Azrael posted a message on Cross-Town Mafia - Calling All MafiaScum FolksSo, in conjunction with the Mafia Design Throwdown, we were also thinking we'd start preparing for an inter-site throwdown between MTGS players, and mafiascum players, using the League scoring system.Posted in: Mafia
For venue, we were thinking we'd start off on Mafiascum, and switch back and forth a bit, depending on how many games we're set to play.
In order to organize that, we were hoping that folks who are familiar with mafiascum can point us in the right directon/act as liaisons and contact information people for us, helping us get in touch with their leadership and players who would be suited to play and to judge.
We also figured we'd use that as an opportunity to also promote the design throwdown, in case there's some folks who'd find that interesting, as well.
As yet, not sure whether this will be an elite squad vs. elite squad sort of thing, or whether we can finagle a way to make it more inclusive.
Raise your hand if you can pitch in with that, or are interested in participating. -

DCIII posted a message on The Mafia Council & Helpdesk ThreadPosted that quickly and should probably elaborate.Posted in: Mafia
It's hard to quantify levels of offensiveness. I certainly might react more negatively toward certain comments than I would others, and certain topics will be considered more inflammatory by others depending on the audience - so I think that offensive content should be reported and moderated through overall MTGS site moderation (as we've been doing) and we shouldn't really police the severity with any more action than the moderators would take based on the site's policies around that.
As for the hydra issue, I think there's a big difference between actions that are against the spirit of the game and actions that intentionally compromise the integrity of the game. I think this was the first. The behavior was against the rules and was intentionally deceptive, but I see it as much different in severity than something that renders the game moot from a competitive standpoint like... crypto-claiming or discussing alignment OOG intentionally, posting spoilers in thread, etc, etc.
The latter are ban worthy, IMO, the former aren't as a first time offense. -

Fight for Your Guild!1. There are no alignment-changing roles, jesters, or cults in this game. There may be other nonsense.
2. No post editing, no PM quoting. No discussing the game with anybody aside from me and people specifically outlined in your role PM, and only at the time and in the manner specified.
3. If you are dead, do not post or communicate with anybody about the game in any form. Not even a Bah! post.
4. Lynch will be reached with a majority vote. No amount of unvoting will stop this.
5. If you need me to respond to something directly, please PM me. I probably won't respond to any question in-thread unless it is incredibly basic (e.g., a vote count mishap).
6. Respect the spirit of the game and do not engage in any out-of-game behavior. Activity stalking, attempting to get yourself modkilled, or similar behaviors will result in a modkill, blacklisting from all of my future games, and recommendation that you be put on probation.
7. Bold your votes. Unvote before voting for somebody else. Make all votes on a new line. If you do not follow these rules I will not count your vote.
8. If a deadline for a lynch is reached without a majority, the Day will end in No Lynch. If you fail to submit a Night action by the deadline, it will not be counted. Please inform me if you wish to take no action at Night.
9. Please title all game action-related PMs with "Gatecrash" or similar and include the current Phase.
10. No post thanking! If you really want to thank a post, thank one of mine.
Credit for the rules goes to all of the fantastic mafia mods out there I wish I could be like.1. Each player belongs to one of four Guilds: The Orzhov Syndicate , the Boros Legion , the Gruul Clans , or the Simic Combine . The scum are all members of House Dimir who have seamlessly infiltrated the other guilds.
2. Guilds are not factions. Other than potential neutrals, the game consists of only town and scum players.
3. The Town win condition is: "You win when there are no more threats to the town remaining."
4. The Scum win condition is: "You win when you equal or outnumber the town."1. Deadlines for this game will be: <# of players> + <lynch threshold> = Deadline in days. The maximum length for a Day will be three weeks.
2. Each Day phase will have a deadline. Night phases will last 72 hours until half of the players are dead, at which point they will be shortened to 48 hours. Nights may be shortened further toward the end of the game.
3. During the game, there are up to three deadline extensions available. These extensions may be requested by the players at any time in the thread, and may be granted at my sole discretion. Don't be mad if I say no.
The options are as follows:
Extension Rules:A: 24 hours per player OR 7 days, whichever is shorter.Used D1
B: 72 hours
C: 48 hours
- Once a particular extension is used, it cannot be used again that same game.
- Any number of extensions can be used in the same game Day.
- If the players do not specify which extension they wish to use (or if there is no consensus on which one to use), I will pick the remaining option highest up on the list.
- Extensions are appended to the deadline time. There's no need to strategically time when the request is made.
- At least two players must request an extension for it to be considered.Player Responsibilities
1. Follow the rules. If you break a rule, you will almost certainly be modkilled. This is your warning.
2. Play clean and ask me before doing anything that could even potentially run afoul of these rules. Ask me before doing something that is "usually" against the rules that I may have omitted from mine accidentally.
3. Have fun, but make sure that your fun does not infringe upon the fun of others.
4. Post regularly, at least once every 72 hours at a bare minimum.
5. PM me with any questions. Don't assume.
6. Inform me if players need prods. Failure to post after 72 hours is grounds for a prod.
Mod Responsibilities
1. Handle all game actions swiftly and correctly.
2. Provide regular and accurate vote counts.
3. Respond to all PMs within a reasonable period.
4. Provide links to waypoints, thread title updates, and other thread upkeep.
5. Issue prods and locate replacements if needed.Breaking Limited Format Speed Records (5/20)

2. Archmage Eternal
5. Axelrod
9. Huntzillahansanator*
20. zindabad*
* Denotes a prod. Multiple prods may lead to replacement at my discretion.

This card is definitely solid all the way around, with acceptable stats played as a borph or a creature.Posted in: Custom Card Contests and Games

Nicole: D-Dangnabbiiiit! ..Th-That’s right. I’m an investigative reporter! A bona fide up-and-comin’ news journalist!

Enchantment - Aura {U}
Enchant creature
Enchanted creature can't block.
Whenever enchanted creature's controller is dealt combat damage, enchanted creature deals damage to itself equal to its power.
No matter how many times Elspeth washed her hands, she could still see the crimson stain of Ajani's blood.
IIW: Turn down for what.

See Polukranos. Also, not a lot better as a six-mana one-sided Wrath (for anything up to 6 toughness).
This could probably cost less considering Draining Whelk is so much better. Also, you want "casts it without paying its mana cost."

Creature — Serpent {U}
Sturdy Serpent can't attack unless defending player gives you his or her telephone number.
