Nov 27, 2018Stoogeslap posted a message on The Twelfth Annual MTGS Holiday Card Exchange! This has been a lot of fun each year that I have participated. I'd like to re-emphasize a point: please make sure you chose a nice, playable card. As silly as Vizzerdrix is, this over-costed vanilla blue dude is not playable, no matter how much you dress him up as Santa. I am not naming names, but I have gotten some really meh cards in the past that are still collecting cob webs in my binder. The card(s) do not necessarily need to be valuable, but at the least playable. You know how stokes I would be if I got a Sign in Blood that is pimped out.Posted in: Articles
Also (luckily I haven't seen this), please do not decorate HP or damaged cards. All the gorgeous artwork isn't going to make up for a crease from being bent in half or cover up the hole marks when your dog bit your Lightning Bolt.
Please do not cover up the text box w/ art or anything else. We will have seasoned players as well as the novice players (possibly) participating. Most of us know how Counterspell or Swords to Plowshares works, but some newer players who might be starting off w/ Standard may not know these cards, no matter how classic they are.
And lastly, this is important too, please takes photos of your cards before sending out because not everyone will post scans of what they got. I made this mistake last year and the lucky geek who got my alters still hasn't posted them (if you are reading this, it's never too late, lol).
Look forward to a lot (I hope) of participants. Let's make this the best Holiday Card Exchange the best one yet!!!

- Custom titles for the "archmage overlords" have been snipped to 30 characters or less and (to my experience), cannot have a color outside of black.
- Where did the itrader go? I used that a lot... needs to come back. I found something similar, but it asks for "one card" I am looking for. itrader could search up to 10 cards.
- The "curse premium" ad on the top... do not like to see a reminder about a service with a fee that doesn't add much to this particular site
- Thread that have new posts are no longer bolded... the bolded look gave a visual clue to new posts in the thread that I (the current user) has not seen.
- So far, there's not area/section at the bottom of a thread listing the members and guests reading/reviewing the thread.
- The fonts are too light (for the light skin). I'd like to see the fonts darken up a bit for easiness to read. The fonts are too thin as a whole, which makes the black appear dark gray.
- The "would you still like to leave this site..." Y/N bubble when going to a linked site. It is unnecessary.
- So far an image has to be really tiny to upload... a 16.2kb jpeg was "too big" to upload... what gives? -
Feb 4, 2014Stoogeslap posted a message on Launch Giveaway! My favorite card is Sensei's Divining Top... just being able to see what's coming to anticipate the new few moves is a big help. I actually played it a few nights ago in a casual game verses my girlfriend, and she actually voiced that she didn't like the card. She knew right away the edge it was giving me... and she's a new player!Posted in: Announcements

The French themselves have a beautiful language, but when "Babel Fish" from Yahoo translates what is being discussed in the French forums, the onlything one can do is bust out a laugh.
An example of how Babel does a poor job translating:
Noggle Hedge-Magus: very constraining, but in a UR ultraggro that can do it: in the first turns I stuff with my 2/1 per 1, kelde, unstable change & Co, turn 4 that, I puts 2 and 2 animals cannot block, turn 5 one finishes with the flame Javelin, psionic blast or other shard volleyball + the small additional sauce phase…
But it probably misses a good truth biland to optimize it, because to have 2 mountains and 2 islands out of turn 4, it is not obvious…
Springjack Shepard: it's a pity that it is white… in black or red it would have had its place very found das the maximum-tokens/furystoke play giant…
Edge off the Divinity: unstable change in almost better…
Wicker-Bough Elder: commune moreover, miam!
Cinder Pyromancer: gelectrode in monocolore, which does not manage the animals but functions with all the red fates: that still will make jeus weak and not competitive in combale with the blast tracking
Now tell me that isn't so befuddled and confusing that you don't at least snicker at it.
Well, tell me, is it also a riot, or am I just being immature? If I am being immature then I know you are, but what am I? Infinite...

The name originally referred to a specific folkloric character Robin Goodfellow but has grown to be defined as a different species of goblin or fairy. The name originally referred to a specific folkloric character Robin Goodfellow but has grown to be defined as a different species of goblin or fairy.
Key words : Different species.
Why not introduce them as a new race? Hags got to be a race (yes, I know they were technically already a race, being that there were 2 hags in the past {one from Legends and another from The Dark}).
Not a sliver, but a mythical folklore beast another had mentioned that has only one arm and one leg, just cannot think of its name.
I am guessing that the ugly faerie may just be what I said a few weeks ago about hybrid creature types. It looks very faerie/goblin combo-ish.
I'm not talking about sideboard, or a "wish" card or the Ring of Ma-ruf, I mean cards that have been removed from the game durring the game, like from swords to plowshares, etc...
I am thinking these:
Feedback? Other odd ideas that may or may not be feasible are welcomed
It has also pushed the Eventide logo to the side on the "partial Eventide spoiler," as if it is more important. Has mtgsalvation sold out? I do not like it. It makes the Eventide logo look less important.
If it is needed to generate funds to support the site, how about a less intrusive spot, like at the bottom of the list, or at least not covering the sites own logo.
I hope I can speak my mind here and not get slapped with any infractions because I disagree with the placement of the banner from the sponsor, that seriously would be old school hammer and sickle communist behavior.
What has me wondering is what the races are of the following creatures in the about to be mentioned artwork:
Figure A:
and,
Figure B:
So, what in carnations shall we call these two?
My guesses are:
Fig. A -
I am guessing it is a Celtic/Brittish Isles version of the Aztec "Quetzalcoatl" - which was a God that had a serpents body and a birds wing's.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quetzalcoatl
So, by deductive reasoning, I am guessing the the Fomori are possbily red/white hybrid giants, with a genetic disposition to have goat horns and goat legs (look at how the legs are shaped in the new art).
Consecutive posts merged, warning issued.
Not the best choice. Look at the future-shifted Braids. It screams Alanis Morissette!!!
As in the past, the hybriding of creature types was done without flavor being considered from the set. It would make more sense this time around. If Wizards puts out shaman warriors, soldier scouts, and rebel knights, why not do the same for race?
It is a great chance to explore hybrid casting costs for dreatures a new way.
What are the chances of seeing that in Eventide for each color?
The possible combinations would be (I have already factored in creature type bleeds, like flamekin/elemental in black):
For
I got this idea when in another post (in the speculations) someone had mentioned that a textless previewed card had a being that had both elf and goblin features. I began to think, why not? Interesting, fun, and just another small dimension unexplored.
I realize this, I haven't read the Eventide novel, so this is purely speculative. But wouldn't it be great? There could be creatures that are not changelings that can bridge the gap between creature types, allowing an effective multi-tribal theme deck.
(and YES, I know Eventide is not a tribal set, but it could/would still enhance Lorwyn block, so please do not be a bully and point that out to make me look ignorant, this IS a specualtion)
I theory it would work for a casting cost, BUT it would sooo be a nightmare to figure out each and everytime. I might just overlook that card in a draft. If it was :symbw::symbw::symbg: or :symbw::symbg::symbg: or even :symbw::symbw::symbg::symbg:, I would play it. I do not think blue would leak into it since is a friendly color hybrid, and a Shadowmoor hybrid grouping, not Eventide.
