Aug 8, 2017I've never had issues with Jund. I usually play some death and taxes variant or b/w eldrazi but I do sometimes randomly sleeve up when U/W control and tron variants dissapear. And I used to pray on jund. 4 leylines 2 pithing needles 2 gideons and 2 rest in peace is what I would bring out of the sideboard and I can say with confidence Midrange fair decks are my best matchup. I had a really good run on a PPTQ half a year ago when I went 5-2 missing top 8 losing to UWR and Tron but beating, death shadow zoo, grixis, jund and 2x abzab.Posted in: Aggro & Tempo

-Against aggro, sunlance or dismember ? I would say sunlance, because we don't want to loose more life with dismember.
- elspeth knight errant or gideon ally of zendikar?
I just played 2 Gideons at WCMQ and the card is insane. It's even seeing legacy sideboard play in death and taxes. If you can't kill Gideon you are toast.
Jul 9, 2016Went 3-3 at WCMQ and I don't fault the deck at all. All loses were super close and the wins felt easy.Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
Skred L 1-2:
Matchup highly depends on what part of the deck they draw. I won game 1, game 2 lost to blood moon and game 3 got stomped by bunch of fat dragons.
Tron W 2-0: I decimated him, flickerwisp into strangler into 2 ghost quarters god it was dirty. Game 2 we both mull to 6 and he keeps 1 landers and expedition map. I land a pithing needle on Expedition map and leonin arbiter into ghost quarter.
Jund W 2-1: I lose a grindy game 1 but with no sideboard he is just better at grinding. Game 2 get a triple leonin arbiter with ghost quarter on the play. Game 3 I demolish him with Rest in Peace and Gideon, Ally of Zendikar. Gideon, Ally of Zendikar just outgrinds him into oblivion. It was amazing, absorbing some hits, making a bunch of 2/2s and beating for 5. God I was so impressed by that card, it was the sole reason I won. Also a judge is called on Rest in peace
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet interaction and judge rules that if Rest in Peace was played 1st he is not getting any tokens. Still not sure if that's right and want some conformation if anyone knows.
Infect L 1-2: Felt good but he kills me turn 3 trough Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. Game 2 I win trought the interaction of Flickerwisp and Wasteland Stranger. Game 3 I have to keep a sad 6 with Zealous Persecution and Path and he has a great hand and wins while I draw nothing.
Jeskai W 2-0: I gobbled him up. Win game 1 off Reality Smasher and Thought-knot seer. Game 2 I play turn 1 Aether Vial which he Wear // Tear. Turn 2 I play Leonin Arbiter into a Mana Leak taking his counterspell to lock him with Graffdigger's Cage and Pithing Needle on nahiri, the harbringer. He is now so far behind and can't recover.
Death's Shadow Zoo L 1-2. Bull***** games 1 and 3 where he has 3 Death's Shadow into Temur Battle Rage and Become Immense. Game 2 he can't deal with my assault of creatures from 2 Aether Vial while Wasteland Strangler are killing his creatures.
I had great sideboard for grindy games and terrible for creatures matchups. I severely lacked creature removal. I need to sideboard 1 Dismember instead of Timely Reinforcments which is not even good against burn after I tested a few matches after the burn player. I am also highly excited for new Thalia, having a card who can win combat and do some hate is gonna be great. Wasteland Stranger was amazing and I always wanted to draw it while Eldrazi Displacer was good it was a mediocre 3/3 most of the time and vs the decks that I had mana he instantly took a Lightning bolt to the face.
Changes post EMN
-2x Eldrazi Displacer
-1x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
+3x New thalia
-1 Timely Reinforcments
Jul 9, 2016Posted in: MidrangeQuote from deaddrift »I went 4-0-1 for second of 43 players tonight.
I beat Affinity, UB mill, Jeskai Control (no Nahiri), and Grixis Delver, and I tied with Blue Moon. I have written a lot of tourney reports for this thread over the past couple of months, not so sure that people really find any benefit from them though.
I am happy to write reports if some readers like them enough to let me know. Would side in/out notes be useful? More detail about key cards? But maybe just coming by every few days to report more reliable success with the build--which is what I continue to find at my LGS--isn't really the most productive way to use our time and bandwidth.
Anyway, still super surprised that this deck is not on anyone's radar. I'm making like $20-30/week in credit at my local FNM type events. I'm convinced that the new EMN cards will further shift the overall near-term meta towards graveyard utility, making our Relics (etc.) even better. Might as well enjoy riding this dark horse as far as we can, I suppose.
The thing id like to know the most is how you sideboard. When you are bringring lots of cards in I have no idea what to take out.
Jun 28, 2016I also play Martyr proc and a ton of people switched to b/w version when Anguished Unmaking became availible. I still have flashes of them abrupt decayinging my ring or bouncing it with crytping. There is no way i'll ever play obliviong rings, it's just so fragile and unreliable. God forbid someone maelstrom pulses 2.Posted in: Midrange
Jun 27, 2016What would be the benefit of Gideon over Reality Smasher?Posted in: Modern Archives - Established
Also I am really interested in how he sideboard vs stuff like Jeskai Nahiri. +2 cage +1needle +1anguished +2 rip +2 gideon? But what does he take out -3 displacers,-2 splicers, a combination of scullers and stranglers?

Jun 25, 2016I have the opposite news. After a year of durdling around with the monowhite death and taxes I finally finished eldrazi B/W and crushed 4-0. The eldrazi cards are so powerful im never going back. Instead of locking people out and than not being able to win in tons of turns I just beatdown people with far more powerful cards. I beat U/R delver with Blood Moon, G/b rock list, Boggles and Grixis Control.Posted in: Modern Archives - Established
