Anybody hear anything about Greater Good being reprinted? FTV:20 perhaps? The reason I mention is my ebay saved search for foil ones shot me 7 newly listed this morning, when normally there are only 1-3 available at one time on ebay. 7 newly listed struck me as odd.
I wasn't sure where to post the question so if in wrong topic, I apologize.
It's absolutely a thing. It's the reason big "Timmy" creatures and spells tend to have price tags that aren't really justified by how good the cards are, but by how their sheer awesomeness attracts casual players. Take a look at all these:
These cards rarely if ever see play in Legacy or Modern but most of them have price tags above $10 solely due to casual appeal. There are many more examples too.
Looking at the prices of these cards vs. their foil counterparts yields a factor of 2 to 6 times for every card except Doubling Season. That one checks in at $30 median non-foil vs $40 median foil (per TCG pricing). Seems like foils should rise, even with the ugly promo version floating around.
Also, WOW on Kozilek, Butcher of Truth foil. That guy may be pushing over $100 soon.
Players cannot gain life.
When ~ enters the battlefield draw cards equal to the highest cards in hand of an opponent, lose 1 life per card drawn.
When ~ goes to the graveyard, target player loses life equal to cards in their hand.
Casting cost maybe BBB2, I dunno a name. I figured that not targeting gets around Witchbane Orb, Imperial Mask, etc. as well as being beneficial in multiplayer.
when foils were first introduced with Urza's Legacy, the most expensive foil was Ring of Gix at $100. Now they can be bought for $4-6, although Im not sure who would even pay that.
Judge foil Command Tower at $50.
I bought 2 at Gencon for $42 each, talked down from $50(seemed like a good deal at the time). Now Im having buyers remorse, so the question is, with the commander foil going to be released soon, are the judge foils going to start tanking?
This. I think it is really funny when I see "pimp" three color decks that are only running the three on color fetch lands. But on that note, I really do get a kick out of casting Mana Drain.
I personally hate seeing people run off color fetches. When playing against a mono green deck, seeing the red in a Wooded Foothills just seems so wrong. Why is it so different to play a Wooded Foothills in a G/W deck, versus Garruk, the Relentless, A point I realize has already been debated.
drain the well and poison the well. I have won many games due to these two cards, I only run drain at this time, but either way it always makes a difference (yesterday I even had someone scope because of drain)
Im curious why you would run that over Bramblecrush or even Creeping Mold. Is the lifegain that relevant?
I use it in my Brion deck. I wanted to run some janky cards I never use in anything else. Last time I played, 3rd turn after a signet, went Scorched Ruins, Gilded Lotus, Thunder Totem-(jank it up!). Not bad for white/ red with 9 mana at end of turn 3 (too bad one of the lands wasnt Flagstones).
In the right kind of deck it is powerful, but always a chance to be capitalized upon. I run Razia's Purification, Keldon Firebombers and the like anyway. I know I wouldnt play it in another of my decks though.
Besides, what would I do with my fourth turn Sun Titan otherwise?
I had to document my decks for insurance purposes so I thought I should post them here too. I posted 2 of these before, but these are my foil EDH decks with a few changes
Brion has replaced the promo Inferno Titan with an M12
Kraj has a Breeding Pool still in the mail, will replace Exotic Orchard.
Brion Stoutarm
Experiment Kraj
Progenitus
Teneb, the Harvester
Radha, Heir to Keld
Molimo, Maro-Sorcerer
and yes, the revised Tropical Island is killing me. Still looking for a good deal on a FBB one.
wow, wish my sleeves werent so dirty!
