Can we avoid youtube links in the future in favor of text lists, or at least links to text lists? Slogging through a video really blows. Not even an option when working either.

I put another link on top didn’t you see it?

MTGgoldfish is working on the text versions

Clearly no, which means the post couldve been formatted better.

Ive also seen a general uptick in spoiler posts that just link to a video on another site with links, texts, and pictures added much later - or sometimes not at all with another poster adding them further down the thread.

It makes spoilers more tedious than they have been in the past, and sometimes downright frustrating as people start the conversation but you have no idea what theyre on about
I don’t know, how would you format it? Repeat the same link 5 times under each deck list?

Think about what "counter" actually means and think about its past context in the game. There was a reason why designers stayed away from creating a flying "counter" until this set. Like I mentioned elsewhere, WotC should have called these non-stackable abilities anything but a counter.

*shrug* I don't really understand all the *****ing about keyword counters. None of those abilities have ever stacked. Why would they suddenly stack now? And bonus, they're completely opt in! You don't have to use them if you don't want to! And if you are going to take 2 minutes to get your hands on some of the punch outs. I'm sure LGS's (when they're finally back open) will have plenty that they'd be willing to give you. I bet if you order a card online and put in the notes field that you'd like one of those they'd throw it in. You just sound like a bunch of Boomers. "It's not the way I've always done it so it's bad!"
Agreed. Mtg already has a billion different kinds of counters, I don’t see how adding a few more is going to ruin the game.

Those basic lands are ******* amazing looking... can't believe you only get one of each for ******* $30
They're snow lands. It's on par with how much you'd be spending on the open market, if not a bit less.

Yeah, they probably should have banned the cards that were banned in standard like they did when modern first came out, like Aetherworks marvel and Emrakul, the promised end.
And deal with the same outrage that occurred when they did the same for Modern? They made the right call.

Like the lips in the background. Don't care for the rings of lips surrounding her. As for the actual card, an interesting hatebear to be sure, have to see if it's relevant to what ends up being popular though.

I thought red wasn't suppose to get card draw without a downside?
Every color occasionally gets cantrips which is all this is.

Aaannnd to all the haters out there who shot down my comments of "Will there ever be a Serra Planeswalker, bon appetite; today's soup of the day is crow, served fresh and hot.

But in all seriousness, this is going to be an exciting set. I hope there are more new cards than reprints... don't get me wrong, I imagine there will be some greatly needed reprints of cards that haven't be reprinted, BUT... I do hope new cards outshine the reprints. And here's to hoping this helps keep Modern alive, as a remember a while back there was talks of Modern events being pushed to the side.

There are more new cards than reprints

There’s only 5 in the whole set and on top of that the reprints must be pre 8th edition or from commander/conspiracy/battlebond sets

And early magic said they have a plan for oubliette this might be it

what? there are definitely going to be more than 5 total reprints. they just arent going to be currently modern-legal.

perhaps you are confusing the 5 reprints with the basic lands?

It said there’s 249 new cards and there’s 254 total my lad
Those are the 5 basic lands they're talking about.

Now that's something I didn't take into account. Eventually Arena might need its own Eternal format, so that people can have something to do with their rotating cards.

Merging accounts is something that could be an idea. But again, I know next to nothing about computer software/online accounts or the like so I don't feel like I can talk about how much work that would be or how to go about it. I can say that would be interesting or cool
They've already stated that they're going to create a new non-rotating format when rotation happens, so as people who play Arena have a way to use their cards that rotate.

Cutting down for space, but this is exactly it and as I went through the 'stages of grief' over the 4 Top 8 KCI slots.

    1. This is outrageous, we need a ban!
    2. Wait, what would a ban even do?
    3. Wait, is 1 ban enough?
    4. I dont think its even close to enough.
    5. We need to ban 6+ cards.

As long as Terminus Lotto is required for 'Control' to live, true fair midrange, is dead.
As long as decks are throwing up on the table for 10+ damage on turn 2, Terminus Lotto, is required.

