Wait a minute. Is there a good reason for the post being delayed till tomorrow, UM?
Tomorrow real time, Az.

Would you consider it likely or unlikely that this game comes with a specialized rules set? Why or why not?
Mind elaborating on what you were going for with this question? It's befuddled me for a while now.

I no longer get why the town refuses to lynch MBP.
I find myself agreeing with this. From what I gather, the thing that got MBP off the hook was that he had the “correct” win condition. (I don't care about the whole “functionally different”-part) However, that had literally been spelled out in the thread, time and time again.

There's probably some different roles and win conditions, but I don't think that there's anything on the plane of a completely different rules set (i.e. a field and moving around or "attacking".) If there was, LFR would've told us.
Emphasis mine.

NO ONE TALK ABOUT THIS QUESTION EXCEPT FOR MBP:
MBP, can you "attack" a player at night?
Just wanted to point out that this trap was null and void, as the answer was already in the thread, mentioned by yourself, and there was no need to have a certain PM, town or otherwise, to find the answer to it.

One of the first things I noticed was Unstable Marionette's vote, in post 6. Some people are going to raise eyebrows at this one, but it's an interesting, subtle pointer.
UM gives reasons for his first two votes, crossing them out each time because they weren't good enough. But third time through, he votes for you, without a reason.
Did he pick your name out of a hat? Doubt it. Inexperienced scum have this unconscious tendency to think voting for their friends is a sign of distancing. Even when it's so-called random.
This... fascinates me.
Az, if you look at who I voted for, you will notice that neither of them are in this game. That was simply me poking some fun at the Blind Mafia, and my poor play there. (For some reason, I think you're already aware of this)
As for pulling his name out of a hat, I obviously didn't do so. The hat mafia is in the other game. The vote wasn't “random”, as I used no method to determine who I wanted to vote for, other than thinking “hey, I want to vote for JodoYodo”.
If you think this was “random distancing”, you are sadly mistaken. Can't do anything to prove it, though.

No one else claiming colorless?
In that case, Jodo seems like a fine lynch to me.
Why have are you no longer believing his claim?
As for my reads on people, after a reread right now:
Town:
Carrion Pigeons
iLord
Cubus
Chimpanzee
Scum:
JodoYodo
Man Bear Pig
The other five players fall somewhere in between.
(the above with the assumption that the mafia doesn't have a town PM, or at least didn't have so at the start of the game)
Off-beat theory: There are no flags, and no way to capture any flags. The whole part about capturing flags is a red herring.
I don't actually think the above is correct, but the idea of having win conditions that are created to mess with the players' heads intrigues me.
Anyway, I'm fine with a Jodo lynch, and as such I will Vote: JodoYodo. Obviously not opposed to Raf hammering.
EBWODP:
I guess it doesn't make sense to say "Are bombs usually town or scum", since I don't know if this role has been in a game before. Instead I should rephrase that as, "are bomb-like retaliatory roles usually town or scum?"
While bombs can certainly be of any alignment, they are typically found on townies (and possibly non-malicious neutrals), seeing as most think that the town shouldn't be punished for doing what it is supposed to do (correctly identifying, lynching and vigging scum).
Flavour reasons?
As a drawback to a powerful role?
To create discussion?
For "fun"?
To give scum (and townies, for that matter) the ability to run a gambit?
To make communication harder?
Also, what consequences should it have to fail to follow a post restriction?
(Assuming one believes the failure is not done on purpose, and in some cases that fair number of warnings have been given)
Modkill?
Take away night actions?
Replacement?
Reducing lynch threshold?
Okay, I checked with LFR. I can say the following paragraph:
I don't believe MBP's Win Con not because the wording is different (This appears to be a nonpoint anyway as several people have confirmed to have similar wording) but because it has a functional difference from my Win Con.
As far as I can comprehend, his win condition is consistent with mine. It's not the same, but I wouldn't go as far as say that it's functionally different.
I'm not sure what to make of it all, though.
Hmmm. A lot of people are using the "I didn't spot it" excuse. I wonder what UM will cook up. Unstable Marionette explain why you didn't say anything about CP's mistake when I pointed it out. Thank you.
Cook up, you say?
Because I had logged off before you posted.
I didn't notice it before you posted it, and by the time I came back to the thread it had already been pointed out by others.
I'm also willing to vote MBP, pending a claim. (I'm not happy with how this came to be (PM-technicalities, I mean), but that is really the mod's responsibility.)
I'd like to see the two of you explain your rationales for supporting the color-claim.
When first reading my PM, I assumed that the game was Reds vs. Blues (where one of the colors were town and the other mafia). During the start of the game, people were discussing the possibility of a cross-color mafia and what this would mean for the CTF win condition. I figured it would be good to get confirmation on whether the town was in both colors (I consider this confirmed now), as well as the possibility of screwing up mafia claims.
I didn't consider the possibility of townies going on a color hunt, since I personally have no interest in playing for an alt win, as long as I don't know how to achieve that win condition.
I can't really say anything about the set-up or game balance, as I can't claim to know much about such.
I really liked my role. It was fun having to catch Shaniqua in a lie (although the blood pretty much gave it away in this case), instead of just getting a straight scum/town answer.
I don't think that we will be able to run Blind games on a regular basis, although one every now and again seems a possibility.
I know that if a new Blind mafia was having sign-ups now, I wouldn't sign up.
Playing this game, and following it after my death, was at times a drag, due to the low level of participation. I certainly was no better than anyone else, needing prodding twice.
I really don't know what could be done to help this. All I can think of would be a stricter enforcement of the 72-hour rule.
It might be interesting to make the (eventual) next Blind game have a rather high power level, to see if that would make people participate more.
Also, in the spirit of Blind games, I think posting under your regular account by mistake should lead to auto-replacement. Or at least a strict warning the first time, and replacement if it happens again.
I really liked the crime novelesque flavour, I must say.
I screwed up when coming out, didn't I?
I probably shouldn't have come out at all, but at that time I was afraid of the game just randomly dying.
Also, I overestimated how much credibility I would gain simply from being able to pin Shaniqua down as a killer.
Sorry about that.
My first time as cop, though. Hopefully I'll do better next time.
And here's my PM from the second night, with my thoughts at the time in bold.
Quote from Second night PM »
That Buttercup character seems mighty suspicious! After having exposed Shaniqua, you feel confident that you're going to bag yourself another scum. That means I hit scum, right?
But alas, it's not to be. Before you even make it five feet from your room, you get jumped from behind. You struggle and land a few hits, but he eventually overpowers you, and everything goes black. Roleblocked, no surprise.
You find yourself being woken up later by someone else, but your mind is still too hazy to make sense of what's going on. All you know is that moments later, you feel yourself getting beat up *yet again*, but this time it ends with an eternal darkness. What a way to die. Vigged?! I'm baffled!
Tomorrow real time, Az.

You are most kind to bring your thoughts forward.
Unvote, seeing as I'm still on JY...
