Mindslaving Squid- 4UU
Artifact Creature- Squid (M)
Hexproof
Whenever ~ deals damage to a player you may exile ~. If you do, return it at the end of turn and you gain control of defending player's next turn.
3/5
The waters that are covered in ink maybe the last time you have control of your flesh.
Celestial Mutiny- xRRWW
Instant
Exile X target creatures. Return them to the battlefield under your control at the end of turn with a +1/+1 counter on each of them.
I come to MTGSalvation during spoiler season for 2 reasons; it's the best rumor site around, and I love reading how bad people are at card evaluations. This set isn't even in the bottom 3/4 of all Magic sets, and anyone arguing otherwise is only going to prove how very little they know about how to make sets that are successful by ACTUAL metrics, not by the metric of saying "these cards are stupid, set sucks". Theros was incredibly popular, added cards to multiple formats, and is more than carrying its weight (%) in Standard. I don't understand why some people can't figure out that WotC is much better at making Magic cards than these average whiny posters who usually haven't even played the game long enough to know WHY something is good, let alone WHEN.
It goes onto one thing: History. That's something that many new players (5 years or less) have come to see. Before, some sets were, meh. This set isn't horrible and personally, there's some rather good ideas coming from this block.
My only complaint is minor. That complaint would be that Cashseize made a return. But aside from that, I have no true complaints and look forward to how this block rides out.
See the Rainbow, Taste the Violence
Ongoing Scheme
For each creature you control, deal X damage to each creature and player where X is each of that creature's color.
Abandon this scheme if you don't control a creature of each color.
Flames of Blightheart- 7(R/B)
Instant
~ deals 12 damage to each creature and player. If any creature dies this way, exile them instead and exile the top card from that player's library.
For what I'm seeing, Phenax would be a viable way to get him to tap and then untap.
You tap Siren at the end of your opponent's turn for a card and then during untap phase, you get another library card and a card from hand. You don't need to swing if you don't feel a need to. Also it counts as a blocker at worst and it's fine because as you declare Siren to block, Phenax's ability will give you a block mill situation that you can benefit.
A sideboard card for UB with a possible maindeck fringe later on in the season.
Frostfire Seraph- 3(R/U)
Creature- Angel (R)
Flying, Trample
~'s power is equal to the number of instants and sorceries in all graveyards.
If ~'s power is ten or greater, it gains Hexproof and "(R/U): Deal one damage to target creature and each creature that shares a color with it." She came from the heavens to make a summer day, cold.
