Whip of Erebos won every game it came out at my prerelease. No seriously, me and my friend opened it, only ones to get it, and we both made it to the finals and I 2-0'd him because he couldn't find his at all either game. The card is reDONKulous. I mean, the 2B 2/3 minotaur wasn't that great, UNTIL it had lifelink. Giving your monstrosity guys lifelink, like the Nemesis of Mortals or really anything, was just the sickest. With it, Abhorrent Overlord and the 2B 2/2 that gives haste and intimidate equal to devotion to black, I won the tourney.
I need that **** in foil for every black EDH deck ever now.
Control decks like them definitely, considering a turn 1 cipt land that scry 1's will feel good on turn 1 since you probably aren't doing anything else that early.
Aggro decks might feel this be useful later on, making sure they aren't any MORE lands that late in the game.
So it can see play in any deck more than 1 color I think. Shame they are rare though. Feel more uncommon than anything. But I don't know how "good" scry 1 is on a cipt land, so it feels like I will have to test this in my UB control deck.
For the power level of this card, yes I believe that the "drawback" of requiring you to have a mountain in play to use this is perfectly fine. 1 mana removal spell is STILL strong, and it doesn't give your opponent life/land/etc. Sure you need both a mountain AND a white source, but luckily those BOTH exist in Sacred Foundry, and with the many shocks in RTR currently, I don't think it is much of a drawback. Yes, it 'is' one, but not one I would complain about.
Doubling Season can be a great card to build around, especially pack 1 pick 1. From there you can force green Thallids or general tokens, and it usually makes it turn out well. You can get to the point where with Sporoloth Ancient you can make 2 1/1 Saps a turn, just by having both out, and that isn't counting any other common thallids you would have at that point. Worm Harvest gets crazier, and so does Reach of Branches. You can also make any modular or sunburst creatures much more playable, Cloudgoat Ranger, Feudkiller's Verdict and Meadowboon are good white splash cards for it.
You can't really go wrong with it, you can easily force it into your favor, if you get it early enough.
If they wanted to change clone from being a kill spell, they could have altered clone ability maybe to where copies on opponent's side of the field don't affect your opponent via legendary rule, or something like that.
Now that I am done looking at why this would change tha game, flavorwise, this is just pants on head stupid. Just stupid.
I don't care where they came from, where did they get the idea that this new art would be appealing?
I mean sure alien vs predator jokes aside, why are slivers now humanoid-esque? Why are they all metallic/robotic... I don't know why they look straight out of Mirrodin.
I don't get it WotC. Explain it to me. Why/how/when did the brood get like....this?
I hope they just start reprinting these versions of these 5 planeswalkers.
Like they don't need 5 new jace/garruk/lili/ajani/chandra EVERY year do they? They are KILLING design space for new walkers too.
Just bring back the lorwyn versions. None of them were overpowered/underpowered, each had their own specific uses and each was useful. No need to bring in a new cycle EVERY year.
Mayael, Kraj, and Azami are probably the best abusers I have seen besides Krenko though.
I recommend Krenko, it gets INSANE. You turn into a target that can pump out more threats than a whole table might be able to get rid of. I really should get around to posting my decklist >.<
It has an outstanding value at right around $30, and with a VERY big abundance of rares. Feels like the deck is good for new-ish players that like UW.
I play with a lot of casual players, and they will EAT this up.

Still hoping for <2 mana cost.

You don't know how excited I am that I can do that.
Thank you dude, seriously. This makes me all the more excited to draft this saturday with less regret.
I think Sharuum still works under this, you just sac the original, ability goes off, it brings it back, yeah it still works.

How will this balance out in limited? Enough printed to where its a thing, or too less to where its just an afterthought?
Either way, GLAD TO SEE IT BACK