In the middle, you have decks that run from Burn, to Dredge, to KCI, to Tron, and there is nothing that can even remotely compete with all of them, and the 2 poles (Terminus and Looting) of the format.

I know what I believe the answer to be, but people refuse to think about it logically.
Do you really think the format would survive 6+ bans though? That's a hard pill to swallow for a lot of people.

The loudest voices have been screaming for Ancient Stirrings and Faithless Looting to be banned, and Stoneforge Mystic and Splinter Twin to be unbanned. I think the fact that Phoenix decks are still pretty new and the fact that they use a card from the newest set is going to spare it from at least this next banlist announcement. The calls for Looting to be banned is pretty new and not nearly as noisy, so I don't expect that either. I do expect Ancient Stirrings to eat a ban at this point, even if it isn't the right ban for KCI, because of the length of time people have been asking for it to be banned, and this latest GP finish with KCI gives Wizards the excuse to finally do so. If not Stirrings, I still expect some form of KCI ban next banlist announcement,it just has too much going against it at this point. I also think to balance that ban out, we will see an unban, at least of Stoneforge Mystic, as it's had the most calls for an unban, and is the safest choice. I unfortunately don't think it will do much for the format. Splinter Twin could go either way, it's probably the most contentious card on the list. I personally think it would be fine at this point to unban, but I know there are a lot of people out there who have very negative feelings towards Twin for some reason.

The worst possible outcome is no changes. If that ends up being the case, the correct move is probably to invest in standard now and prepare for whatever the next non-rotating format ends up being, because no changes indicates to me they've given up on the format.

I have been playing mono U variant without Snapcaster Mage and no Jace and have a decent win rate.

The last local 3 local tournaments I took this to, I went 3-0-1(I was 3 turns away from winning Frown ), 3-1, and 2-2, so I manage to do reasonably well.

I've had plenty of success in my local meta with this list. I regularly 3-1-0, and 3-0-1, with it, and sometimes pull 4-0-0. It has developed quite the local rep, I often hear regular opponents chide new players to "have fun not playing magic this round".

I tested many variants but ive been pushed toward this list because:
Id rather not have to pay 2 extra mana for it - so no Snapcaster
Win Conditions MUST COST 3 MANA OR LESS so we dont expose ourselves after turn 3 - so no Mind Sculptor

Im usually on here ranting about how powerful the white sideboard is, but this time I'm just pointing out you can have a plenty powerful list without the Mind Scuptor, and without Snapcater.

Thank you guys, I will give some test and work with those decklists, I hope to give you guys a return later.
If you have any questions feel free to ask. Best of luck!

Jace isn't necessary but he is very good. We ran the deck without jace for quite some time, so there should be some reasonable lists around which operate without jace. Just checking as well; you are running snapcaster, right? I'd argue that snappy is more necessary than jace.

I agree with Purkle that Jace isn't necessary, and Snapcaster is more important. You can still run lists with few or no Jace/Snapcasters, just understand that they'll play slightly worse than lists with those cards.

I am starting to play modern with this 'new' mono Ux living end deck. It has a lot of blue spells and I think that blue spells are what I like to play in modern. I would like to try one version of taking turns without either Jace and Snapcaster because I cannot afford to buy those cards. It is sad but invest in those cards are a big thing, a set of Snapcasters could buy another deck. Sorry to bring this up.

That's why I asked if there is a list without those cards that is powerful enought to have some fun playing. To be fully transparent it is not necessary to have a great win rate, I just like to have some playing, always felling that I have a lot of answers and options and this will decide if I will win of not (that's why I love blue).
I have been playing mono U variant without Snapcaster Mage and no Jace and have a decent win rate. This is my list if it interests you:

I'm in the middle of overhauling the sideboard, but I'm fairly happy with the mainboard. The landbase is just for insurance against boil/choke, you can easily get away with replacing most of the expensive lands with islands. The only lands that are necessary are the Mikokoro, Center of the Sea and the Inkmoth Nexus. The last local 3 local tournaments I took this to, I went 3-0-1(I was 3 turns away from winning Frown ), 3-1, and 2-2, so I manage to do reasonably well.
