Wanted to show off our new Nicol Bolas Statue.

Doesn't show in the pic, but he can hold a d20 in his hand. Haven't painted him yet. Wings had to be printed separately because he's so big, but the paint should fix it Slant

Not to be THAT guy, but I can see and agree with both sides of the argument to some degree when it comes to the latest story.

I liked it. I really did... but at the same time when I got to the end, I was like "...that's it?".

I feel like they could have removed any of those one points of views for more continuation. The Bolas moment was on point.

I completely understand why people would dislike it though. The big hype of the Bolas fight or finding out what the purpose of the eternals are has been hanging over our head for a while now.

Now being the sick person in the group, was anyone else more sad to see that one eternal die? Like Bolas only has so many of them. For them to start dropping right out of the gate... man. I donno I've always been stingy about my resources.

The one thing that did irk me about the story... which granted is another nit pick.... how sentient are these eternals?

They of course know their attacks and skills from their previous lives. They can cast spells through whispering incantations... so they can speak on some level.

I wonder if we'll see them talk at all. I don't expect full blown personalities and more of a hive mind thing, but it's clear they can do more then moan. Now I'm thinking about this

    The overwhelming hate is real.

Personally I'm not getting the set, but I appreciate that it would be valuable for others. I feel like this would target two groups of people:

    1. Newer players or players new to magic. Although none of the decks are insanely tuned, 5 decks for the price is a good deal. What a beautiful way to begin getting into commander with a nice list of options.

    2. People who treat it like a board game. I have over 15 decks, but they're all tuned and edited from the precons if they weren't built from scratch. For people like me, a set of precons is a nice fun break of a more casual setting. I have friends who have all the precons that are not touched and they're super fun.

Again I'm not getting it because I don't have that kind of money to spend for something I'd bring out once in a blue moon (in regards to 2). But I think it still has value for the two reasons I listed

i lost my thread... I fail.

I am trying to find a good camera for recording games. I was originally going to use my phone as a side camera for recording what was in our hands while a main cam was reviewing the game.

However we noticed my phone zooms in too much naturally and it's difficult to show the hand. I was looking into getting a cheap small cam

    I found this:

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Hello everyone.

Hope this is in the right section. I was curious on everyone's opinion. Was thinking of recording a game with a buddy for our small group. For regular cam's there isn't much of an issue. But we thought of separate cam that view just our hands. Is there a good cheap cam that can view a hand (from the edge of the table)?

I was considering 3d printing a stand for my phone, but I noticed my phone's cam is too close to see the cards properly.

    I was thinking of this:

Anyone have success with these? Is it too much like a phone?

    Any advice would be great.

I think both types (quick for small investment vs bigger) are viable as although they're ramp, they have different functions as you mentioned. In mid or late game the last thing I want is some little spell to ramp me one, although looking at that 4 mana ramp spell before turn 3 can be irritating.

Depends on the deck but I'd play both kinds.

The art, concept and flavor all make it worth wild in my eyes.

As quoted but also my point is players are often associated by their decks.

For example I have 20 decks. If I played my most hardcore stax or bs combo for the first time with a new players, they associate that with me.
I can play another deck that's more casual right after, and do my best to convince them of that... but I'm probably going to get targeted hard because their only knowledge of me was I play bs cards.

Again, in an ideal world, where people can sit back and post about proper threat assessment and everything else... yes the people I played with should have realized the difference.

However humans are not like that in any aspect. This is especially true with games. And this is especially... especially true with mtg where many players have problems on some level with social interactions.

My advice? Always play your weaker decks first. Even if they're playing strong decks, bite the bullet and lose. THEN bring out the better deck.

This way they associate you with a fun guy who can play hard if he wants, opposed to the other type of guy I mentioned above

Although maybe not justified, I believe your methods of winning are getting you targeted more than the winning itself. Regardless of the deck if I play someone who has a recent history of shutting everyone down to the point where no one else is enjoying the game... I'm probably going to get rid of you before it happens again.

Would it be good in Atraxa? 2 mana to start the snowball of counters on your creatures one at a time isn't... horrible? Not great but I'm trying?

  • posted a message on In your opinion, what aggro commanders would be the best if life totals were changed to 30? (18 for comander damage)
I'm honestly disliking these recent changes or attempt to changes... such as the french dropping life and opening the way for another in between format.

Now ANOTHER format? Sorry for what? A new opening for different kinds of decks to be abused for a change?

Newer to edh then most (started in 2014), but I think people are missing the point of EDH... and maybe Sheldons point (who is Sheldon and why is he important btw? Just curious).
    It's a social format.

Social meaning it's entirely reliant on your play group or your lgs. Tweaking some variables isn't going to stop the hardcore stompers from trying to stomp, nor give the casual kitchen style a curve. Those people have every right to play how they want... that's the beauty of it. If they want to play together, let them.

If I'm playing with a casual group and someone wants to come in with a turn 2 win deck, we will wave them goodbye. Vice versa the causal player will be warned if we're playing pretty hard. Hell I'll even lend him a deck to keep up.

I'm not understanding this need to make a format for every little thing. I get the rules are to help guide the "mood" but where's the free thinking in all this?

Obviously you shouldn't be a jerk about it, but as a group you have every right to kindly tell someone "we won't play with you if you use that deck (within reason). We're playing casual".

To be frank, the deck actually survived the banning with great aplum and now is running rampant with Heart of Kiran. Given the deck lists it's also a deck archetype that will survive into the next season when rotation hits, so it's going to be a popular one that is for sure. Also I tend to disagree on the deck dieing when Gideon goes away. There are options right now that are quite budget and can work in place of Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, and the biggest opposition we have right now basically dies when rotation hits thanks to losing all the delirium based cards from the prior standard. In a lot of ways it reminds me of UW spirits which evolved later on into a completely different form.

What are the budget options for Gideon? I frankly intend to just have more vehicles.

Also I'm seeing a new vehicle archetype with the 1 drop 7/11 vehicles with a lot of animating vehicle enchantments. Is this a theme on its own or you think there's viable mix and matching?

^ I'm glad I'm not the only one dissapointed in the lack of activity this had after the bans.

New to standard but vehicles became a great chance to me to start. I did my first fnm and got 2-2 with my vehicles. I had fleet wheels and caravans because I didn't shell out money for Karin and harvesters.

I did trade the combo planeswalker for 4 harvesters though. I have another planeswalker in trying to trade for a Karin now.

Thing is I don't run Gideon (sold all of them for edh goodies), and I'm sure I'm wrong but I like the harvester better.
