I too had a thought about cutting from the rainbow lands section for these, but I too thought it felt wrong.

With our group the signet/talisman cycle doesn't get picked up very often... how crazy is it to consider cutting the five enemy colored signet/talismans for these five lands?

Hmm. Maybe I've been sleeping on Uro, then. Is it better than Mystic Snake?

Here's another fun one then, since you all were so helpful so quickly Smile

Blue card draw spells, pick two: Deep Analysis, Treasure Cruise, Gush, Gifts Ungiven, Ancestral Vision

I currently have gone with the first two, as I don't support storm and I feel like Gush is mostly a storm card, but maybe that's wrong. I I am less sure on the others though. Thoughts?

I wouldn't replace either of those because a) Solemn is better in more decks and b) Lodestone is a different type of card entirely - it's specifically for the artifact and aggro decks. If you want to add Godo, I'd look for another cut.

    Cheers,
    rant

You are right about Lodestone being for different decks - we just haven't ever had much success with him and were wondering if he was showing his age a bit or if it was just us. It feels like the 5/3 body for 4 doesn't feel as big or beefy as it used to and that drains a lot of the appeal of the card as an aggro card.

But you are probably right, we are still quite new to cube by comparison. Smile

Thank you so much for the feedback guys! Sorry I am only getting around to addressing it now:

Cube looks really good. Nothing stands out that needs to be addressed. I would probably run another burn spell or two. I'd certainly run Fireblast and I'd consider another Incinerate variant or Rift Bolt. You could cut one of the red 3s that make tokens, whichever is your least favorite.

    Cheers,
    rant

Thanks! Your cube and your opinions are definitely ones I look to for inspiration and when I have trouble deciding on includes. We have been underwhelmed by both Castle Embreth and Underworld Breach (which replaced the castle). I think I will be swapping in Lightning Strike in that slot, as I agree, it would be nice to have another spell like that in the cube. And I did get Fireblast back in as well! I took out Experimental Frenzy for it.

This looks like a solid "stock" 540. Was wtwlf123's former 540 inspiration for this?

Since this list looks pretty stock you probably won't receive a lot of feedback on cards to cut. Maybe as a start, much of the community might agree on replacing the following cards:

    -Finale of Glory
    -Force of Virtue
    -Commit//Memory
    -Liliana, Dreadhorde General
    -Bosh, Iron Golem
    -Notion Thief

Additionally, here are some cards that way underperformed for us but are loved across the forums::
    -Reveillark
    -Spellskite
    -Vampire Nighthawk
    -Wolfbitten Captive
    -Psychatog
-A bunch of colorless cards like Mimic Vat, Erratic Portal, Lightning Greaves, etc.

Also we like Rolling Earthquake a lot more than Earthquake, but I know there's a "Boros Moat" archetype that some people have had success supporting, and I see that archetype on your list as well.

Yep, wtwlf123's cube was what we first built way back in 2016 when it was a 405 card cube. So that's what my group cut our teeth on! When he moved up to 720 around Modern Horizons last year, we decided we wanted to stay at 540 cards max, so we split off from following it exactly and have been trying to grow into maintaining it and making it our own ever since.

We've personally had great success with most of those cards you named, but I still appreciate hearing your opinion on them! I will definitely look at them with a more incredulous eye next time they come up. Especially Vampire Nighthawk which I recently toyed with cutting completely for Woe-strider but ended up cutting a Diabolic Edict instead since we haven't had much success with that card. We've also been a little more lukewarm on Reveillark than most seem to be, and I might try taking that out for the new Mothra card that looks really sweet once Ikoria drops!

The rest of those cards, including the colorless ones, have been pretty good for us. Are there colorless cards you'd try to run instead? We only managed to fit 5 of the 7 swords in right now, and couldn't find room for Icy Manipulator even though I wanted to. I'm just not sure those are better than any of the current inclusions when looking at the cube as a whole.

You are right on the money for why we have included Earthquake but not Rolling Earthquake as well (although that card WAS in at some point in the past before they changed the planeswalker redirection rule).

Thanks again for your feedback - I really appreciate it!

