They will DONKEYJACK you if you go to the post office. Those tellers are nothing but sleezy used car salesmen, who try to confuse you with services you don't need and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they get commission. It's a disgrace that the united States post office has to resort to such low levels to scam money from the naive but hey, who isn't scamming you nowadays.
Your best bet is getting a 10x jewelers loupe and checking for print design on the card as well as the blue line on the edge of the card.
Luckily I work as a quality inspector in medical device manufacturing. I have a CMM program to measure the length and width of a card down to the millionth. I also have optical comparitors and 35x magnification lens.
I have bought power before and I've never seen a fake yet.
Also I've noticed recently there has been a rash of proxy cards on eBay in the past couple of months.
And yes, you should definitely get a DQ. Not because of the morality of playing with fake cards vs. Real cards. But because everyone else has real cards and you should not be entitled to playing with anything different. Glad they caught him.
Black vise was so powerful during revised for a couple of reasons.
First it is a one casting cost artifact so v just about every deck was running four copies no matter what. You didn't have an enormous pool of cards to make a deck. Just one core set and a couple awful expansions. If you were playing green you were running 4 birds of paradise. It you were running black you had 4 dark rituals. Ect.
Second, it totally shut down counter spell decks. You didn't have to do anything except play a couple vises and pass all your turns and watch as your opponent start countering his own spells in a desperate attempt to get cards out of their hands before losing.
Also, the premier turn one kill decks were library draw with braingyser and all you had to do was make opponent draw up 30 cards and drop a vise. Remember this was way before force of will.
Most importantly it turned casual games unfun.
You: turn 1 land, Sol ring, 2 black vises.
Opponent: takes 6 damage. Plays land and says go.
You: nothing.

You: nothing.
Opponent: takes 6 damage is down to 2. Lol.
If you played at all during that time it wasn't about lightning bolts, creatures, or infinite turns. It was about Braingyser and milling 53 cards on turn one. Was like that until a couple years after force of will got printed because people didn't want to read that huge block text on the card. Lol.
Most of the stores I have been at so not have prices marked on their cards. It's not because they are lazy, it's because magic cards can shoot up overnight and they would have to update their prices daily.
