Tagging these players as villains is absurd and preposterous. If you don't like competitive play and think we're all cut-throat bastards, then dont play. Don't mark us as heartless bastards, and assume you're the best people in the game just because you play Vizzerdrix Highlander Rainbow Pauper with your buddies. Liking or disliking a format/style of play/level of competitiveness ir one play, having a bad preconceived notion about people who play at a more competitive level is just wrong and stupid.

Haha, taking it a little hard are we?

I learned the same lessons when I played a pro once at the winter kings a few years back. This is exactly why my advise to all my friends is to A)always have your Judge yell at the ready, B) to take as much time as you need to inspect the results of your play. Don't let your opponent dictate the tempo of your game. Lastly, don't let some guy who has more time/money to play a collectable card game beat you simply because he has a name.

I for one prefer my Vizzerdrix Highlander Rainbow Pauper formats. It's the way the game was meant to be played.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Krenko, Mob Boss could, in theory, be better (and possibly more competitive) than Wort, Boggart Auntie. Sure, Wort gives you a second color, and some long term bonuses in the form of recursion, but Krenko, if built right, gives you the advantage of pure speed. Haste becomes essential, and big damage effects like Burn at the Stake, Goblin War Strike, Voracious Dragon, and even Predator Dragon become your bread and butter. Plus, with that many guys out, Warp World looks MIGHTY attractive. And sure, the deck dies to sweepers, but really you're going to be tossing out three or so utility guys (some of whom will make tokens) and Krenko, and just spamming tokens from there.

I just think it has potential to be built into something obscenely fast, and thus it could be slightly better over Wort. Could I be wrong? Most definitely. But playing one color gives you access to things like Extraplanar Lens, Gauntlet of Power, and Caged Sun, while playing mono R gives you access to disruption like Ruination and Wake of Destruction. I think churning out a bunch of dudes and then nuking lands makes for a powerful board state. I intend to build him, so if this works out, I'll let you know.

    This...

The problem is Wort and Krenko are completely different cards. Wort is a more controlling mid-range type card that is better suited for multi-player, and Krenko is crazy aggro. My friend already has a fully operational Krenko deck and it killed me by turn 6 quite often in 1 vs 1 EDH (not my bread and butter). The deck is silly good, and fully utilizes goblin sac outlets such as Goblin Chirurgeon and Skirk Prospector, infinite combo with thornbite staff, and mass damage enabler with cards likeGoblin Bombardment/Boggart Shenanigans. Sure you can recur in black, but if your opponent is dead then who needs recursion. I for one am building a Krenko deck.

I feel the need to point out the article Cavern of Souls was spoiled in. Does anybody else think it is ridiculous that Wizards is printing the obligatory "we messed up therefore we had to print something to keep it in check article"? I mean, yes standard is popular and all, but it is becoming increasingly obvious that Wizards just does not care anymore about the older formats. Hence the we don't really think new cards and old cards should not mix attitude Wizards seems to present in that article (Hint: we don't actually playtest). Sorry for the rant, but it had to be said.

As an Angel collector I feel like they are fattening me up for the slaughter that is about to occur on my wallet. However, I am quite happy to see my favorite tribe get some love.

As per the zombie hosing angel... I gotta say that I called that one a good month ago or so. I was at my shop and some guy had just finished his Grimgrin EDH deck and I asked him why he did that when it was perfectly obvious that wizards was going to print a "Zombies lose card in AVR". Haha, aww Wizards I know thee well. Cool

LOL, and what is with the people who apparently hard cast Decree of Justice for the Angels. I only though you did that in Tron?!?! Come to think of it, I don't think I have ever not cycled Decree of Justice...

Love Kaalia. Lets me use my angels and dragons in the same deck, when before they never really worked as separate decks.

True, she doesn't need much help. (Don't really care about standard :p lol)

Yup lol. But I wouldn't mind rebuilding a 60/4 angel deck.

While I could do mono angels, her ability specifies three tribes, so I try to be a purist and run all three tribes. I'd rather have a separate WB angel for mono angels.

Everyone, lol: What I meant by not working for Kaalia or w/e is that she specifies three tribes, so I use the three tribes. I'm a purist.

I am right there with you, but I must say that what I am really waiting for is a 5 color angel legend. Of all the tribes in magic that *should have a five color legend you would think Angels would be a sure thing. There is already an angel that has all colors, and I am not sure why wizards hasn't given us one...

As per this lord of sorts, I like her. Just another angel in wait for that 5 color EDH deck.

never said he wasn't awesome to the max, just doubt he's going to be ban worthy. I'm more worried about time walk part two:the miracle to be honest.

To be honest I think your fears are overstated...at least for EDH. In EDH it is actually quite balanced since it removes itself from the game once it has been played. Personally, I would much rather run Time warp or Time Stretch (the latter which is almost too good in this format.) It would be much more broken, if like these cards, it could be regrown or Snapcastered back again. Not saying its a bad card but in EDH it is merely another time walk effect for decks like Jhoira.

I like the demon, but the cost is very inhibitive. People are going to have to accel into him if they want him as their general.

My favorite card so far (by far) is Sigarda, Host of Herons. She is a beastly general. IMO. And my Malfegor deck pretty much hates her for life.

I am really disappointed. Why PtE? Why not an alt art Momentary Blink? I mean Path is cool and all, but come on, the Rebecca Guay Path is much cooler looking anyway. Also, I would like to know from somebody at Wizards why Mulldrifter is not just automatic in this deck...oh wait, that is because Koth/red just loses then.

