So I came second with this deck at my local LGS 1v1 brawl tournament with 9 people. I ran a list just a few cards different tho. I cut out the whole graveyard recursion theme and still ran with Chandra, Torch of Defiance. It was a real bomb when played turn 4.
Ultimately I lost to a Jhoira deck that countered all my removal and killed me with karns temporal sundering and some beefy creatures.
Cards that under performed were: Heaven // Earth, Rishkar's Expertise, Field of Ruin and Kamahl's Druidic Vow couldn't be cast reliably and only ever really brought out some lands or totally missed.

Getting lands into graveyard JUST to get some more value from The Mending of Dominaria doesn't seem that practical. We're already playing too many tap lands imo, they still enter the battlefield tapped after III and the more important part of mending is the shuffling the graveyard into your library. Out of the 3 Memorial to Unity seems the one that is actually worth playing. Its a cool idea but not the purpose of the deck I think. Haven't played it yet tho, still missing a few cards maybe you can prove me wrong.

Any good dominaria cards to include?

So, maybe a bit of a difficult question to answer, but since colorless and artifacts are kind of my favorite theme/color would this be a good fit for my first commander deck? I've always played other players decks and im thinking of building my own deck for once. I used to play G/R Tron with newlamog and emrakul and actually experimented with may of the cards in the list, in modern FNMs. If this is anything like swinging in with big interesting creatures then would you see me liking this?
I would probably replace a few of the cards and break the eldrazi only theme because I have a few other colorless creatures that I really want to play like wurmcoil and platinum angel. Since I probably will be up against decks of all power levels, what are some good cards to replace to make room for some more powerful inclusions? Currently the list is very inexpensive actually so I think its a great place to start from and to add on or replace as I acquire "better" cards.

As for the post, I really really like the layout and the effort you put into making it look really nice! Smile

They're not usually all present, im just saying that there is so much diversity :D. Last time I played with a friends deck our meta looked like this, and I believe they're in the order of standings too, as in elves won and etc...
Im just wondering if I should go with Pyroclasm as its 2 mana or Volcanic Fallout for 3 but it deals 2 dmg to face too, I dont know how important that 2 damage is since im very new to burn.(coming from tron :P)

    Standings:
    GB Elves
    Junk
    Abzan coco
    RG Tron
    Merfolk
    Skred
    Affinity
    UW Control?
    RW Burn
    BTL Scapeshift
    Dredge
    Abzan coco
    Living End
    Domain Zoo
    Abzan coco

So im currently trying to assemble a decent sideboard. My meta sometimes has zoo, elves, affinity, infect, merfolk, some burn and zooish burn, tron and junk.
    Currently I have
3x Molten rain 3x Path to Exile for disrupting tron and pathing wurmcoil and goyf
    3x Destructive Revelry for affinity
Trying to get 3x Kor Firewalker and 3x Deflecting Palm too.
What about some sweepers for merfolk, elves and affinity? Anger of the Gods or Volcanic Fallout and why one over the other?
And what should I consider and what should I cut from this list?
This is my current list atm http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/my-naya-burn-4/ (the landbase is abysmal atm, but im slowly acquiring more fetches)

    Thanks

This is what I quickly threw together, only problem is it exceeds my budget by like a 100 euro. (prices from magiccardmarket.eu)

Should i just go with boros then? At the same time I kind of want to get some staple fetches and shocks too.
Oh and 1-2 lavamancers should be somewhere there aswell, oops Grin

    Hello burn players!

Since I sold my G/R Tron deck im on the look for a deck thats fast and packs a punch, I've been under the impression that burn would be that. Is burn still tier1 in this current meta and what colors do people play it in usually?

I was thinking naya burn myself but im unsure since I don't know much about burn, in my LGS ive only seen mono red burn which is pretty different.

    Thanks in advance.

Burn is definately a teir one deck so far in the new meta. Ever sense the T-Cruise incident the top burn lists have been Naya. It has the most flexible sideboard and Atarka's command, while not sacrificed much speed or consistency. If you want a powerful and consistent teir one deck that's the way to go. If your more into brewing Mardu has put up serious results lately and gets bump in the night. We have Jund burn players here aswell.

