Hey guys my LGS is running a legacy league were we got a $20 budget and about 2 bucks every week to upgrade. This is what I landed on (a pauper list with board wipes).
I'm not sure where to go from here most of the meta is aggro so the board wipes help a bunch but is still a bit of nonBO with the rest of the deck (kill my own stuff, sometimes stabilize without them then they are dead draws).
There is some combo decks emerging I basically just hope for the best against right now(which works) but they are quickly getting better.
Where do I go from here? just save a for a whole new deck? Hymn to tourach? Thanks for any feedback!
Round 1 vs Aether vial allies: lost in 3. felt favored in the match-up and brought in stony silence for the aether vials. kept a bad hand for one loss and lost to a nutty draw (involving pro white) in the second.
Round 2: buy
Round 3 vs jund: lost in 2. liliana did me in both games. Game 2 I kept up negate for his turn 3 but he wisely played a creature instead then on my turn i tapped out assuming he didnt have her and got punished.
Round 4 vs BW tokens: drew due to time out. game one he played into a board wipe and conceded after i got emeria online. I brought in the board wipes but choose not to bring in disenchants. game two I got run over. game 3 Was very close and I was confident I would have won given more turns.
Round 5 vs infect: won in 3. spellbomb was king. My main deck is infect so i know how to beat it. mortarpod is great too.
Didnt make top 8 but I also didnt matchup vs the many zoo and burn players so i think ill do better in the future.
I wanted to make a note on snapcaster, he allows for better gift piles for instance: supreme verdict, wrath, path, snap. This guarantee's a board wipe with enough mana or a minimum of two paths if you dont have 6 mana.
I also think emeria shepard is way too greedy and im surprised so many you are on board(I could be wrong).
Yes the whole deck including SB will need to be $20 (I figure I'll just work on it slowly as the weeks go on, main deck is priority).
Sorry I've yet to post my own list in progress but I'm really liking MBC and started playing pauper for more inspiration.
Infect is interesting but that's my modern deck and I'd prefer not to double up
Awesome input guys I particularly appreciate the attempts at finalized lists with prices that helps a lot.
As far as prices which site to use as a price guide I wouldn't worry too much about but they did mention starcitygames ($26 US is about $20 CAD). Im not sure getting that specific is warranted though any old site ought to do.
I myself am going to tinker with a mono black control list and post that soon but who knows where I'll end up (doesn't start tell September)
After checking out some goblin stuff it really does seem like the best choice.
A decent amount of the vintage goblin list cards are around $1 so I could just kind of combine that with the goblin pauper lists. That also gives me room to upgrade into as our allowed budget goes up.
I fear that I won't be the only one to arrive at goblins so maybe a something that does well vs goblins could also work? i was thinking I could at least throw in some pyroclasam's
I was also thinking maybe I could take advantage of banned pauper cards since they are legal in vintage.
To be clear yes everyone is working with the same budget and I have no interest in vintage otherwise, so working my way into a "real" vintage deck isn't a priority.
Thanks a bunch for the replies everyone its been very helpful
so my store is starting a thing were we can build a $20 deck and slowly invest more money into it as we play(like 3 bucks a week max).
This will be competitive.
Should I basically just be looking at pauper lists? I'm a bit new and have no idea where to start
My preference of deck archetypes is the one that will win the most.

More input is always helpful
Thanks again!
Young pyromancer is 16 for a playset here in canada, delver is 6 bucks for a set, and swiftspear is 16 too.
there are complete pauper lists i can get for 20 bucks im starting to think it might be my best bet
Artifacts is something i was looking at since cranial plating is banned in pauper but not vintage.
Anyway thanks again for the input i know its a really tight budget
