Been trying out the 24 lands in the mono white build and I think I'm gonna stick to that number. Hitting my 4th land drop pretty consistently. The sideboard seems like we can customize it fairly easily to have fair game vs most decks. Pithing Needle , Nevermore, Celestial Purge all seem like they can do some heavy work. In addition to that, Ghost Quarter + SB Surgical Extraction is pretty backbreaking. I'll try out the deck with more prison type elements to see how much game it has. Also red splash seems like it could be cool but wouldn't do it just for land destruction.

What is the correct ratio of Weathered Wayfarer and lands in this deck. I'm currently running 23 lands with 0 copies of Wayfarer and am constantly finding myself hungry for more lands. Is this normal?
With all due respect to Nikachu_, He only had it on camera for what 4 games? 5 games? I would HARDLY call that an acceptable sample size. This is exactly my point. How many people in the community ACTUALLY tested Visions out to come to this conclusion? Seems like most people just wrote it off without testing. If the majority of people ACTUALLY played with it and came to that conclusion then fair enough. No arguing with actual results. I'm not even saying that it does belong in Merfolk. I'm just saying it's going to take atleast myself quite a few more games before I come to a conclusion whether it's playable or not. It's going to take more than 4-5 games for a proper assessment. There is more than 1 way to build a successful merfolk deck. That should apparent by diversity in the lists that are placing well.
Because Redirect is such a heavily used card........ tapping out main phase turn 4 to draw cards is not a great strategy for this deck. Concentrate is better than Vision in very few situations. Especially in Merfolk.
When it has an effect as powerful as draw 3 cards for 1 mana, of course people are going to give it consideration. People have had access to test out Cryptic Command in the format for a quite some time before coming to a conclusion. It's been barely a month that people have been able to try this card out so I fail to see how it's obvious whether it fits our deck or not. Being written off far too early without even being tested IMO.
I've been going 2-2 at best at my local store for the past few events, been feeling the pressure of these fast decks and combo decks. The shoal list is interesting but $10 each to try out a card...I'm very skeptical. I can see the applications, but I'm just glad people are moving away from the $50 Concentrate
Most people never even gave it a fair shot. Let's be fair here......
Crucible of Worlds would have been even better. I knew my lands were going to get blown so I held some in my hand. Even with my lands getting nuked I almost came back to win. That 1 land from Flagstones of Trokair would have let me finish off the opponent. I'm still pretty sour from that loss.
The thirst for Flagstones of Trokair just got real. I played against 2 different UWR control decks tonight and all my lands got nuked tonight against both players ...... Ajani Vengeant did work. Both matches went to time but Squadron Hawk was going all the way if I had another few minutes in each match.
In the matches I've had so far, it hasn't done very much at all. In fact I think I've only activated it once or twice before. I do find that this deck is very mana hungry though. I can see how it would interfere with the overall gameplan. I'll end of taking it out for another basic until I get my flagstones. I only put it in there because it seemed like it could potentially help with Squadron Hawk beatings =). Is Divinity of Pride garbage in this deck? there is big tournament tomorrow and I want to play this deck but don't think I can get any of Sun Titan , Baneslayer Angel , or Elspeth, Sun's Champion by the time it starts so I was considering potentially running this card instead.
Overall this looks like a neat list. As you said, a playset of Flagstones of Trokair certainly wouldn't hurt there, and also Crucible of Worlds is an option, but in conclusion the deck could work like this.
The Sideboard is an absolute disaster I know, it's more or less just filler until I get a good grasp of the interactions of this deck. What Matchups are good and bad etc. Any glaring errors with a first draft at the deck though anybody?
I have always wanted to play this deck as I've been a fan since I first saw a version in 2006 Worlds. I have pretty much all the cards needed to atleast start out with mono white version. How essential is Ghostly Prison and Flagstones of Trokair to the deck? Also is Spectral Procession a worthy substitute in place of Lingering Souls in the Mono white build?
Hey, all. Went to an event last night, and had a pretty good showing (3-1). I've definitely had a blast with the deck over the last few months. However, there's one player at the venue I've been frequenting that I always seem to face when I'm 3-0, and who always plays RG Tron. I've never beaten him, and I think last night was the first game I managed to take off him. Do we have any real shot against RG Tron other than hoping for a super explosive start? (My one win was due to him not having a great start and me landing several lords, and double-Cursecatching a Pyroclasm.) Would Uw Merfolk have an easier time? I've come up against a few CoCo/Living End decks recently, so I've been considering the White splash for RiP. Path also helps deal (more permanently) with several post-board Tron threats, like Newlamog/Platinum Emperion/Wurmcoil. Should I start mainboarding Tec Edges? Any other players have any good strategies/advice for that one persistent Tron player? (As far as I can tell there's maybe one other person who plays RG Tron, and I don't seem him there every week.) Do I just accept that when I have to play him I'm probably picking up a loss?
I guess I should probably throw my single Chalice in the board, as it walls Living End pretty single-handedly.
I play UW merfolk but haven't come up against tron really at all lately. Rest in Peace and Path to Exile are an absolute beating in every match I've played them pretty much. Most notably Abzan,Jund,Kiki Chord, UWR Control.

How many copies did you run and what kind of decks were you playing against?

This build is Mono White or else I would use Extirpate instead. Yeah, I'm not sure I need a full set of Proclamation of Rebirth aswell, Sun Titan seems like a nice finisher in addition with the recursion synergy it has with the deck. Godsend I'm not even sure will work well. I'll test with it and see how it performs. Would another finisher work instead of Sword of Light and Shadow? maybe an Elspeth, Sun's Champion or Baneslayer Angel?
My first attempt at a build
15 Plains
2 Emeria, the Sky Ruin
2 Mistveil Plains
4 Ghost Quarter
1 Pendelhaven

4 Martyr of Sands
4 Serra Ascendant
4 Ranger of Eos
4 Squadron Hawk
1 Kami of False Hope
4 Wrath of God
4 Path to Exile
1 Oblivion Ring
1 Banishing Light
4 Proclamation of Rebirth
1 Godsend
1 Gideon Jura
3 Ghostly Prison
3 Nevermore
2 Leyline of Sanctity