If your more limited by budget Boros and Mono-R are the budget options, both still powerful in their own right. They arnt Guna win any pro tours but they arnt honestly that many percentage points behind Naya, definately teir 2 in their own right. All the versions of burn will generally give you alot of power for your money, that's why it's a famous budget deck.

If your interested in Naya there's 2 Main types of Naya burn, traditional Naya and Nacatl Burn, both of which have arguement for and against. Conquistador has done some good math as far as statistics for that debate.

Im definitely interested in the naya version more. What would be a good list to start with? I read a few pages and saw a few different variations, my only concern is that I can't really afford saclding tarns, other that that I could get something like 80% of the deck for my money right now. What are they key lands I really NEED, and what could be replaced by some budget variants that I could swap out later for the best ones?

    Thanks again!

I don't know US prices, but some of the cards seem overpriced imo.
Eye of Ugin doesn't cost that much anymore.
Wurmcoil should be like 30% cheaper.
Karn and Emmy are almost fair price I think?
And you get a lot of useless bulk that you don't want to play.

This is my deck, and I've probably spent somewhere aroung 250$ on it

Going to add 4x TKS to the list at some point. Another ulamog too.
    Still testing Warping Wails

Im really interested in trying out 3-4 TKS mainboard. Seems to be what tron needs atm, more creatures to draw into, hand disruption against combo decks and something to play when our lands are being blown to bits.

Is there a general consensus about Warping Wail and Oath of Nissa yet? I might get a few. Also, would thought-knot seers replace spellskites?

Seems like from your meta the Sundering Titans doesen't do much. If you want to you can try 4 Bane of Bala Ged instead of Karn, they take the 7 mana spot quite nicely. I would cut Dismember, atleast 2 of them.

Thing is, you don't want to lose life while playing a Tron deck.

so cut 2 dismember, 2 Titans, add 4 Bane ( i mean its worth almost nothing so why not try it), maybe even cut the third dismember/Bolt for a Firespout? Seems like you got a bit of smallstuff in your meta.

Thanks for the suggestions. I searched for some more cards, and found some maybes, what do you guys think?
Myr Battlesphere seems cool to flood the board aginst elves/zoo
Ruin Processor gains you a bit of life
Oblivion Sower Might be of some usefulness?

    Hello,

Im a beginner Tron player and this is my current list I've built with the past 2 months.
    http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/21-08-15-budget-gr-tron/

    What should I get next?
Now I know that "OMG you're missing 4 Karns and you call yourself a tron player?" but my meta is alll aggro and burn. Sometimes dropping Platinum Angel on game 1 just wins the game for me since they usually don't run mainboard removal or artifact hate.
I thought about getting maybe 1-2 oblivion stones, 1 more ugin and 4th wurmcoil since I really miss some creatures that I can play on turn3 when I get tron online and more mass removal just buys me more time to draw my wurmcoils, sundering titans or enough mana and emrakul.

To be a bit more specific about my meta: The top8ish players there are usually: Elves(the one I usually face in the last round for the fnm win, the score is like 4-1 to me :D), G/W hexproof aura, burn, Mono G ramp, Mono G aggro, Infect, W/B Tokens and sometimes some controly decks like Scapeshift, Lantern Control or W/U Titan contro.

  • posted a message on Dragons in modern? What is holding them back?
I have been seeing so many dragons in my LGS players albums so it has got me wondering, is there a decently competitive deck that involves mainly dragons? I searched this forum, /r/Magicdeckbuilding and google but couldn't find anything useful.

Are dragons really that awful in modern at the moment? Whats the main problem holding them back or why don't they see much play?

Also if its important my LGS meta is mostly aggro - elves, burn, G/W aura hexproof, mono green aggro and some other aggroish decks, and once in a while someone brings scapeshift or lantern control and I play my almost completed R/G Tron Grin
