It doesn't even fly... let us hope we get a good 1 drop but that might simply break the deck.

Corey Beaumaister played 3 matches with PVDDR's list and went 3-0. The deck looks so solid and aggresive first match and then has exceptional sb games against real decks. He faced UW control i think, Blue Moon and Storm.

has anyone tried ancestral vision with the new creatures? i've tested some with it in casual games and has been incredible if suspended turn 1. It's a terrible top deck but gives us gas when most needed: turn 5. So we dump our hand, and by turn 5 we draw 4 cards and replay everything or close out the game.
I know it's been tested before but i'm not sure if it has with the new creatures.
In any case i'll run a list this friday and post the results.

I've lost so much faith in the deck that i'm close to trade it for another modern deck. Last FNM was pretty terrible, i feel that the deck don't have the versatility it needs to do what it should do. I mean, burn and humans out aggro us, combo decks just go off before we have lethal, control deck just pick our creatures apart and once they stabilize it's impossible for us to come back, and midrange decks just have more incremental advantage than us, a well timed discard spell and that's about it.
I've always thought that the tempo route was the way to go so i built a pretty standard vial list, but i'm getting crushed in my meta. Granted, i face Jeskai Control, Humans, Burn, KCI, Ad Nauseam and Jund pretty often, but none of those match ups feel even close game one, the only way of defeating those decks is getting a perfect hand and don't have it picked apart by discard.
We probably will see some results in larger events but i thinks it's the popularity of deck, not it's power level.

I think this new lord clearly favors the UW build. I ran Bant Spirits and you're looking to curve Hierarch/Birds into GoST and the CoCo, skipping the 2 drops. UW looks stronger now because it can play a tempo strategy, with Vial and Rattlechains enabling instant speed fliers that can protect other creaatures and gain incremental advantage while holding up things like Remand or Vapor Snag to slow down the opponent and close the game with creatures. Ican Easily see something like Vial T1, new lord T2 plus wanderer through vial, T3 Rattlechains through Vial and protect those 6 flying power with Captain, Rattlechains or other spells and win in 3/4 turns. UW is the way i'll go at least.

I fully agree, there no way Jace's prices will crash. Printed as a mythic in an expensive set means that M25 will only make a dent on its price. In fact the old printings may retain their value and M25 Jace will be a little cheaper, which is what happened to lili with MM17.

What do you guys think about Thoughtseize? IoK can't grab Jace, which may be crucial for some midrange decks, and they'll probably max out on TS. And it was recently reprinted so it's unlikely to be in M25. Will we see a significant price variation?

Collonade would have spiked hard alone if not reprinted in M25, now with jace unbanned they might get into the 70-80 dollars range if not reprinted.

I also expect some increase in BBE targets like kolaghan's command (arguably the best hit you can get out of BBE), maelstrom pulse, hero's downfall (influenced by jace also.
Some increase may be seen in W control/tempo cards that goes well with Jace like Remand.

We'll have to see where the prices settle and what M25 brings us, but prices wild go wild and in circles these couple of weeks.

yeah, by looking the matches and the pt overall it's fairly obvious that modern it's in a grrat shape and no bannings are needed. thing is, lantern is miserable to play against and to watch... wotc might consider a ban for those reasons alone, though not likely.

loved the pt, we had all kind of decks, even midrange in the form of abzan, which put up horrible results outside reid.

hope this makes wotc give more love to modern as it has proven to be a lively, wild and skillful format

according to mtggolfish the prices stay in their lowest for about 6 months before they start to slowly climb back up, the lowest point is when there's more cards in the market so probably between 2 weeks to 2 months since the release

I'm pretty confused about the theme of M25. If they respect the name as a celebration of mtg's 25th birthday, then they should reprint the most important magic cards throughout it's history. Then cards like Scapeshift should not make the cut in my opinion.
Thing is they didn't respect that with iconic masters, i mean, you don't get more iconic than lightning bolt and it wasn't included, so the criteria is pretty confusing for me.
If they disregard the theme and go for a reprint set then it should include scapeshift, ravager, bitterblossom, opal, explosives, karn, wurmcoil, batterskull, collonade, clique, hierach, etc.
There's a big question mark for recently reprinted and iconic cards like lili of the veil, snapcaster or goyf. They are among the most important cards in mtg history and the prices have climbed back up there but they were reprinted very recently.
And that's without considering legacy staples or expensive cards outside modern.
This next set is so confusing for me, specially since i opened 2 mm17 lilis and i'm hesitant wether to sell or keep them.

