The End of an Era

We probably won't know until we actually get to test it. I know some people are going to be doing some hard testing of it in the mono-U version, and I am certainly excited for it in the UG version. How many is unknown though.

Looks like they're just taking their time with sending out orders. Just got my shipping confirmation about 5 minutes ago. FedEx shipping from PA to CA.

As for the sheets, keep in mind that those (and the $20 gift card) are free.

You WILL get a refund for a non-received product. And if your order has not been refunded, but was canceled, you can now open a claim with eBay, who will step in and get the refund for you if the seller is not cooperating. Ebay is extremely favorable to buyers at the expense of sellers.

I kept telling people to keep their cool. As nutso as this process is, of course it's going to take them extra time to ship.

And to those people complaining about the uncut sheet, that's FAR more value than I expected them to give out as a concession. Heck, the $20 is more than I expected. Uncut sheets have some real value and getting the foil one is even harder. I am actually confused at how they are going to have enough of these sheets laying around to send out. Maybe they still have the presses up and ready.

They said they were sending for more to be printed.

My refund finally cleared yesterday evening. I am now just waiting to see it go from Paypal to the card it is linked to.

the compensation is somewhat of a soft confirmation that it may not have been logistically feasible to create and then print something unique, or even print something that is/has been scheduled to be printed at some other time. so unlike the case with the UMA box toppers being given out, which had already been produced and packaged, wizards went to what they could get in a timely manner.

id imagine many will probably think theyd rather just get that sheet, but cut into cards. however, it being a sheet retains the spirit of a collectors piece, while not quite being as on the nose about 'here are some cards indistinguishable from what is found in packs, and thus worth exactly as much as seen on the secondary market'. i cant say i know anything about getting the sheet cut properly after getting them (straight cuts would leave square corners, even if exact to card size - thus not tournament legal afaik). i know people do this, particularly for mis cuts, and play with them; so its not impossible.

as for how many of these will be out there (ie the number of people being compensated with them). hard to tell exactly with it being a given that some significant portion of the 45k 'sold' shown a the end of the ME sale were just failed/erroneous transactions. my guess if i had to throw a number out would be in the 15-20k range.

lastly, and this is assuming they are all contained on one sheet, the JPN alt-art walkers are the obvious potential alternative that meets the conditions i mentioned at the start (in production right now). im dubious that wizards didnt realize it as a consideration, which therefore means they actively decided against it. their rarity (show up half the time), and how sought after some of them are (as reflected in their market price atm); might have had an uncut sheet with the full foil set of them together being worth quite a bit down the road.

No single uncut sheet will have all 36 alt arts (unless they do something different for alternate arts and I am unaware) since half of them are uncommons; they would be on a separate sheet than the rares and mythics.

Anyone else still have a pending refund? It's been ~80 hours since it was issued and still hasn't cleared.

StP is one of my favorite commander cards. If you are playing it in a Zombie deck, I would pick something with zombie synergies in the set or something that just has a bunch of creatures. The latter I've found Masters and Core sets to be really good for, but any set that was designed to be drafted would be good to. The best is when you open a set that has something like Archaeomancer, which will get your StP back for you to use again.

The middle-ground between zombies and value though would probably be Innistrad (Liliana, Snapcaster, etc) or Amonket (Invocations)

A 5-mana overloaded Cyclonic Rift that leaves a Cyclonic Rift in your hand seems pretty good.

What's the order of actions when you sac Rhonas to Prime Speaker Vannifar? Do you shuffle before or after you tuck him?
Vannifar's ability fully resolves before Rhonas' trigger does. You shuffle first, then tuck.

Incorrect. You sacrifice Rhonas as a cost and put Vannifar's trigger on the stack. Rhonas then triggers and gets placed on the stack, which will resolve first. Tuck, then shuffle.

I can't stand her art though. It looks like she gained 50lbs

No, she just looks REALISTIC, which I'm a fan of.

Assuming 50 cards in library and the card you name having 4 copies in the library your odds of hitting at least one copy with her +1 is about 30%. Of that 30% the odds of hitting 2 or more of the named card is 3%. Barring some kind of Relentless Rats, Persistent Petitioner decks breaking out a 4 mana walker that draws one third of a card each turn it pretty awful. It's not even in the Dimir colors where you can stack the stop of the deck with Surveil and have all the entering the GY from the deck cards that matter.

You could name island, or forest. You could name a god card after it goes third from the top, like zombie Kneft or zombie Rhonas. You can play mission briefing with her. You can play her in a BUG(Sultai) deck. You can do her -3. You can play her to shut down Liliana of the veil.

This isn’t the greatest card ever, but it has plenty of utility.

    You name a nonland card.

Hey, everyone! I have been considering delving into Legacy, and since Merfolk is the deck I know best, it only makes sense that this is one of the ones I've been looking at closest. I have noticed a few decks popping up recently with Fetches and a playset of Brainstorms; is this a new tech? Is it the norm now?

I would also recommend Wilderness Reclamation so you can play on your turn and your opponents'.

If you like the creature/stompy version: I had a lot of fun playing with things like Overbeeing of Myth and other "hand-size matters"/Maro type creatures since you will tend to have a good number of cards in hand at all times.

Altered Ego is another favorite of mine.
