This is a really sweet deck. If you are looking for another way to beat things like surgical, you could try quicksilver amulet.
A lot of the goryo's vengeance player's run it as a fifth breach.
Don't know if you are on here....but "Suminok" on MTGO did a great job!!! He just beat BrewSpy (a streamer I'm currently watching) in game one with a Green Devotion deck...looked like either a Stompy version or a traditional version; but Strangleroot into Primeval Titan was enough Hopefully game two goes just as smoothly!
@Curdbros - the only person to root for the opponent of the streamer they are watching.
@Caspian - remember that with glittering wish you may want to play a worship in the sideboard instead of in the main so that a [c]Slaughter Games[c/] or
[c]Surgical Extraction[c/] type effect won't get all of them.
Hi all, been getting hit hard by an uptick in Grixis Control in my area. Looks like some others are having the same problem I'm having: card disadvantage. I run a full set of Horizon Canopy but it's still not enough. Like SyloRiyami, I'm considering Tireless Tracker or Bygone Bishop out of the sideboard for the grindy matchups. I've also considered Mentor of the Meek in the same slot. Does anyone have some experience testing these three cards (Tireless Tracker, Bygone Bishop, and Mentor of the Meek) in a Hatebears list? If so, which did you like the best, and did you stick with them? Thanks in advance.
I believe that Duskwatch Recruiter is another one worth looking at.
Edit: Sorry that I can't actually answer your question.
I would imagine this is very helpful. But I do want to add that it isn't always about just trying to have a valid target for oath-it's also
important to try to make it so that you will likely have more than one choice among the cards revealed. Same goes for gen hydra, if I am casting it for let's say x=5 then I am not necessarily just wanting to get "card advantage" type value out of it as much as wanting to add something relevant to the board along
with the 5/5 body. So if cast for x=5 then I am not as worried about the chance of it missing a target all-together as I am about maybe only hitting utopia
sprawl or something. But I definitely want to thank you for your work-especially on the odds around the gen hydra at lower costs since that is something
that having an idea of the chances of it working for your list can definitely be important in a game. Thanks
Also could you by any chance do the math on hitting two valid target's with gen hydra? Obviously it's okay if not. Thanks again
Hello everyone, I have a question about the deck. I had kinda "promised" myself that if I make another modern deck that I will play blue and have
some counterspells in it, I know that this deck doesn't exactly want to be playing cryptic commands but has anyone tried playing a somewhat tempo-ish
version? The deck is very capable of getting a 4 power threat out early and turning on the ferocious for stubborn denial and also swan song seems like it could work since this deck tends to be able to almost ignore a 2/2 token. Also primal command doesn't seem too bad
either, it could allow you to get a specific creature while also bouncing a land, which can also help you get ahead in the early game.
Thanks for any and all help
Edit: after reading this a midrangey type build seems like it could be a bit more likely to work. Between the cards already mentioned and things like acidic slime, the -1 on garruk and kiora that seems quite possible.
You, my friend, have not lived until you witness the grip of terror that creeps across the gaze of your Island-slinging opponent when you put a Boil on the stack.
Also, welcome to MtGS.
1) Welcome IceeeD 2) I personally keep two ricochet traps and one boil in my sideboard-not only does boil sometimes remove their lands and put them too far
behind to win the game but it is also useful against non twin/counter heavy decks like merfolk-at fnm I managed to resolve a boil against my merfolk opponent as you can expect it's pretty much where the game ended and I took over.
So I am a big fan of this thread and a massive fan of Living End in general. I know that a lot of people look to living end as a budget way of getting into
modern, my version is a lot cheaper than some of the other lists as I am not able to afford everything yet-if I spend some time and write down my list
would this be useful to the thread as something that players with a lower budget can be pointed towards? This might also be useful to me as I can have some more experienced LE players take a look.
Can you guys share a list? Someone I know is buying into living end and would love help.
Also, whats the concensus on living twin? I ask because I lost to it in top 4 of a big PPTQ and I was always curious if thats a regular thing lol.
Finally, what matchups should my buddy watch for? Thanks in advance
I'll let someone who is more likely to have a polished list post it, but problem matchups are mainly(in my experience) burn and affinity.
I have not gotten too many chances to play against affinity but burn is kinda heavy at my lgs-I find that matchup works out best when you attack their lands.
Land hate is a normal strategy for living end but remember that a burn deck wants two lands typically, so although beast within-ing their land may give them
some continous damage if it leaves them at one land I still normally find it worth it because then things like skullcrack and atarka's command and lightning helix
are just going to sit in their hand.
Congrats! Hopefully you can pick up those Fulminators, the deck can really suffer without them.
Welcome to the joy of Living End.
Thank you! I had played it a ton between cockatrice and proxies-but man does it feel good to have the real thing sleeved up and tournament legal.
Also I have found that the land destruction the deck offers really feeds my more sadistic side
I forgot to write here on friday night/saturday morning, I got ahold of my living end deck but hadn't been able to get to fnm until last friday.
Still the deck was great[even though I am missing fulminators ] and it was the first time I managed to get a pack with my own deck.
Thank you guys for all the help and the various decklists and stuff, I've read a lot of the thread. Oh and the merfolk player seems to
hate me now
Edit:By get a pack I mean place high enough to win one.
So I do not own temur delver-it is a delver version that I am very fond of though(I quite like both iGrow and counter cat too), but I just have to ask about
some other people's opinions on that temporal trespass list! That seems really cool to me, and also I have always liked savage knuckleblade for some reason too.
Does anyone think that it can be made close to broken? Does anyone think that this could be made into it's own version of delver?(I think that some sort of
delver/tempo deck is the most realistic home-and like i said I love the day's undoing delver variation) I could see this working very well with send to sleep,
being able to cast sleep on opponent's turn-then get in with everything and then untapping and being able to do it again.
Is this the place to discuss the deck that was featured by SaffronOlive on mtggoldfish? Or did I just not come across the right?
That deck is an aristocrats deck so yes, you could discuss it here
Also, his list seems relatively decent-I would definitely consider grim haruspex as an addition to that list. He talks about using coco to make sure
that he doesn't run out of steam but I think the haruspex could work too-just remember to sacrifice it before attempting the infinite combo so you don't mill youself out.

That is the craig wescoe coverage at like 2:38