Hey guy, i'm running Abzan Tokens having already tried Esper and Orzhov. In my experience at least, Abzan is more consistant than Esper and more versatile and powerful than BW (Yes, Vraska is an absolute powerhouse).

    My list:

    Sideboard

My meta is mostly Temur Energy, RR, GPG and some Aggro brews mostly in BR colors.

I went to the FNM last week and went 2-1-1. I really loved the deck, it felt very consistent and mulliganed twice on 10 games. The mana worked beautifully, got a little screwed once but it virtually never happens.
My first match was up against a Primal Amulet/Torment of Hailfire deck. Beat me in G1 as i had no answers to a Cut//Ribbons in the GY. G2 and G3 Lost Legacied away the Hailfires and killed him before he found the other wincon.

Second match against Ramunap Red was very frustating as we went to time and left him at 1 while i was at 43. Thid match up is just as easy as it gets. They need a perfect hand and for us to stumble a lot, but i feel really confident even playing with only 2 Pushes. There's so many ways to stabilize... an eternalized SC is great, trading pushes or priests for their creatures and then embalm with an anointed procession is great, ambush their 1 toughness creatures with start//finish and then kill another with the finish side. Just have to be careful to not go down to much in life, as the have ways to close out games very fast and always have a back up Cast Out or Ixalan's Bindind for Haz or the Red Dino. First gamae i lost to a crazy hand for him, second game won by ultimating Vraska, and third game i stabilized with 2 Eternal SC but lacked agression (first time i ran the deck so i was not very confident)

Third match was against GPG and just got run over. He had bigger creatures at all times and Angel of Invention (we're very soft to fliers). After sideboard it didn't improve much so i'm considering adding 2 Sentinel Totem to the SB. By now it's a very difficult match up.

Last match was against Esper control. First game i won it by flipping a Treasure Map with a Procession on the field. TM is such a powerful card. Never lost a game after i flipped it, specially when the tokens get doubled up. Second game went to turns and couldn't find a Shefet dunes to close it out earlier as he played 2 authority of the consuls. Anyway i legacied their Scarab gods so the only win con he had was Torrential Gearhulk that was pretty useless against my tokens.

Over the week i tuned the SB to beat Temur Energy as a lot of players picked up the deck after the protour. And i've been doing very well. Game one is 50/50, but then the SB in their control package and board out Magma Sprays, Harnessed lightnins and FP in Sultai energy. I then include the cats and Tocatli Honor Guards. The Adorned Pouncer makes for a great early blocker that doesn't get hit by negate, then if you can eternalize one with a Procession or two out, they're a nightmare and often win games on their own. The guards turns off the best part of their creatures and disrupts their whole game plan as they also lose the card draw of Rogue Refiner. Game 3 gotta go with your gut and try to guess if they board in removal or stick to the counters thinking that we're going to go back to the main plan.

The most difficult part of sideboarding is trying not to go too far from the main way to win. I almost always board out the Landings as in some match ups attack with 3 creatures in the early and mid game is almost impossible and the reward is not that big.

So, i really liked the deck, it felt very versatile as it has game against almost any deck, the cut to 2 Fatal Pushes also felt correct as against RR other cards take the spotlight and it's almost useless against Energy variants (maybe not too bad against Sultai). Also thought about Liliana, but it has been performing great for me.

    Thoughts?

wow i really like those lists, it's worth to be noted though that w/u versions are piloted by great players including one of my favorites: gerry thompson
it seems that the deck has legs, and it's not very expensive

it worries me that it will not hold out the next rotation, militia capitan, spell queller and bygone bishop are key cards that will rotate out :/