I am pumped, but the transition from Liliana and Avacyn was a bit too cheesy. Also, I love the fact that Werewolves apparently are just lap dogs for the Angels.

Sphinx of Uthuun is my replacement should Consecrated Sphinx ever become banned. I understand some of the arguments for the other contenders and whatnot, but I believe it is pretty much a fact to say that Fact or Fiction is one of the best card drawing spells ever printed (especially in EDH), and for me it is simply hard to argue with the 5/6 flying body that comes with it.

Strictly speaking, I realize Consecrated Sphinx is sub-optimal in Bant-Blink decks, but he is some kind of crazy when it comes to his presence on the table. While I would be lying to say that he has never bitten me in the behind before, it would also be lying to say that he is not just the sexiest piece of card advantage producing cardboard I have ever witnessed (and hopefully for the health of the format and the game will ever witness). He is a card that if he sticks on the board then you probably just won the game regardless of how many other players there were. I do not think there are many non-general cards I can say that about off the top of my head with possibly the exception of select Eldrazi, Blightsteel Colossus, Prime-time, and perhaps to a lesser extent Sun Titan. He is that good...and probably should only be taken out as a matter of last resort. Hope this helps!:)

Thrice as powerful as a bunch of humans? XDDDDDD
With what? Please tell me. With what when she would have no elves to help her on Innistrad, making most of her powers useless.

Innistrad is not a plane for naive morons...she would not last an hour there.

And I honestly doubt that enraged Garruk or Lili would even care about her and need any excuse to kill her Smile

While I understand the hate for Nissa (she seems to be the least favorite walker printed so far.) I think it is a little off topic to start bashing other people's opinions, and also counterproductive.

I think that Nissa *could* show up on this plane, and it would be nice to see a more useful side of her (in terms of actually being able to use her abilities in any deck). There is no real reason (aside from just hating the character) to believe otherwise. A planeswalker that can only use magic when elves are around is a pretty useless planeswalker. Furthermore, to suggest the cards themselves represent every ability a planeswalker has is wrong.

I personally have a gut feeling either Gideon 2.0 or Ajani 3.0 is coming with a healthy dose of Green added into either of their mana symbols.

@Barinellos: Sure green is not the font of mechanics, but that is why you add another color!! I for one am sick of Garruk and maybe Sarkhan 1.0 being the only real contributors for Green. I mean, look at white... Ajani, Elspeth, and Gideon?!

Wasn't Karn created by Urza? so creations of planeswalkers can become planeswalkers.

Except that he only became a Planeswalker because it was Urza's spark. So unless there is another spark donation it seems unlikely.

I personally am a bit biased as I need her to be an Angel Legend at least and maybe/hopefully a 5 color one at that so I can finally have a 5 color Commander. So I hope she is not a Planeswalker.

I'm certainly not going to be saying any more about the source of this information than has already been revealed. If anyone chooses to believe this rumor isn't reliable, that's fine. I can't make you. I'm definitely not going to potentially jeopardize someone's career just to appease skeptics.

Ha, interesting... Well, I suppose that is enough for me to confirm this is a real rumor here and I'm not just supposed to take someones word for it.

    Thanks for that bit.

Once again, it's a BRAND NEW character that was designed by the artist, who is not Scott Fischer (the guy that did Kiora's art.)
I'm... I'm stumped why people can't understand that.

Granted I have only scanned this thread, but I have not seen any mention of this.... I only saw on the opening page that there would be a completely new walker. If you could point this out in this thread it would be great of you.

As for the concept of a completely new character. You are forgetting the fact that this card was already probably 'designed' in some form or the other last summer or fall. So there is a very real possibility that we have already seen the card. If it is not the artist who designed Kiora then it can only be Mr. Fayden or Ral.

He specified that they already had PLANESWALKER cards.* Not just cards. Venser had his shaper savant card and Karn had his Silver Golem card, but those weren't walker cards.

*He was very careful to specify this.

@DXI: We haven't seen Garruk's spark ignite. The Wild Son just covered how he got his helmet, nothing about his ascension. Meanwhile, we actually DO know how Sarkhan ascended, as that was told to us during his debut.

Meanwhile, what part of "A brand new, from scratch, never before seen walker" fails to come clear. It's not just a walker who hasn't had a card, it's an entirely new character. Kiora is not a new character, she already existed and already had art. The new walker was designed BY the artist himself, and it isn't Scott Fischer.

Caveat: This isn't to say it's impossible for Kiora to be in AVR. But she wouldn't be the walker we KNOW is 100% new. So it's either Kiora + New Walker, or Not Kiora + New Walker.

Thanks for correcting me on the Venser thing. I was not aware that he specified that it was an already existing planeswalker. Although I doubt that this will be answered in AVR. I personally think it will either be Nissa or Gideon, perhaps maybe even Ajani, who will be the already seen walker for the third set. Garruk would be interesting, but awkward since there would be 3 versions of him floating around in Standard for quite a while before rotations. I prefer to think a white walker since AVR seems to a very Angelic (White) sounding set.

As for your argument about Kiora... I would have to say that this make little sense to me. While it is true that anybody who played the video game, or saw the spoilers about the game may know of her existence that is a far cry from actually having a planeswalker card. Because she does not have an actual card she therefore is technically 'new'. Sorry if you were hoping for a new character...
