If you're making a deck around Ravenous Baloth, Caller of the Claw can be a mention even if it isn't/doesnt produce beasts, since you dont lose card advantage.

For the OP deck, how does it kill the Grandeur after you donate it? Did i over look something?

Take out Dark Ritual and Hymn to Tourach, as they aren't very friendly in casual.

In place, you can add more lands and duress.

    Quote from Yukora
I've always defined a casual deck as a deck that doesn't fit in any format. Inother words, yes they're casual, as is every other card.

I would define casual as very... well not very good decks to pretty average decks that aren't in the tournament level, with the ban list in type 1, 1.5 and extended (and cards that were is their extended time period, like Dark Ritual).

So basically, non tournament level decks and decks without cards like moxes, demonic tutor, etc..

Okay, thanks guys for helping me decide about the Anthem.

How about Groundbreaker? It's a ball lightning and very fast. Do you think there is any room for it?

It's a quick 6 damage which is nice.. but then i cant SOFI/armor/rancor it and keep it.

    Opinions?

I think dual lands are perfectly fine for casual. However, I'd prefer to play the RAV duals > the original ones. But it's really wtv... It's really the rest of the deck that makes it casual vs uncasual.

But what really upsets me is when people play tournament caliber decks in casual. Some people take decklists from extended top 8s, switch a couple cards around and play it in casual, which makes it obviously better than other decks in the community. If the deck won a guy a couple thousand dollars, im pretty sure it's not casual...

How about Wall of Tears > Jungle Barrier? it'd help with the Soul Barrier. I just find that the deck wont function well. The only bounce you have currently is Crystal Shard. Also, the only LD you have is Reap and Sow.

IMO, you should have a lot of bounce spells and some draw spells. Maybe even Unsummon would be good in the deck?

Soul Barrier + Crystal Shard doesn't seem like a viable win condition IMO.

I just think that cards like Waterfront Bouncer and Evacuation would do much better then Loam and Tribe Scout, when basing a deck around Soul Barrier.

i dont get why you have all these land recursions when you want to win with soul barrier. it's unneeded and waste of deckslots IMO.

Also, if soul barrier is the FTW condition, Evacuation deserves some thought

Thanks for the list, I'll think about it if I have a huge problem vs flyers.

But right now, I'm having trouble deciding if Gaea's Anthem is worth a deck slot (green gaea's anthem) when Planar Chaos is released.

Sure the pump is good, but do i run enough creatures? i can see it useful in [card]beacon of creation[/c] deck since it'll pump many creatures, while i'll usually have just 2-4 creatures on the board. While compared to White Weenie who has 5+.

Also the fact that I cant see a card to take out for the Anthem.

    Opinions?

Friday seems like the best day. It might not be all perfect, but compared to the other days of the week, it's the most qualified for sancitioned events.

Monday-Thursday: School night so 99% of parent wont let their kids go out and play games when they need to do homework and definately not allow them to come home as late as 10.

Saturday: Generally a good day, but like it was mentioned, im sure parents dont want to drive their kids around when they want to rest. Not to mention, Saturday is also a church day. Well, for my community anyway, lots of my christian friends and relatives go to church on saturday, as well as sunday.

Sunday: church, obviously unable too. Not to mention, school is on the next day, so playing games until 10 wont come across fine and dandy to most parents.

The pros to Friday are pretty good however.

    1) end of week, so you can pretty much stay up all night, and do your homework on sat/sunday
    2) you can go to FNM right after school. Your parents are gonna pick you up anyways, might as well pick you up and drop you off at the store.
    3) On fridays, youre most likely to hang out anyway. Out of all the days in the week, friday is the day i hang out the most with my friends. Might as well have that certain day, the day of a sanctioned event.

Although, the way the store near my house does Magic on fridays and Yugioh on saturdays, so it works out fine.

for a gobbo hoser.... maybe Choking Vines or maybe Sandstorm??

color hosers besides the ones i mentioned before.... Thoughtleech Tsunami

I dunno... choking vines is only a temporary stall card. And Sandstorm doesn't kill off sharpshooter, warchief, and friends.

I think Utopia Vow (a green pacifism), from planar chaos seems like a better sideboard card then wing snare, since it can also take out those cleric decks that use Scion of Darkness as a finisher, as well as other decks who use 1 creature as a finisher.

I'm not sure about the Moment's Peace, but color hosers sounds good. Theres also Tsunami for blue hosing, but what about the other colors?

Also, how about anti-aggro? Elves & Slivers i am 50/50 with. I can always armor my pitskulk or ledgewalker and damage race them.

However, goblins are bit ehh... I thought about Hail Storm, but it seems very suicidal, seeing how i have 16 creatures with 1 toughness. Is there a viable green sideboard card that can fend off goblins? SOFI is a bit slow trying to ping all of them down.

So far the sideboard looks like

    4x Naturalize
    4x Utopia Vow
    4x (goblin hoser)
    3x color hoser?

    Thanks for the replies.

Morphling: Blastoderm's cant be targeted isnt that much of a drawback in my deck. If blastoderm is my only creature in play and i have no creatures in my hand, then 90% of the time, i lost anyway. plus, it's nice to go turn 1 bop, turn 2 troll, turn 3 blastoderm.

Uncle Icetvan: Wing Snare would be a pretty okay sideboard card i guess, if im that desperate. However, i dont currently have a sideboard. Maybe i can get help building one? The only sideboard help i've gotten is "depends on your metagame". I only play this friends who play random decks and online, so there isnt much of a metagame at all, since i play hundreds of different decks.

So really, I just need a general sideboard which can fend off random decks. Well, I've already gotten

    4x Wing Snare
    4x Naturalize
    ?

    What else? Any suggestions?

    thanks.

basic casual beats. I've posted this deck many times on the MTG forums, so i figured ill try a diff group of people for help.

The deck runs very well. However, I have BIG weakness against Exalted Angel/ Armadillo Cloak. Cloak i can handle 9/10 with Zealot but the angel just demolishes me. I can get lucky and block with birds + stonewood, but thats just losing card advantage and my finisher.

Any help will be appreciated. thanks
