting pottery shards, shouting "It's a trap! Emberlace, flame wheel!" The Ponyta reacted instantly, wreathing herself in a torrent of fire as she sprinted around the Rockets who had just tried to capture the pair. The excess heat began to warm the sand within Emberlace's criss-crossing paths, and the sand appeared to start crystalize in places (OOC: not quite hot enough to melt into glass. Emberlace is rather furious right now).

Nicolette hastily climbed up a few tiers of the temple in an attempt to get out of easy reach of her would-be captors, and reached for a pokeball on her belt. She hesitated briefly, and reached for Emberlace's as well. It wouldn't be a good idea to have both out at the same time, she thought to herself as she recalled her Ponyta and unleashed the torrential fury of the Gyarados Of Lazuli Isle.

  • posted a message on [[BaseSpec]] Manlands on Theros?
I think there's a chance that the Zendikar manlands could be reprinted for Theros. Their naming convention sounds generic enough (to me) that it shouldn't cause any flavour issues.
If they also do enemy-coloured manlands, that would be even better.

Also, aren't some of the Zendikar manlands seeing some decent play in Modern? Pretty sure Colonnade and Tar-pit see play, and this does agree with their "making Modern more accessible" policy.
