I for one love this card and was immediately struck by its defensive versatility and have been frankly shocked by the fact that no one is talking about this guy. I know everyone loves offense offense OFFENSE! But sometimes the best O is a good D?

    Anyhoo... I love this card!

I think its a great card in architect control; you play the architect and you can immediately play this card. I think it didn't get enough hype initially because it was translated wrongly. The previous translation was to change the target of a spell or ability that targets a single creature. Now it is just change a target of target spell or ability.

Rules wise, you can activate and you use this ability on any ability or spell that targets something but it will be countered/fall off the stack (not sure which) upon resolution if the action of changing the target will be illegal. Targeting the spell or ability is not illegal so long as it has a target.

equip is to creatures you control
since your opponent does not control spellsplitter, it is not a legal target for an equipment so it would not work

dont quote me on this, i could be completely wrong

The thing is that spellsplitter ability does not restrict it to whether spellsplitter is a legal or illegal target. So long as the ability it targets is legal ie targets a single creature; it should be able to change the target of the ability to spellsplitter.

I am not sure whether the action of changing the target of the ability to an illegal target will counter spellsplitter ability or will the targeted ability be countered since it now has an illegal target.

    Hi All,

I would love to put this in the ruling section but I remember that if the card is still a rumor, it will have to remain in the the rumor mill. Here is the card:

    Spellsplitter

:2mana:Artifact Creature{PU}: Target spell or ability that targets a single creature targets ~ instead.
({PU} may be paid for with either blue mana or 2 life.)

Can its ability work on an equip ability of an equipment an opponent controls? I say yes it will work but the equip ability will be countered since the target is not legal duing resolution. Correct me if I am wrong.

Hi, first off would like to thank you for the great work in creating the spoiler. I am having a bit of a problem. I have added MBS to my base and I can see and use them for deck creation. Unfortunately, the set does not seem to exist in my filters and I can't generate MBS boosters or filter for cards solely from MBS. However, when I filter the format to standard; it is there. How do I solve this or did I do anything wrong when I added the set?

I hope it is UU1. Oh crap it can't be. It's a phyrexian card and there is only 1 blue UU1 card in that faction and is taken by Mitotic Manipulation. So it's going to an unplayable UU2.

Is there really any indication that the card Mbsfuturedrafter is talking about is reprint? It is most probably a new card.

If I cast renegade doppelganger this turn. Then play the unearth ability of a creature in my graveyard; will I be able to attack with renegade doppelganger if I copy the unearthed creature?

My understanding is no since the haste granted by the Unearth ability is not a copiable value.

Its not as good as deflection since it can only target spells. Wish it could target abilities too.

Like yours isn't? Anyway, a card that can be abuse with scry and jace. Alone, it really does suck.

He is underrated. He fits Jund so perfectly and can create a 5/5 flying blocker to protect himself. In jund, at worst he is a 5cc, 5/5 flyer that makes your opponent discard a card(to finish Sarkhan off)/or draws you two cards. 5cc is not high for jund. Jund is running 3 broodmate dragons and 3 siege gang commanders; having this fill in a Siege gang slot is not bad. That said you won't play 4 of this unlike Jace 2.0.

As for Gideon, as good as elspeth in STANDARD/block not better. The problem is he is only good in standard/block. No other format is going to find a place for him. Definitely, over priced.

I really like the b/u version of this deck running 4 Jace and 4 See Beyond is great. It ensures that emrakul and iona won't be stuck in your hand. That said, it needs more zendikons.

My opinion of this set is that there are many great rare/mythic cards for black, white, green and red. Blue has extremely lousy rares and mythics. However, I can't deny that the creatures in blue this time round are quite strong. All in all a set designed more for limited play than constructed.

I dislike the way WotC is heading. The distinction between colors is becoming less and less. It seems every color is suppose to play aggro now. We are all forced to play creature base decks. I admit Blue has better creatures than before but its still not as good as other colors because other color creatures keep getting better.

I don't see any strengths in blue anymore. Its decent card draw spells are all sorcery, its creature's are more expensive, counter magic is slow and ineffective, its removal are expensive and all sorcery speed, its tempo cards are useless as it can't cope with threats churn out by other colors.

If WotC hates counter magic then get rid of it. Blue might as well just play without them. Give blue better library and hand manipulation spells. I thought practitioners of blue magic were suppose to masters of the mind. Give blue EFFICIENT(not 5-10 mana casting cost) spells that put cards from an opponents hand into their library, arrange the top cards of an opponent's library or search an opponents library for cards to steal or remove. Those are the kind of cards blue should have. Only jace 2.0 seems be doing that, there should be more cards of that nature.

Only good card of the bunch is the Merfolk lord. The rest can go into a garbage bin. The 2 mana counter has its use in a fast blue aggro deck (if its ever possible!) but in a control deck cancel is anytime better!

The 4 mana counter is just lame. 4 mana and all I get to do is look at your hand? Sheesh. Dude recall is just unusable because its a sorcery. If it was am instant there could be some use. I rather try my luck with treasure hunt!
