Thanks for the response - that was something that occurred to me but felt wrong some how. Maybe I will just try that - although I will probably choose to run the original Kodama's Reach instead of Cultivate.
I am trying to find room for Cultivate and Kodama's reach in my 540 powered cube (cubetutor: https://www.cubetutor.com/viewcurve/99666). I think I could cut Nissa, Worldwaker for one rather than run both that AND Nissa, Who Shakes the World. But I don't know what else I'd cut from Green's small non-creature section:
0-1 CMC (5)
Gaea's Cradle
Mox Emerald
Treetop Village
Rancor
Worldly Tutor
2 CMC (7)
Channel
Life from the Loam
Oath of Druids
Once Upon a Time
Regrowth
Survival of the Fittest
Sylvan Library
3 CMC (1)
Nissa, Voice of Zendikar
4 CMC (4)
Eureka
Garruk Relentless
Garruk Wildspeaker
Natural Order
5 CMC (3)
Nissa, Who Shakes the World
Nissa, Worldwaker
Plow Under
6 CMC (2)
Green Sun's Zenith
Selvala's Stampede
7+ CMC (2)
Finale of Devastation
Tooth and Nail
Maybe I should look into cutting a creature for it? It just doesn't seem better than Yavimaya Elder or Sakura-Tribe Elder or anything like that...
Id love to hear why so my card evaluation skills can continue to grow? I always considered the extra damage better than the scry 2 or potential flashback later. Is the simple answer just that that is wrong?
Trying to decide which black 4s to run when Yawgmoth got spoiled was hard enough, and rankle isnt helping!
I had Nekretaal and Skinrender on the list as well, and ultimately decided to cut Vraska's Contempt rather than any of the creature based removal spells. But the abililty to hit planeswalkers and instant speed makes me question that, and now I'm going to have to do it all again if Rankle is to get in too!
Thanks all for the support and advice. I'm relatively new at this, so its much appreciated.
I didn't think to cut a creature or creature-ish card for this but maybe that's for the best and courier or 5cc sarkhan could go for it. I certainly struggled to come up with any cuts from the noncreature section and would be more comfortable with either of those leaving the cube than the firebolt or fireblast anyway. I think I was looking at it too narrowly.
Do you have a link to your cube? I feel like there are probably other things I would cut first? I would probably cut firebolt. It goes in more decks, but fireblast it such a powerhouse in the right deck.
Interesting that the initial responses seem split over whether firebolt or fireblast is the better cut, even if most seem to think neither is better than frenzy. I do appreciate the feedback!
I'm trying to have room for Experimental Frenzy in my 540 power cube and these seem like the only red noncreature spells I could even possibly cut for it.
Did anyone who tested this card decide to keep it in? How has he fared since release?
I'm still on the fence about it and there probably isnt room for both it and Bloodrage Brawler as far as 2 drops in red that enable reanimator strategies go. And the Brawler is more generically useful to things like aggro.
Point taken! It seemed like having another 3 drop might help make blue's creature curve look little better in my cube (there's a LOT of blue 4 drops now after Urza, Lord High Artificer and God-Eternal Kefnet released in addition to what was already there) but maybe I'm placing too much importance on that. Like I said, I'm kinda new at this.
Hey wtwlf, I have a question about drafting cube with just two players.
With your recent rise to 630, has that negatively effected drafts at smaller player counts? I ask because the archetype pieces are less likely to come together and/or there is less of a chance for power to come up so its more likely that some players might end up with none with 630.
We almost exclusively play cube as just two players. With a 540 card cube we had been doing grid drafts (18 packs of 9 cards for about 30% of the cube in a given draft). But with 630 that percentage is even smaller, around 25%.
Would you recommend a different drafting process for two players with your cube at 630? Or do you think going up to 630 when we only draft with two players is simply a mistake (given that 540 already seemed to be pushing it)?
Thank you for your time and all that you do for the cube community.
I cut Experimental Frenzy for it but have not gotten a chance to see it in action much and have found myself missing frenzy...

How do people feel that Wickerbough Elder stacks up today? I'm trying to find room for Questing Beast in my 540 power cube and I think I have to cut either that card or Nightpack Ambusher

I'm looking to try Bonecrusher Giant in place of one of them.and can't decide which. 540 Powered environment.

Thanks again for all the help.
Sure, you can view my current 540 here: http://www.cubetutor.com/visualspoiler/99666

Thoughts?
Here's another question: I'm trying to make room for Serra the Benevolent and was planning to either cut Gideon of the Trials or Gideon Blackblade for it...
But as a 4 mana card that makes a 4/4 flying creature when it comes down, maybe I should be considering a cut of something like Gisela, the Broken Blade or Exalted Angel or even Baneslayer Angel for it?
Thanks in advance for the advice.
As far as blue's 3 drop creatures go, how do these stack up (Im at 540 powered currently):
This is assuming all three are ranked after
and
Phyrexian Metamorph, if you count it as one.
Thanks in advance!
