Why do y'all think Wizards gives a ****? They're the ones who gave the vendors the list in the first place? So the foul up as far as WOTC will be concerned is that the vendor got caught, and only that.
If Wizards didn't want stuff like this to happen, they would just release the spoilers on announcement. They don't do that though because they're as crooked as the vendors. It's a multinational corporation for crying out loud. I've said it many times Magic is the best game and hobby I've ever found, but WOTC is a terrible company.
Without the Reserve list cards being reprinted, this set will just be a slap in the face to anyone who actually wants to get into Legacy. Also, if this makes Legacy more popular then RL cards are going to jump, a lot.
My bet is this is that this is Modern support, with Legacy inclusions.
I like that they're moving towards doing these yearly. Modern has to have support with an ever expanding game.
If the Reserve List stands, Legacy and Vintage are dead formats; it's just that simple. This doesn't change that.
Did I mention I'm looking forward to drafting this though?!
Man I'm pumped for madness. Anyone want to join me in getting Jace, Vryn's Prodigy banned lol?
I'm also very much looking forward to Trick Jarrett flipping his wig. Since the last "response" was so well received I think we'll not hear anything about this leak though, we'll see.
Love me some Innistrad, can't wait. WOTC can say what they want, but getting a leak like this is a good thing.
After watching the coverage, and reading the hysteria; I have several thoughts
Thoughtseize is where I would've wanted to be turn 1 against these Eldrazi decks.
Shocking myself to thoughtseize sounds pretty bad in a format where burn is popular, so I guess a swamp heavy base is the place to be.
The Eldrazi monsters... die to doom blade/go for the throat; as well as Dismember. So lets get those in the mix.
As some earlier posters mentioned Obliterator looks good. I guess mono'ish black it is?
Ghost Quarter into surgical extraction could easily cripple the eye/temple base.
Lili could be good if you can control the first turns with disruption/removal.
I think mono black has the tools, but could it be tweaked to deal with other top tier decks? We'll see, but a deck with the above tools is where I'm starting.
I like Magic, a lot. I've played it off and on since the game came out, but I've about had it with Wizards.
They'll make an awesome promo for their horribly unfunctional online money trap, but they aren't printing this as a promo for an FNM or GP?
I've been discussing it with friends, and I think we're just going to boycott sealed product. Many of us didn't buy boxes of OTG because of recent WOTC actions anyway. I like drafting, but if it means hurting WOTC at this point I'll do it. We're going to just buy singles from our LGS, and give WOTC the finger. They don't deserve my dollars currently.
I think what's sad about this, is that there is a huge amount of pent up demand that WOTC isn't addressing.
People want to play these older formats, ALOT. They want to play WOTCs game so much that people run and play in proxy tournaments, and buy counterfeit cards to play in sanctioned events.
If I had a million people banging on my door to buy something, and all I have to do is wave my hand at a printing press to give it to them... Well this doesn't take a genius to figure out what the correct business decision is. Give people what they want, or they'll get it somewhere else.
Lastly, I want to address something as a veteran player who first pulled beta packs when he was 14. In my opinion Legacy and Modern are not the most interesting formats, or the most fun.
Getting run over 3-4 games by totally degenerate decks without being able to actually play Magic can get stale fast. That will happen sometimes whether your a good player with a decent deck or not, a lot. It's fun to be dishing out Wasteland, but your day will come. All this to say I firmly believe that limitations breed creativity and fun; actually being able to play Magic is fun. Standard and Limited aren't for lesser people or experience levels, they're just different. (Edit: I want Block constructed back please.)
I think Wizards should shut their mouths; they keep sticking their feet in them.
I think Wizards needs to print the cards people want, in cool formats like Conspiracy, Event decks, and Modern/Legacy Masters. Card prices be damned. It's now in evidence that people are going to get them counterfeit anyway, don't they want to make a buck? Do they honestly think a private toy company can control this situation? It's crazy. Print the cards, shut up, and take the money.
It will be interesting to see if the Surge deck can come together in Linited. It'd also be nice to open the BFZ pack first to see if you can get Zada to build around, but no such luck.
RDW will need all the help it can get with the return of Drown in Sorrow to the format.
And Kozilek's Return... And Chandra's Sweeper ability...
Hard times for Aggro ahead.
Honestly though, Aggro strategies are too fast for standard. They lead to feel bad moments when new players durdle with their new cards. It's for the best. /sarc
Do my eyes deceive me or is this yet another 2/1 rare flyer for two that shouldn't be rare? Unlike Bearer of Silence, this card will most likely always be that, just a flying body. Yes, sure, it enables processors, it might save itself from removal, but who in the world uses removal on a 2/1? And to be fair, it doesn't even do it all the time! Against an average Limited/Sealed deck, this ability will whiff around 60% of the time. As far as enabling processors goes, we haven't really seen a single one in this set. So in the end, you have a 2/1 flyer that enables a strategy that doesn't seem to have a lot of support, it needs basically a second "color" to do it and its ability to save itself will fail more often then not. Wow. And don't you dare give me that "you can activate it more then once" deal since it requires C for its ability, and colorless sources need to be picked up and drafted and you won't have many of them.
This one feels like it could've been uncommon. I do like it though. Flash is probably my favorite mechanic.

Greatest of card games, terrible company.
Seeker of the Way, Oath of Gideon, Sorin
That you can ultimate Sorin the turn after he comes down is pretty ridiculous.
It's hard to lose when your opponent has to sac a creature every turn.

You'd think it would have a place in some number?
I actually think this deck wants to be Grixis C or Jund C. Especially running Crossroads.
Also. I know it's out of flavor, but a couple Heelcutter couldn't hurt.

Still the BFZ block ones are playable, at least in standard.
WWK
Colonnade
Tar Pit
Raging Ravine
Wildwood
Lavaclaw
BIG... HUGE...
Careful... Use the hand rail...
Step down...
BFZ
Fumarole
Vents
Lumbering Falls
Hissing Quagmire
Needle Spires
Thanks again WOTC for the feel bad.
They were just too tiny and too fast, they ran out there and ate it like a squirrel under a tire.
Now all we have left is the Warren dullards.
I was hoping this set would give a good 1 drop goblin or two to go with Piledriver, but no such luck.
This is all very sad bc there are no goblins on Innistrad.