How has Golos, Tireless Pilgrim been for folks that run him? Good enough to replace Solemn Simulacrum or Lodestone Golem in a powered 540 list?

I am also curious about Edict's removal, as well as the removal of Ashborn Phoenix, since you seemed pretty high on it during preview season and it's performed pretty well for us. Is it just plain worse than even the worst of the Goblin Rabblemaster variants as far as red threes go?

Also, thanks for all you do for the cube community - I know I probably wouldn't have a power cube were it not for you.

I was in the same spot as you recently and ended up cutting Lightning Strike to get Bonecrusher Giant in when Eldraine dropped. If anyone has an opinion on what else I am currently running that I should cut to get the strike back in, I would be very open to suggestions. Smile (cube link in my signature).

But that's what I did as a 540 power cube; I don't know if that helps you.

Is Underworld Breach worth it in a power cube that doesn't have rituals or storm support? Or would it be better served as something like Lightning Strike number three?

I personally like the one drop soul warden and soul's attendant best of those.

I like Clique better than Barrower but if your group is newer or less experiences players its easier to understand and use the Barrower than the Clique.

@rantipole Thank you very much for weighing in on my cut situation above. It helps to hear another opinion when deciding sometimes. Smile

I have quite liked force of virtue but I think I agree it is the best cut for it. We've found Robber to be fine, but uninspiring. His attack clause is REALLY hard to make go off and he's mostly just been a 2/2 with Haste (and reach)

I'm trying to find a cut to try out the new Heliod, but it's tough because there isn't really a card like him in the cube right now (is he included as a creature? an Enchantment? etc). Would it make sense to try cutting Flickerwisp or Spectral Procession for him? Or Force of Virtue? Hard to tell if I am barking up the wrong tree, and it's extra tough since I am trying to find room for Shatter the Sky too...

What about replacing Skinrender with Eat to Extinction (assuming that's the one to cut over Nekraatal)? We've been getting a lot more planeswalkers as of late and some extra planeswalker removal would be nice.

Should I be slotting in Woe Rider over Vampire Nighthawk or Mardu Strikeleader?

No clue what to cut for the Phoenix... Warboss seems like the only option but Warboss has been good for us. Is cutting Robber of the Rich a mistake for curve reasons? We have so many red threes now (and I recently kind-of added another by cutting Lightning Strike for Bonecrusher Giant in ELD)

Cheers! Thanks for the insight. We've had a lot of success with paradise being untapped and providing any color for CC heavy decks (instead of being locked into one with terramorphic/evolving wilds), but we've also not been cubing for nearly as long and I will happily defer to your judgement. Thanks for helping me get it sorted out. Smile

I can't explain how good this card has been for us. Its such a small investment to run for a card that ensures getting flooded is OK. It plays great with any kind of token-y archetypes (stax, aristocrats, anthem-beatdown) and it plays great with any kind of artifact deck shenanigans whatsoever (cheap for tinker, makes many artifacts if you need to go wide with artifact count, etc). Finally, it can even make fliers when the ground is stalled or for something like a moat/quake deck (serra has fun with this card). And it is great at buying time in slower decks as well - the ability to blank removal on your chump blocker by turning it into an untapped token in response, or to chump something and then do the same to not even be down a chump blocker, is really quite efficient.

The more I think about it, the more I think the cut for Lightning Greaves should be one of the Rainbow Lands. I did the math again, and as of Fabled Passage from Eldraine, I am running 11 rainbow lands on top of the 5 per guild for a total of 61/540 or ~11.3% of the cube. That seems like it is a touch on the high side. How do people rank the following 11 rainbow lands? I'll give my attempt at a ranking as well (my list is running Crucible of Worlds and Ramunap Excavator:

    1. Mana Confluence
    2. City of Brass
    3. Reflecting Pool
    4. Gemstone Mine
    5. Prismatic Vista
    6. Fabled Passage
    7. Undiscovered Paradise
    8. Grand Coliseum
    9. Ash Barrens
    10. Terramorphic Expanse & Evolving Wilds
If the bottom of this list is correct it means I should maybe cut one of the evolving wilds... which is just crazy to me since they are such good cards, but these last few months have given us some very good rainbow lands, so maybe that is right.
