I'm not sure if i'm posting this in the right forum but it seems like this season is getting severely nerfed in terms of the number of ptqs. New england only has 2 ptqs this season while we normally have at least 4 and usually 5. On top of this the ptqs are in stores which barely have the capacity of a larger ptq. Im not sure if this is the case in other areas but it is extremely disappointing to say the least.
Thanks for replying. How many games did you draw Jitte? So you were running 14 lords and Sower and no Kira? I'm just trying to make sure I know the list so I know what I am trying to imagine.
I drew jitte in one other game and 14 lords with sower and no kira is correct. most of the games were won with of 1 or 2 counters backed with pressure.
What was Merfolk boarding in? I find as a general rule the Merfolk board is not well equipped to fight Dredge.
I don't think anyone has ever tried Eternal Witness, probably for good reason. What match ups would you want it against?
EDIT: Maybe a more relevant question. What build of Merfolk? This is probably very important since Fish recently had multiple dead cards against us.
I was dan's testing partner who was piloting merfolk. the list had all the standard cards and the flux slots had 2 merfolk sovereign and a sower of temptation. I boarded in 2 relics and 1 jitte however i only saw a relic in one of the post board games.
when there is an infinite combo you must choose a number you want to stop at; so the player who has infinite damage can choose a higher number and kill you.
i top 8ed the ptq in providence this weekend but didnt have the balls to run the hedron crab tech. how do games play out when you play him turn 1 and also does the downside of him being a dead draw late game outweigh the pros of being able to mill someone out?
so is it a better idea to play p.titan to increase the threat density while removing leyline?
thats what i have been doing. leyline has been very underwhelming for me in the matchups its supposedly good against. you never ever want to draw it after your opening hand and its particularly bad in a deck that only wants to find a specific 8 cards.
scapeshift is infinately better than Pimeval titan.
cheaper and more landfall.
I disagree. primeval titan is decent even when you dont have an omen in play and i have killed people a few times with titan + colonade beats. When you do have omen in play titan and scapeshift serve essentially the same purpose. titan makes up for its higher mana cost with more versatility and i think its worth it.
i was a boy scout as well. and for a few years i slacked off and didn't work on any merit badges. so i was only able to achieve the rank of star. that being said i regret not putting in the effort to become an eagle scout because it opens up many opportunities. becoming an eagle scout is an excellent thing to put on a resume and gains you respect from many people because of its difficulty level. You are so close to it now you might as well put in the extra effort to reach the final goal.
you are actually wrong on both counts. by asking his opponent what he is naming he is implying that the spell resolves. also since the player controlling the bridge from below controls both triggers they can order them on the stack however they want because the creatures went to the graveyard simultaneously.
p1p6 i think piker fits in more decks than tunneler
p2p2 im not sure about cloak but i think you are overvaluing it a little. i would have taken spined wurm here.
p3p1 i would have taken bolt here if you are serious about winning the draft. but things get a little murky if you consider value after the draft.
i dont think straight up land destruction will do the trick. however i do think that a little bit of land disruption with goblin ruinblaster backed up with pressure could do the trick.
right now i am trying a version with necrotic ooze and gigantomancer. it has the capability to be extremely powerful even though it isnt as consistent as i would like.
