What if MaRo means something to reduce Mana Screw?
I mean, I think it happens slightly too often in competitive. In a 5-round bracket or Swiss - the toy little things you have at FNMs - it's too probable that someone there is just going to get beaten up by his own lands. Not seeing them at all (despite vigilant mulliganing) or seeing too many.
I can't imagine the dread that a player going into a multi-day Qualifier event must feel, practically being guaranteed a spar with the extrema of the binomial distribution (O fickle entity! O wicked shape!) at some point that weekend.
The issue is that the number "60" and the curve of the game - centering at 3-4 mana, you'd have to say - already fixes* these issues to where they are. It's a little off from ideal, even if you think randomness adds to the game, and perhaps something can fix it. Obviously, if the 60 could be changed, this could get better, but maybe there's something with lands that WWK can do.
*I mean the mathematical notion of 'fix'. This isn't the first time I've had to just bite this terminological collision. Stupid English.
Or maybe it's nowhere near that epic. Time will tell.
I think get rid of mana flood/screw the whole game needs to change. Im sure, they´ll never do that.
If they do, id do it like:
Rules change:
You start with 2 libraries. One contains all "land" cards. One the rest. Together they have to be 60. Whenever you draw a card u may choose from which library u draw.
Hi,
im currently playing magic only on mws. since this programm crashes very often and the shuffle-engine is so stupid, ill quit it asap.
now i heared the shuffler in mtgo is almost the same? has it become fixed?
i mean like getting either screwed or flood and everytime 3 of 4 cards and none of the others
why isnt mws published as open source?
im mean the cllient is great for a beta version, but thats it.
it crashes all the time and the shuffleengine is so stupid, its almost useless to test decks there.
is there anything better out there? (working with pics/scans of the cards)
Somehow i dont trust this whole octgm thing. banhammer spammed all big mtg forums with this post and the download is really not trustworthy
i will not try this program unless i see more users speaking about it.
Sarcasm aside, legacy elves don't need this guy since they hardly rely on lands for mana anyway. Hell, even elf combo in t2 likely wouldn't use this guy.
The other big thing in the video games vs. Magic argument is:
Alot of people, like me, try to find 1-2 games and play them for months, even years. Buying a copy of Oblivion, for example, costs someone $50 or something, and he can get hours and hours of pleasure out of it. Same goes for World of Warcraft, except you pay $10 a month for it, which less than 3 packs of Magic a month.
Obviously there is the cost of the computer, and the internet connection, but you'll be paying for those regardless, because they are necessary parts of life in the 21st century.
So you have to ask yourself, why should I dump $200+ a month into Magic when I can dump $50 into a game once, and play it for several months if it's interesting enough?
Well, just switch to Legacy. Most of the decks exist for years now, with little tweaks here and there. Its the cheapest format to play and your cards arent losing their value after a few months.
No

ill win without the spike, cuz he cant play the ball
but i think the snake is hyped. only few decks are able to use it. what to do with hundreds of mana, if u cannot find ur beater/finisher
