I see alot of people have been talking about it being viable post rotation
Anyone care to share wat the MOST LIKELY BUILD would be( iknow this is early but i really would like to use this deck post rotation)
Venser is definitally an option
So is cloudskate
There have been some recent threads on other sites about this deck going only creatures which i believe to b a bad mistake
One well timed wrath removes the decks stregnth
Also the non-creature spells the deck runs are to powerful to worry about some opponents drawing cards off of storyteller
Thoughts???
Would this deck even be viable and worthy of the name omnichord w/out white
Or would this deck be considered U/G Pickles control
The reason i ask is bcuz i recently had a flamewar with a poster on another site(mainly reason why ill never go back to that site again) stating that any control deck with chord and arcanis is omnichord
So to my question: What makes omnichord diffrentiable from say U/G pickles and storychord and what makes it a more viable option rather than one of those archtypes with more stabiler mana bases
Uhhh...
The fact that the opponent plays ANY non-creature spell(aka enchantment, artifact, sorcery, instant) nets you a card and since you only play 4 non-creature spells your opponent won't draw cards off him
Nope and most people don't even aknowledge its existense
The problem is currently if you want to run U/G control there are no advantages this deck provides over say omnichord
It just runs a better game plan and is more resilient to control hate (ie, pacts, damnations)
I think this deck has great potential post rotation (even though we are not supposed to disscuss that) and have even built a block deck off the idea as well
Even though we don't have chord we still have pact as mentioned above and after testing in block it serves just as good substitute w/out being a combat trick
No but i don't think it has a place in the deck
1) It ups the non-creature count to 8 and truthfully we already have tutors and card draw to pull out the beasts/storyteller
2) If you play it early game you have to tap down to pay the cost, this deck needs to continually drop relevent threats especially early game
On another note i was wondering if we could add aeon chronicler to the deck since we are drawing alot of card advantage anyway (or mainly the fact he is my favorite TSP creature and whenever i play blue i want him in my deck) Thoughts???
Rikus11 is right
The oracle has a greater chance of providing a cantrip effect then being an accelerator
So with 12 accelerators it allows for crucial early drops for the deck and mana later for chording
Has anyone played the deck billy moreno piloted a few months back in which he played RDW and urborg for korlash
I played this deck in a few(yes in kno that only 7 games doesn't constitute good) but its really good to strip mine a U/B teachings urborg then i also sided 4 tendrils for sb against aggro
Thoughts???
And with cards like slaughter pact brine lock works for what a whole turn
Yea crovax would work but i was trying to make a point
And besides now you have the reality of what are the chances that you actually have two chords in hand which to chord out teferi then arcanis
I just think relying on 4 cards to sweep the game for you may b risky but then again i may b wrong(especailly if they extirpate your chord)
@Piro, Iceman, KlarcNot that your points are very validating i was just offering a(IMO) better win condition as since i dont post anything without some semblence of knowledge heres my logic:
You go 2nd turn wall, 3rd turn hierarch, 4th turn suspend chronicler, 5th turn chord for 6
Also many of you posted about doing things at end of turn
This is not dralnu, while we have many cards that can be played at instant speed(snake, chord, teferi) the chances of having the 1 teferi, 4 chords(especially being at 6) is very slim in the first few turns
The chronciler idea i proposed was for a midgame threat+card advantage
If you rely on arcanis its pretty much easy for the opponent when you tap out for the chorded arcanis to go char at the end of his turn, unless of course you wait 4 more turns to have the mana to bounce him to your hand in responce
k after playing this deck i realize like u guys said the value of vesuvan shapeshifter
they are much better on the table than on paper
I still think chronicler is still to good not to play though especially with arcanis
Wat do u guys think??
Question
In my build i added 3 aeon chronicler for the 2 of the three vesuvan shapeshifter considering that the deck only really runs them to chord out for the lock
I also play 1 reya dawnbringer to ensure that the pickles lock if disrupted would still remain applicable
the deck plays great versus the board(if u want match results just pm me) and im not just saying that
it sux versus blink and bridge but bridge is winnable before and after board
i have no awnsers to blink though suggestions???
